Sell him and we need to become a team, not rely on one player, similar to Southampton. Problem is if he goes it’s a high profile move for a large fee, any team will have us over a barrel with fees. Plus are players going to want to come? We’ve seen what happened with Rashica, we don’t have Europe, only one season back in the big time and in this scenario we will have just sold our best player. Not exactly appealing to anyone who isn’t a Villa fan.

Jack is our best player irreplaceable to villa, so i hope we don't sell,

Whist I don’t want to lose Jack, however if he does go it isn’t the end of the world as long as the money is invested in addition to what the owners have promised will mean a transfer kitty of nearly £200 million and we can develop a team with that kind of money. Let’s not forget we have been in this position before and survived and we will no doubt do so again.

The interesting thing for me is I am not sure if Jack’s goal is to play for England that moving to United will help him achieve his goal, I can’t see Jack being a regular starter at Utd as the central pairing of Fernandes and Pogba will be first choice and as Rashford plays wide left I can’t see Jack displacing him either. If Southgate is looking for reasons not to pick Jack which it certainly looks like he is then not being a regular starter just adds to the list.

Agree John it isn’t the end of the world, Villa we’re here long before him and will be long after him. Just a massive step backwards if we do lose him.

Despite the numerous press articles and rumours suggesting Grealish is about to go, no credible bid has ever come in to my knowledge. His story is always the soft option for the press.

Although I very much doubt Villa have ever publicly declared £75 or £80M as his price, I think there must have been sufficient steer given to any enquiring suitor. There again, has any other club seriously enquired for him this time around? From what I understand, the answer is ‘no’ during this close season.

The club’s valuation and the market’s figure for him are probably too far apart. A player/ s plus cash deal might have a bit more legs, but I will be very surprised to see him move on.

John and Chris my thoughts entirely. The team should not be built around one player, that would be a risky strategy.

AJ, I think there is a lot of credence in what you say, and is a good point mate.

The team isn't built around one player. However any team worth it's salt has a driving, creative attacking force in the centre as it's lynch pin. Messi at Barca, zidane at real, scholes at utd. So saying we can't rely on one player is pretty redundant. And building a team to support JG makes a lot of sense. Now DVB has joined Utd JG is going nowhere.

And with it looking increasingly likely that we will get SB and OW we will have an attacking threat that will actually do something in the prem. Moaning about JG a guy for who the last 5 years Villa have relied on to get us promoted and then to stay up is pretty sad. He loves the club, the club loves him and if you don't realise that great clubs are made by holding onto club heroes then you need an education in the history of football.

I am a season ticket holder at Norwich (been a villa fan all of my life and was at the 1957 cUp Final) and have seen Buendia play a lot. He gives the ball away and he has a dodgy temperament that every team takes advantage of second time around. My point is that all of us, myself included, hopes that incoming players will be as good as their TV moments. The really good players are those that can play to a consistently high level in between the televised stuff. BUendia is a good guy but he isn't a Premiership player.
All reasoning about JG is right but I hope he stays. A key player who supports the club so passionatel doesn't come around very often.
