It would appear that we've had a 25 million bid for Smith Rowe turned down by Arsenal.
I can't say I blame them, he has the potential to be a very good player. That doesn't mean to say he will do though, many promising 20 year olds fall by the wayside. So whilst I can understand them turning it down and I think 25 million is a fair bid for this player.

1.) 21 Jun 2021 20:24:48
It is suggest an improved £30M deal has now been made for young Emile. Gooners are spouting off at the disrespect shown by those ‘cheeky upstarts’ at Villa. Times are a changin’ as Bobby D once spouted….

2.) 22 Jun 2021 05:20:01
Yes I can definitely sense something ‘ Blowin in the wind’

01 May 2021 12:27:51
There’s a rumour going round that we might make a move for Axel Tuanzebe, and for as little as 7 million. Personally I would snap him up for a fee as low as that. At just 23, he’s got many good years ahead of him and I think he’s capable of pushing Tyrone for a place in the team, he could also be a useful replacement right back.
Another option might be to play 3 at the back, with 2 attacking wing backs in Cash and Targett. This would do away with the need of orthodox wingers if we went 3-5-2.
I could imagine our other 3 midfielders as being Berge, Buendia and of course Jack, with Tammy and Ollie up front.
The bench wouldn’t look too shoddy either with the likes of Luiz, McGinn, Ramsey, Sanson and Chukwuemeka to call upon 😍.

1.) 01 May 2021 13:56:53
Hi Mark, hope all is well, I have been really busy mate as you know, but I totally agree, he would be a welcome addition to the side.
If reports are right enjoyed his time with us before, and would have very little trouble settling in.
A good value signing all round mate.

2.) 01 May 2021 14:59:04
Mark, definitely with you if the rumour on Axel is right as you say he’s the right age, versatile in that he can play in a number of defensive positions even defensive midfield if push came to shove and at £7 million in today’s market they strikes me as great value. However I am not sure how reliable the rumour is, as other outlets are reporting we are looking to sign an experienced premier league centre back which clearly Axel isn’t. I guess time will tell which way we go.

3.) 01 May 2021 15:04:59
Axel defensive mid. 🤔👍🏻

4.) 01 May 2021 16:35:02
Defensive midfield is a good shout Ally. Axel would fit the bill there, with his height, physique and pace.

5.) 01 May 2021 19:41:03
I really hope there’s substance to this. Right age, good player, versatile, knows the club. Price feels about right (and good value) for a player who hardly gets any game time at Utd and who’s entering the last year of his contract.

6.) 02 May 2021 12:04:12
If United are genuinely interested in Tom Heaton, maybe we could do a straight swap. I think that would be a fair deal and it would benefit both clubs.

7.) 02 May 2021 19:19:35
I think that would be a great solution for both clubs Mark.
I would be very happy with that, to be fair Tommy boy is far better than a back up keeper, even at his age.

8.) 03 May 2021 09:10:43
To be honest if Heaton wants to play first team football why on gods earth would he join United? At best he will be second choice behind Henderson, at worst third choice if De Gea stays, surely either way he has just as much chance of playing first team football with us than with them.

If he does move to United won’t it be on a free? As his contract expires this summer so the swap with Axel would be a non starter.

9.) 09 May 2021 21:11:54
Of all the rumours circulating around, this one seems to stand up to scrutiny more than most. Cost, our likely requirement (Engels leaves? ), player status etc.

The Szilai story with a £15-20M just didn’t stack up for instance. I just can’t see Smith/ Lange shelling out that sort of money for, potentially, a reserve CB, particularly when their will be priorities further forward and covering the LB spot need to be budgeted for too.

Smith’s familiarity with Tuanzebe plus his flexibilty (CB/ RB/ DM) makes him a good fit, especially if the manager is weighing up Kessler, rather than Guilbert, as his RB cover. He could well want a plan B, just in case it doesn’t go to plan.

10.) 11 May 2021 22:14:34
A swap deal with Heaton won’t happen because the goalie is out of contract next month. However, it seems he will be United bound, but on a free.

