I listened to an interview on the radio at tea time time today with Ollie and Darren Bent, Ollie is as good off the field as on, he is smart articulate and extremely personable, we have a gem. On closing the interview Ollie asked Bent why he thought Ivan Toney was a better finisher (Bent had previously made a comment comparing the two) . Bent was a bit taken aback being rightly challenged. I hadn't heard much about Toney other than he, like Ollie played for Brentford. I googled his goals on YouTube, if you check it out, I was amazed at the quality, he will be the next big buy from the championship. Where on earth do Brentford keep finding them.

A mate of mine is a huge Peterborough fan and has been waxing lyrical about Toney for a couple of years he is convinced he can play for a top six premier side it will be interesting to see how he develops.

Toney came from Peterborough, and had 40 goals across his last two seasons in league one. He wasn’t really unknown, Brentford paid a pretty penny for him, compared to some of their other transfer dealings.

They didn`t find him Scotty, we new about him before Ollie arrived, but if you remember people said he was not premiership standard.
Like others we looked at, Benrahma, Lolly, etc etc.

All interesting comments, I hadn't realised we looked at him, my only comment is related to Darren Bents ascertion that he thinks Toney, in his opinion is a better finisher than Ollie (totally unproven, Ollie is scoring in the prem ), however Toney must have something about him for Bent to say that, Bent certainly is qualified enough to have credibility about his views.

Worth noting that scoring in the lower leagues is a completely different kettle of fish to scoring in the prem. not to say that I think Toney would struggle, I think he’d be one that could potentially bridge that gap. But there countless examples of players who have hit 15+ in the championship, but couldn’t get close in the prem.

Tonev went from NUFC to P'borough and then B'ford.
it was at Pborough that he lit up. A bit like Gayle.
we shaould be asking how these smaller clubs can sniff out players when we are not willing to go on a limb for players.
However we did with Davies and that is not proving to be a great signing.
