According to Dan Bardell there is no release clause in Duran's new contract.

Just read a link about us being in for Gibbs-White? Thoughts?
26 Jul 2024 22:47:52
Adeyemi of Dortmund being mentioned, I don't watch German league but good player from what little I have seen of himj
1.) 27 Jul 2024 11:09:30
Hes rapid aswell with the ball and without aswell, good player aswell
2.) 27 Jul 2024 13:20:37
Decent player, quick and versatile in that he can play through the middle or out wide, but not sure he is clinical enough if we want him as a back up to Watkins
21 Jul 2024 17:03:55
Reported villa interest in Todibo of nice, any thoughts?
1.) 21 Jul 2024 20:45:41
Could we afford him. I thought we were in danger of falling foul of PSR rules. We have spent €117m and brought in €67m. If we were close before, surely being another €50m in debt won't help. Might be some truth in the Watkins and Konsa leaving rumours.
2.) 21 Jul 2024 22:37:21
We cleared psr by selling dougie 50mil, kellermann 20mil, tim irebhghen 10mil,
3.) 21 Jul 2024 22:38:24
Todibo is a beast whack would be an upgrade over carlos
4.) 21 Jul 2024 22:54:44
£117m spent is spread over 5 years or what ever where as the money brought in is off the balance straight away
5.) 21 Jul 2024 23:38:22
The thing with Villa is that we had to satisfy PSR by june 30th which ended that financial period after we achieved that we move into 24/25 period which is a whole new ball game, we have substantially increased income thanks to Chris Heck so there is that to consider as it will increase spending power, we also have champions league money and the increased income from those matches to include.
so it's difficult to say exactly how we sit, basically what we spend now we will have to balance the books by June 30th 2025 but we have that extra income as stated, Villa and Monchi will not buy players that we can't afford so whoever we get in we should be assured that the maths has already been done.

Reports suggest we lost 8.5 million of the luiz money to city for a sell on clause. ?♂️ here's hoping the players we got in the deal turn out to be gems or it will look like a poor deal.
1.) 02 Jul 2024 07:13:02
You win some you lose some. Whilst we may have had to let Luiz go for less than we would have liked, financially we did very well on the Kellyman deal, and if we get £40 million plus for Duran I would say we are ahead of the curve. Add to that picking up Barkley for circa £5 million I would say overall we aren’t doing too badly.
2.) 02 Jul 2024 18:53:43
I wonder how much we're paying him. At Luton, he was on £30k per week so if we've got him for close to that, we've picked up a bargain.

I don't ever remember a season like this, often very close for the top places but with 15 games played every European place from second downwards is up for grabs for an unusual amount of teams, apart from Liverpool it's a very competitive season, other team's improved a lot this year, I know none of us are overly impressed with our performances but amazingly we are only 4 points off second place, I suppose the annoying thing is the missed opportunities we could be in second and well clear of the rest of the chasing pack.
1.) 08 Dec 2024 18:41:38
I think there will be a few teams thinking along very similar lines, but I expect the dust to start settling in January and a largely familier pattern to emerge in the top six or seven, maybe with one surprise package emerging.
I'm hoping we have some wiggle room in the transfer market to try and attract one or two whilst we still have champions league to offer. Two decent wide players in this team could make a huge difference to our chances of top 5 again.

My word Watkins wouldn't finish his dinner, can't make a decision to save his life, how have we not scored a hatful today, easy decision to start Duran on Tuesday.
1.) 07 Dec 2024 17:26:23
Compare how many chances we had in that second half compared to the first half.
Duran may have his moments but the team suffer more.
Watkins will get back to his decisive best eventually, but at least until then the whole team has more control and more chances with him in it.
2.) 07 Dec 2024 19:40:52
That’s one argument but second half they threw on all their attacking players to try get a goal and left a lot more gaps than the first half, they had to go for it hence why we had the extra chances, if archer had the same chances that Watkins had today he would at least have had a goal and assist, don’t get me wrong I love Ollie but he’s a shadow of himself, same the other night he was lucky to score the penalty, every shot is either scuffed or if the connection is good it’s straight at the keeper.
3.) 07 Dec 2024 20:55:55
Yes, Southampton slightly changed their formation but on the whole Ollies movement is what creates the space.
I'm not saying Duran isn't a good striker but anytime he is on the pitch it is him or nothing and the ball comes back at us a lot more.
4.) 08 Dec 2024 01:00:50
Disagree on that front. Duran puts defenders under more pressure than most if not all of our other attackers. He retains the ball more than any other attacker (possibly Rogers aside) and as things currently stand, looks more capable of taking chances when presented than anyone else. He's not the finished article and he's got to learn his trade, but on current form he's out most potent offensive weapon and justified his start and probably the next, although I suspect Watkins will start in Europe.but if he doesn't improve I can see Duran getting a few more starts soon.
04 Dec 2024 23:14:51
Brilliant first half some lovely flowing football but second half let them back into by going back to playing pedestrian like, to much backwards passing and messing close to and inside our box, better teams will punish us, how can Emery not see the issues, good result but the problems are evident.
01 Dec 2024 14:02:00
I have no words for this game so far
{Ed014's Note - thank god you’ve got the best keeper in the world!
1.) 01 Dec 2024 14:51:43
Debatable when you look at clean sheet stats ED
{Ed014's Note - in his own mind Whack
27 Nov 2024 21:58:17
Robbery.
1.) 27 Nov 2024 22:21:03
Agree it was soft but that's European reffing. To think some people were suggesting importing European refs to improve the prem haha. We got what we deserved from that. Our lack of attacking threat is killing us at the moment. Hopefully at least one or two play themselves into form soon.
Still, a decent point in the bigger picture, the pressure is mounting now with some tricky fixtures coming up.
24 Nov 2024 20:56:09
Wouldn’t class llorente as an upgrade, never heard of the other guy. I’d love to know how we are fixed financially, how much can we actually spend in January, anyone know?
23 Aug 2024 11:44:46
For me sterling is another Felix, can’t say I’d be to bothered if we didn’t get him it’s a high risk signing, quality player when he’s on it but we haven’t seen much of it in recent years
21 Aug 2024 20:14:10
To old I’d say.
19 Aug 2024 18:55:05
Hopefully we can all move on now from the whole fiasco, I hope Monchi and Emery didn’t have all their eggs in that basket
19 Aug 2024 13:56:31
Sounds like your mate just reads all the same articles on newsnow that I do allstar.
Looks like Toney is definitely going somewhere but it won’t be us unless Duran leaves is my bet.
I’m not sure Toney would be any better than Duran, they are quiet similar type of players, Toney hasn’t being the same since his ban, with durans age I think we’d be better off keeping him
07 Dec 2024 19:44:49
6 points was the aim this week and that’s what we got, like you say it was unconvincing today but we kept the clean sheet and brought home the points, winning the next 2 will be a tougher ask but on our day we are well capable
07 Dec 2024 19:40:52

A lot of possession given away but to be fair that wind is pretty strong and having an effect on things, I’m not saying it’s all down to the wind but at least half the issues are.
We are pressing much better though and not waiting till they are well inside our half before we close, more goals to be had, great goal for Duran he is a real nuisance he’s so strong and he’s a good finished, Watkins probably works harder for the team but Duran is more clinical imo.
05 Dec 2024 19:30:43
Doug and jack both on loan would be a decent window
05 Dec 2024 02:34:03
If we buy 3 players in January they will cost about 5 million each.