18 Apr 2021 11:56:46
Villa are supposedly leading the race for Loftus Cheek, not sure if there’s any truth in it.
He is a quick, powerful player though who goes past players with ease, and would give our midfield a bit of height and physical presence.
I think he would be a significant upgrade on our current Chelsea player.

1.) 18 Apr 2021 12:55:25
Been impressed with him whenever I've seen him play and certainly puts himself about a bit, unlike a certain Chelsea loanee. Offers height, physicality and skill. It's a yes for me if true 👍.

2.) 18 Apr 2021 21:27:41
I like Loftus Cheek but apparently according to press reports he’s on £150k a week! Really. Much as I like him there is better value out there than that.

3.) 19 Apr 2021 00:46:53
When he played for Chelsea youth, against Villa, in the French youth tournament at 17, it was reported he’d just signed a £1.7 m contract .

04 Sep 2020 12:41:49
So, after having a bid of 15 million turned down for Callum Wilson, it would appear that Bournemouth would accept a fixed price of 17 million.
This is actually better than I thought it would be and so I think we should cough up the extra 2 million.

1.) 04 Sep 2020 13:20:30
Don't get it unless Bournemouth themselves don't think he is capable of achieving add on criteria.

Wouldn't mind this (for PL experience) as long as Watkins was signed too but you have to consider wages as well as transfer fee.

2.) 04 Sep 2020 13:28:48
Mark if push comes to shove I agree let’s cough up the extra £2 million, however given they are supposedly interested in Hogan I might be tempted to try £12 million plus him and see what they say. After that I think we need to increase our offers for the Brentford two and get those deals done as well.

3.) 04 Sep 2020 13:56:24
I agree John. would they be interested in any of our surplus goalkeepers too? Need to move Kalinic on, and possibly Nyland too. And they’ve just lost Ramsdale.

I think Wilson at £17m would be a good signing in any case, but as others have said. got to get the two in from Brentford as well. Watkins versatility would be a huge asset, and Benrahma is the winger we’re missing. a huge step up from Trezeguet and Anwar.

Cash, Romero, Benrahma, Watkins, Wilson. that’s be an excellent window and I think the only other position we need then is an 8. A genuine box-to-box CM. I’m still hoping for Grujic.

4.) 04 Sep 2020 14:14:24
What about another LB.

5.) 04 Sep 2020 14:37:21
I think Deano wants another centre back however personally I like you you think left back is our weaker position but I guess if we get Wilson Benrahma and Watkins and Romero there won’t be much left for anyone else.

22 Aug 2020 15:29:01
Milot Rashica has reportedly told Werder Bremen to accept the bid from Aston Villa.

1.) 22 Aug 2020 15:46:58
Mark, where did you get that snippet from?

2.) 22 Aug 2020 15:57:06
AVFC transfer news and Rumours “ top stories”, go into the latest on Billing and you’ll see it was apparently reported by Kosovan sources about an hour ago.

3.) 22 Aug 2020 16:14:12
Thanks hopefully it’s tight but I’ll not get to excited until it happens.

{Ed002's Note - The problem is that his preferred destination will not pay the 25M asking price - he is certainly not in a position to tell his club to "accept the Aston Villa offer".}

4.) 22 Aug 2020 16:26:49
It could all be a ploy to get Leipzig to make a move.

{Ed002's Note - Smokescreens and ploys don't happen I am afraid (unless you are a Liverpool supporter - and then everything is a conspiracy as well).

5.) 22 Aug 2020 16:34:19
Lol, I take it you’re not a Liverpool supporter Ed.
Regarding Rashica, do you think we’ve got any chance of getting him?

{Ed002's Note - I think it will be very difficult - Rashica wants the RB Leipzig move but the clubs remain €5M apart. He wants to be playing in the Champions League which will not help the cause.}

6.) 22 Aug 2020 17:06:45
Thanks Ed, it was reported a short while ago that Rashica’s stance hasn’t changed. So sadly I think you’re right, and I think Villa need to channel their energies into finding a realistic alternative, this saga has gone on long enough.

