Reported villa interest in Todibo of nice, any thoughts?

Whackattack

1.) 21 Jul 2024 20:45:41
Could we afford him. I thought we were in danger of falling foul of PSR rules. We have spent €117m and brought in €67m. If we were close before, surely being another €50m in debt won't help. Might be some truth in the Watkins and Konsa leaving rumours.

2.) 21 Jul 2024 22:37:21
We cleared psr by selling dougie 50mil, kellermann 20mil, tim irebhghen 10mil,

3.) 21 Jul 2024 22:38:24
Todibo is a beast whack would be an upgrade over carlos

4.) 21 Jul 2024 22:54:44
£117m spent is spread over 5 years or what ever where as the money brought in is off the balance straight away

5.) 21 Jul 2024 23:38:22
The thing with Villa is that we had to satisfy PSR by june 30th which ended that financial period after we achieved that we move into 24/25 period which is a whole new ball game, we have substantially increased income thanks to Chris Heck so there is that to consider as it will increase spending power, we also have champions league money and the increased income from those matches to include.
so it's difficult to say exactly how we sit, basically what we spend now we will have to balance the books by June 30th 2025 but we have that extra income as stated, Villa and Monchi will not buy players that we can't afford so whoever we get in we should be assured that the maths has already been done.

Reports suggest we lost 8.5 million of the luiz money to city for a sell on clause. ?‍♂️ here's hoping the players we got in the deal turn out to be gems or it will look like a poor deal.

1.) 02 Jul 2024 07:13:02
You win some you lose some. Whilst we may have had to let Luiz go for less than we would have liked, financially we did very well on the Kellyman deal, and if we get £40 million plus for Duran I would say we are ahead of the curve. Add to that picking up Barkley for circa £5 million I would say overall we aren’t doing too badly.

2.) 02 Jul 2024 18:53:43
I wonder how much we're paying him. At Luton, he was on £30k per week so if we've got him for close to that, we've picked up a bargain.

How about Onana of Everton? I see a link about a champions league club interested in him, valued at 45 million

Whackattack

1.) 14 Jun 2024 22:23:55
Think the CL side is Arsenal. Better value to be had elsewhere.

2.) 15 Jun 2024 00:07:44
Who would you like to see coming in to replace Doug?

3.) 15 Jun 2024 10:25:30
If I am honest I think Barkley is lined up as Luiz replacement, but for me if I was looking to replace him I would look at one of the following Ndidi, Neves, or as a total rank outsider Sekhou Fofana who started life at Man City, up until last season was playing for Lens in Ligue 1 before moving to the Saudi Pro League, not a flashy player but in my view does the simple things and does them well.

4.) 15 Jun 2024 11:19:27
Gallagher, assuming that McKennie is coming as cover for Kamara

Question for the EDS, or indeed anyone with solid knowledge. am I right in thinking we need to come up with around 30-35 million in sales before the end of the month? Or is it higher? Or is it even known outside the club the exact figure?
I'm thinking back to last year with Forrest, they could of sold johnson earlier for a lower fee and avoided punishment but they held out and got as much as they could for him, if we were to do something similar I'm wondering what our punishment might be? Didn't Forrest only get docked 2 points? Was there a fine aswel? Is it worth losing 30-40 million selling luiz on the cheap? Would we be better off chancing our arm and see how it plays out? It would really bug me to see him going for half his value, it also surprises me that our owners would find themselves in such a pickle being so successful in their business's, I'm still expecting them to come out with a plan that they had to get over this hurdle

Whackattack

{Ed002's Note - I don't know the exact figure but it is something like that. Aston Villa will not be selling Luiz.} on the cheap

1.) 10 Jun 2024 13:02:17
According to Birmingham Live, the gap we need to plug is as you say circa £35 million, I think we may have already reduced that gap by £4 million through the Sanson sale, so if the rumours about Milan’s interest in Cash is true, or we can sell Carlos, or Digne before the end of June then we are almost there. I’d even be prepared to let Ramsey go albeit regrettably rather than let Luiz go for £50 million. My concern is more what happens next season if e keep spending in line with what we spent last year ie do we have to end up selling one of our stars year in year out unless we radically increase our revenue streams.

{Ed002's Note - The calcultion is not quite as simple as that as it depends on how Sanson' contract was dealt with in the accounts. Regardless, it will not have significantly reduced the figure.
Matty Cash (RB) I am aware of rumours about Milan but I think they are wide of the mark.
Diego Carlos (CB) Will be difficult to find a buyer for due to significant wages - but available.
Lucas Digne (LB) An option for the Middle East perhaps but may be difficult to sell.
Douglas Luiz (CM/DM) Juventus failed with an offer of a straight swap deal for Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz last summer and may well try again offering up McKenzie as part of the deal but I doubt that would suit Villa. Arsenal interest moved on to a another option but they are unlikely to sign him and if Partey and Jorginho move on, then interest will return - and I expect an offer from them. Spurs interest has likely moved on. Aston Villa will resist a sale. An absolute wildcard would be a return to Manchester City to replace KP, but they have a much preferred target they are already working on. Rumours of Milan interest is likely wide of the mark.}

2.) 10 Jun 2024 22:10:38
I think the sanson money was wiped out because of the extra 5 million add on that Torres cost us this year on account of us qualifying for the champions league, the money we got for archer last year will also take a hit because we had an obligation to buy him back because Sheffield got relegated

