Overall play was good. Finishing wasn't the best obviously but please tell me who you think could have done better without changing the overall dynamic?
Ramsey wouldn't have scored so you can't say he would have made the team better.
I applaud El Ghazi. He was out of practice but his overall game outside of his finishing was that of someone wanting to be back in the team.
Unfortunately teams are being clever and stopping our 2 best finishers from having clear chances.
Jack played the right options but was let down by the receiver. He could shoot more but when someone is better placed you have to do the right thing. If he doesn't score by shooting then everyone moans that Traore or El Ghazi were in better positions and he can't win.

At least we're creating chances and lots of them. We desperately need another option up front.
Davis must be the luckiest man at Villa. He knows there is no competition for places up front and just has to stay fit to get game time. He's a poor player. How many Prem minutes without a goal?

Apart from the end product the performance was good. It was mentioned last week that we do actually have a natural finisher in young Louie Barry. I can’t believe with the number of chances created tonight that he wouldn’t have hit the target, at least once. Hopefully with 9 subs soon to be allowed on the bench, we might see some of our young talent before too long.
El ghazi has ability, at times he looks like Ronaldo, but unfortunately unlike Ronaldo the end product is sadly lacking .

The hypothetical there though Mark is do we control it like we did and Barry have those chances.
It's all well and good saying a certain person would score in the same position but you're assuming they'd be in that position in the first place.

Would Barry have been in those positions? A lot of el ghazis shots he had beaten a couple of players before hand, that’s not Barry’s game.

The point I’m trying to make though is he would have been a useful option off the bench, as we were looking for a goal. If we could have brought him on for Traoré for the last 20 minutes for example, he would have been more likely to have hit the target than Davis I think. I can’t remember where I read it, but he is already regarded as the most clinical finisher at the club. We may just have our own Michael Owen just waiting in the wings.

Won't do any harm having him on the bench even if it's just for the experience, make the most of those extra 2 substitute places.

Watkins is a natural finisher and was in positions youd expect him to be. Burnleys defending meant it wasn't really a day for a middle man to shine because of how ridiculously narrow they were.

Too many ifs and buts, who would he have came on for? El ghazi? Ok so playing a young striker out of position, is he going to track back, cover the full back the way Ghazi did? Will he beat 2/ 3 players for pace in order to set up the chances El Ghazi had? From what I’ve seen that’s not his game.
It’s starting to get worse than whenever we’d struggle to score and people clamoured for Hepburn-Murphy, who now plays for a popular party destination😂
If he was ready, he would be in the squads at least, that’s what the management team get paid millions of pounds for.

Point still stands re Barry though, give the lad time to develop gents.

Watkins would 100% finished them but he was the one occupying the defenders.
May be a case if when Wesley us back flanking him with Watkins and Grealish so they can do the damage.

Either way, we looked good going forward, but it was still very erratic finishing.