7.) 22 Aug 2020 18:08:15
Mark I absolutely agree we should have moved on a long long time ago when he first said he wasn’t interested hopefully Leipzig won’t budge on the fee and he’s left high and dry with Werder Bremen wishful thinking I know but there you go.

8.) 22 Aug 2020 18:59:28
Unfortunately another click baiting story by the looks of things. However the interesting thing about this is, I haven’t seen anything about it on sky sports or any of the rated sports channels. the Birmingham Mail seem to be single handily Driving the propaganda campaign on this one lol. I would focus our efforts on other players, if the offers on the table, let WB decide. In other news we have also been linked with billing any truth in this?

9.) 22 Aug 2020 19:23:56
Billing is a very good DM imo but after Luiz's massive improvement I can't see it being worthwhile.

10.) 23 Aug 2020 09:22:31
As a rule of thumb, I wouldn’t trust 99% of things that are on AVFC Transfer News and Rumours.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Christian Eriksen and his family.
Let’s all hope he makes a full recovery.

1.) 12 Jun 2021 22:42:12
Second that Mark . Frightening that a fit professional, who must undergo continuous tests, can end up this way.

10 Jun 2021 18:27:56
If Wolves decide not to take up the option of buying Ait Nouri, I think he would provide excellent competition for Matt Targett and would definitely be an excellent backup.
Angers want in the region of 20 million, if we could get him for around 10-15 million, I think that would be a good bit of business.

1.) 11 Jun 2021 06:30:50
markdavfrance Mark I have to agree with you, think he's got the potential, delivers a decent ball, lacks a bit defensively but then again what modern day full back don't. If we could get him for under the 10 million I would be all in favour for a move for him.

2.) 10 Jun 2021 19:36:00
I see you point Mark, but why not promote Mungo Bridge, and give him some time on the Bench, I am sure the odd game here and there would soon blood him, and could save us a few quid mate.
Left back is his second position, so why not, just putting it out there.

3.) 11 Jun 2021 16:30:16
RAN’s defending needs a bit of working on but in an attacking sense this kid is electric. He has blistering pace and especially over the first few yards, and it’s for that reason I’m sure he will improve defensively in time.
Remember the season before last Matt Targetts defending wasn’t so great but now he is excellent, I think RAN could learn a lot from Matt, for the defending.
I watched RAN at Angers the season before last and for the most part he was the star man, and I’m surprised he hasn’t really kicked on at Wolves.
Mungo Bridge is a good shout Dave, although I’ve only ever seen him play as a central defender for the U23’s.
Other options could be Guilbert, who can play left as well as right back and Tyrone who often played left back for Bournemouth.

01 Jun 2021 12:04:07
Just looking at the schedule for the Euros.
If England were to win their group they would face the runners up in (f) the group of death, so your looking at either France, Germany or Portugal. Not a great deal of incentive to win the group then. If we finish 2nd in the group it would likely be Spain, Poland or Sweden, so slightly more appealing there I would say.
Finishing 3rd in the group, it’s anybody’s guess who we would be facing but it would be the winners of any of 3 different groups. It could well be Belgium, Holland or Spain.
Finishing 2nd therefore looks the best option, but in all cases the last 16 match looks like it could be a tough one.
Ah well in Gareth we trust hey, 🤥🙏.

1.) 01 Jun 2021 12:42:12
Mark, I looked at the possibilities and you are right, however to win the tournament you will inevitably play the big boys, my view is take them out early, as teams get stronger as the tournament progresses, just my view but have a fear no-one at any stage mentality would be my approach.

2.) 01 Jun 2021 13:00:55
Could be worse lads, could be like me (Irish) with no team to support this summer. I'll just have to annoy you guys with constant Villa chat :-)

3.) 01 Jun 2021 13:08:42
With Southgate as coach? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 he' plays 2 defensive midfielders against minnows, against tougher opposition he'll play a very strict 9-0-1 formation, not optimistic with Mr Negative in charge. We've got the players, he just needs to play them but we'll get the same old faces.

