I don't think we'd go anywhere near the wages he'd want and doubt inter would stump up 50% of them.
Chelsea didn't play to his strengths but he's no longer the player he was. I'd prefer to avoid another Coutinho situation and look for a player on the up who will serve us better in the long term.

Really depends on what Lukaku we would get, if it was prime Lukaku then absolutely but I don't think we've seen that as football fans for a long time. I think we'll go big on a forward but would be amazed if it's Lukaku.

I agree with your take BK in terms of what type of Lukaku you are getting but in fairness to the player neither Utd or Chelsea played to his strengths which is why I think we haven’t seen the best of him. If he wants to play in the premiership which he supposedly does then he has something to prove which a club like us might be able to exploit. If you could get a loan deal with an option to buy and we pay 50% of his wages that might be something which appeals to both parties in the short term whilst we assess whether he is worth spending big money on.

Wouldn’t touch him TBH I’d rather a player who hasn’t peaked yet. I think the chances are zero either way he will want a team already in Europe.

I agree it’s a massive risk but I would argue no bigger risk than picking up someone who hasn’t peaked yet as they may never peak!. Lukaku allegedly wants to come back to play in the premiership but none of the top clubs that he hasn’t already played for have a gap for a number 9 I would suggest that we are the biggest of the rest. I agree with you that European football might be an issue but if he really wants to come back then he might have to forego that for a season. Going back to the risk question if you go back to when we signed God no one would touch him Ferguson even wanted to pay him off but look how that turned out. As I said if you took him on loan with an option to buy, you minimise the risk and it could work well for both parties.

Hi Lordy, I don't really like Tammy Abraham, I think we could do better. But I think he would be a better option than Lukaku. History has shown how aging players past their peak never manage to get it back.

It will be interesting to see who we go for 56. Re Abraham I am a bit conflicted in that in one way he’s different to Watkins as he is a presence in the box and would give us something different, however he has a worrying similarity in that his conversion rate isn’t that great so I am not wholly convinced he is the answer either

I think we'll try for Ivan Toney, based off nothing whatsoever, just a laughable gut feeling LOL - I just feel we will go big on a striker and they will want a ready made striker if we are to drop 50M+! Toney ticks all those boxes and I think he'd be a very good partner to Watkins!

LOTM, Chelsea in all their spending didn’t buy a striker, United need a striker, Newcastle will need a big name striker if the qualify for Europe which looks likely.
in regards to Toney, Brentford look a good bet also for Europe I can’t see them selling or him wanting to leave for a club outside top 6.

All valid points lads, I wouldn't put money on any specific player signing for us to be honest, with the exception of Guendouzi, that looks a banker, but I do feel a Toney-esque signing will be made in the summer (50M+). Tell you who I like, watching him currently play for Ireland, Brightons Evan Ferguson, he looks like he is destined for the very top, would be expensive though!

Whack, Lukaku is already a Chelsea player they don’t rate him, Utd had him didn’t play to his strengths, he doesn’t fit they way Arsenal play and no gaps at City or Spurs, so if he wants to come back to the premiership his options are limited. Re Toney, I can’t see us moving for a player who has got a lengthy ban hanging over his head.
I agree that Ferguson looks good but it’s early days and he has been given a chance to prove himself. Is he better than Archer? Not sure Archer needs to be given the same type of chance at premiership level to show what he can do.

I think Ferguson looks something special LotM, think he'll go to the very top, has all the qualities necessary to become a star and only 18! I agree Archer deserves a shot at the Premierleague but I think it won't be with Villa, just a gut feeling but think he'll be off in the summer.

I think your right BK probably with Boro if they get promoted if we do sell we should definitely include a percentage sell on clause. And I hope it doesn’t comeback to bite us in the ass.

The good news is, if he continues to deliver for Boro in a meaningful way his stock will continue to rise and more we will bank for him in the summer. Ideal world scenario is these talented youngsters develop into first team players but the reality is the majority will become a source of consistent income for Villa. It's a model the big clubs have leveraged for years, it's not what us (as fans) like to see but if we can develop players like Archer who cost us nothing (bar the cost of development and low wages) and sell them for 20M+ it will have a huge knock on effect to the spending power for the first team and the sustainability of the club.

i wouldn't touch martial whack he's lazy and got a attitude problem and is always injured,as for strikers ferguson from brighton would quality,same with tammy,and i would also take a punt on lukakau aswell only on loan,toney would be my number 1 choice but he could get banned