3.) 10 Jun 2024 22:15:12
I’ve seen a few figures banded about but I think there is probably a clue in the proposal that villa put forward to increase the amount of loss you could occur by 30 million, I would of thought more clubs would go for it especially with the amount of inflation over the last few years. I think 30 million is the magic number, I think if we could shift cash and either digne or Carlos we would be looking healthy. next year we will be helped by the champions league money as it does not come into effect until July

4.) 10 Jun 2024 23:14:48
Archer is not a hit for this season as the obligation is for 1st July.
I don't think the damage is as bad as being reported, contract renewals have pretty much all been at the 4-5 year mark to reduce the impact.
I think the more accurate reports are where we need to sell to buy rather than being forced to make a big sale. Barkley agreement has been deliberately delayed until July and there are no other concrete purchases on the immediate horizon for the same reason.
We will make use of some of the freed up investment from 3 years ago falling off and then it'll be funded by sales. Don't expect a £30m+ signing unless Ramsey, Doug or Watkins go (preferably Ramsey for me, only Luiz if we get £70m+) .
Smart shopping on the free transfers should be enough if the wages are right. The UEFA wage % is more of a problem than PSR.

Have you ever seen so much crap all over sky sports app about this Yoro that united have signed, he's a decent player but the way they are going on you would think he had just won the euros playing every minute and had just bagged the Ball'on Dor, he's young fair enough but has achieved nothing yet

Whackattack

1.) 22 Jul 2024 20:05:17
They love manu whack there constantly saying there the biggest club in the world and that they should be top4, even on talksport there constantly going on about manu its annoying as hell wish villa had they own channel on sky for matches and news transfers and stuff i'd watch that instead

2.) 22 Jul 2024 21:36:35
I agree he hasn’t achieved anything yet, but he did look good against us and in fairness he is only 18.

3.) 22 Jul 2024 23:38:34
I'm not sure media 'love' accounts for the hype around Yoro.it's likely more to do with the fact the the clubs with the biggest followings attract a greater audience, so they'll try and attract that audience with ang hype'd up comme try they can.it's the same reason Villa get more coverage than other smaller clubs.
Yoro is potentially a very good player, so they have every right to hype him up, let's just hope it goes the same way the hype around Anthony and Casemiro went. Let them get on with it, it doesn't effect us. We've got our own very exciting season to focus on.
Not sure top 4 is a realistic expectation, but that certainly won't stop us trying and enjoying Champions League nights at Villa Park along the way.

4.) 23 Jul 2024 19:16:31
While I don't think we should expect top 4, I don't see how it would be an unrealistic target.
Other than City and Arsenal, the door is wide open for us.
United have made a couple of big signings but most of their squad are still pretty gash.
Liverpool are going to be an unknown quantity playing under a new regime for the first time in a long time.
Chelsea went on a good run late last season but have a new manager and will probably still be vulnerable defensively.
If Newcastle keep Howe they will do better without Europe. They could easily lose Howe or he could carry on running his players into the ground.
Spurs are Spurs. Their squad isn't all that great, they'll compete well in spurts though and could finish anywhere from 3rd to 8th.

How crucurella handball not a penalty and not even looked at by premier league VAR? Bringing their incompetence to the European stage.

It was looked at by VAR

19 Jun 2024 02:24:32
So for the 8th season in a row united play their opening game at home, only team to ever have 8 I believe, they also play their last game at home.
while villa start and finish on the road?
How does it even work? Surely you should have either your first or last game on home soil to keep things fair. we're also on the road again for Boxing Day.

Whackattack

1.) 19 Jun 2024 07:13:14
For us it will be 4 in a row away and only 1 of the last 8 at home.
City congestion and policing plays a major role and it just seems like they choose consistency over fairness.
It can't actually be random and potentially have both Everton and Liverpool at home on the same day.

Same old, same old. It reminded me of the final against Italy, we were fine until the Serbs changed it at half time, they pushed the wing backs forward and we struggled to cope. Foden did nothing, he is better in the centre but I think we have the same issue we had with Lampard and Gerrard can we fit both into the team? Not sure. Substitutions were too late and I am not sure why Foden wasn’t hooked off. Still we won. But if that’s our best we won’t win anything.

Diaby isn’t sold yet let alone replaced, I expect a big name to come in and replace Diaby when he leaves, Barkley will get more goals with us than he did at Luton for sure, I don’t think Onana has being bought to score goals primarily

I agree OneAV, couldn’t see Ramsey wanting to leave for spurs instead of playing champions league with his boyhood club, city, arsenal or Liverpool you could understand but spuds are pathetic

Whilst the rumour may be getting stronger it does not make it true, why pay 50 million for Onana if your interested is swapping 1 of your young stars with 2 season’s senior experience for a 28 year old soon to be out of contract plus a measly 20 million that you got for a kid who barely kicked a ball with the senior team, makes no football sense or business sense, rumours Diaby was sold for 50 million last week but still no medical, they are just rumours copied and pasted, I ain’t saying that a deal won’t happen but it won’t happen at that price, maybe if the throw in kulesevski it might make more sense.

Get rid asap, he doesn’t want to be here, I can’t see anyone with any kind of bad attitude working well with Emery, I think attitude was 1 of the main reasons Emery let Doug leave, looking at body language pitchside doug was never pleased looking when Emery was demanding more

Won’t be exactly the same lord, if we don’t qualify for the champions league it won’t effect our finances until July of next year, so while we might have to sell someone over the summer there won’t be the big pressure to have deals done before the 30th of June like we had this year.
I can’t see us not getting a European position, it’s just which position I wonder about.