4.) 01 Jun 2021 15:58:10
BK, I am of Irish extraction too so after the euphoria of the Jack Charlton years I have tempered my expectations to such an extent that I now follow Ireland with the oval ball rather than the round one😃. They might have been able to do better had Grealish and Rice opted for the Republic rather than England, but let’s be honest if you want to test yourself against the best you aren’t going to pick Ireland are you? 😩.

5.) 02 Jun 2021 16:33:26
Sadly not John, I think Ireland have some promising youngsters coming through but when you look at the absolute depth of talent at Englands disposal it was a no brainer do Jack and Rice. They deserve the biggest of stages and Ireland could never offer that.

6.) 02 Jun 2021 22:27:14
What part of Ireland are u guys from? I’m from Carlow myself.

24 May 2021 12:23:17
Well we can’t complain can we?
A solid 11th place, top West Midlands team again. What’s more we finished with 2 wins against so called ESL teams ( London Blue and London White) . couldn’t help but notice Herr Flick was getting his knickers in a knot, until someone whispered in his ear that London White were winning at Leicester.
So on to next season then, and my advice to Deano is Chuk him in from the start because he can’t half play Carney. 😁
And good luck tonight to our extremely talented u18 team in the final against Liverpool 💪🏻🤞🏻.

1.) 24 May 2021 13:44:18
A good solid season indeed Mark. It shows we can mix it with the big boys and I echo your sentiments with regards our youth tonight good luck lads.

2.) 24 May 2021 16:24:22
Our 1st team beat their kids a few years back, then their 1st team beat our kids this season, now it's the ultimate showdown-lets get ready to ruuuuummmmbbblllleee. Come on the young lions 🦁💪.

01 May 2021 22:15:25
Happy days are here again.
We’ve had to wait a while but boy did I enjoy watching that performance.
A fully deserved win, well played lads 👏👏👏.

Alvarez is apparently very adept at playing centre forward as well, so could be a good replacement/ competition for Ollie, who used to be a winger himself.
And yes, very witty Moosey boy, as we’ve come to expect 😁.

It would be great to have Ashley back at the club. Apart from being an asset on the pitch and a very capable replacement for Matt Targett, I think he could have a big influence on our younger players. We are lacking players with his level of experience, and that in itself would be invaluable.

Chris, I’ve read up a bit on this and I expect you probably have done also, but for the benefit of those who haven’t
EU players will need a GBE ( Governing Body Endorsement ) . This can only be immediately approved with a score of 15 points. Points are awarded on criteria, including no. Of international caps and the FIFA ranking of the players country. The strength of the league from which the player is arriving from and the number of club appearances they have already made is also a factor.
If a player scores between 10 and 14 points an exceptions panel will make a ruling.
I did read however, that there could be a special permissions for players between 18 and 19, if they don’t qualify for a GBE, such as if they have made a certain number of appearances in the first team of their current club, but it didn’t specify how many.

For less than10 million as well. They wanted double that from Villa last year. What was it he supposedly said?
Something like, he didn’t want to join a team involved in a relegation battle. Has anybody told him Norwich are favourites to go down 🤔.

The type of football ( if that’s what you call it ) that Southgate wants them to play isn’t what any of them are used to with their clubs. None of them look comfortable with it at all, and the lack of movement generally suggested to me that some, if not all of them are fed up with what they’re being asked to do. The French commentators repeatedly said that everything England did was so pedestrian and predictable. They were right, it really was a yawn to watch.
If we do have to play France at some point, they probably will humiliate us. Their players are better, and their style of play is superior and exciting to watch. To be honest even with a better manager at the helm, I doubt we would match them.

Trippier at left back, ahead of Chilwell and Shaw who have both been excellent this season 🤷🏼.
We knew he wouldn’t pick Jack didn’t we? Frankly he doesn’t deserve to have him at his disposal.
