According to some reports this morning Jack is set to be on the bench this afternoon with Mount and Rashford starting. It seems like form counts for nothing. Jack has been much better than either Rashford or Mount since lockdown.

The one thing I agree with Southgate on is that Jack isn't Gazza and that comparisons aren't helpful, but currently he is the best English midfielder in the country and still he can't nail down a regular place in a decidedly average England team. One thing is for sure he will not win many caps while the current idiot is in charge.

Jack’s leg was heavily strapped during the Wales game and by his own admission he nearly missed the Liverpool game because of a slight hamstring tweak, I think.
So as much as I agree with you John about Southgate, if Jack is carrying a bit of an injury, perhaps best he rests until next weekend. Personally, I would much prefer to see him featuring for Villa against Leicester than against Belgium today. However if he is currently slightly handicapped, he was still England’s best player against Wales, which should surely strengthen his case even more for regular starts in the future. That’s the logic anyway, with Southgate in charge though, it will remain doubtful.
He doesn’t deserve to have somebody of Jack’s ability at his disposal.

I agree Mark Villa has to be the priority, but how demoralising for a player that no matter how well you perform you will remain lower down the pecking order than less talented individuals particularly when the current squad are bang average at best. I would bet that in most other national sides he would be one of the first names on the team sheet.

He certainly would be if he was French. The way Jack plays reminds me so much of Antoine Griezmann. I would imagine when Deschamps picks his sides, Griezmann would be one of the first on the team sheet. When Jack’s at his best, I would say he’s even better.

Guys just a simple reminder that shows there has to be bias with Southgate, De bruyne arguably the best attacking midfield player in the world Jack was second only to only him in stats last season, says it all to me. Agree with everything said, it may be a blessing if he rests, however I still think its a tavisty the way he has been treated by that clown Southgate. It will come out one day the reasons, unfortunately it may be too late by then. let's hope before then common sense and fairness prevail.

After his motm against wales and the reception his performance got from all football fans, not just villa ones, I no longer care if he gets picked or not. From here on out if he doesn’t it’s clearly an issue with Southgate, and one that will piss off everyone should we fall short.

Can’t wait to see mason mount press really well and play one two short passes really quickly😉😂.

When a player has so much talent and can change games, only a stubborn pig headed fool would ignore this, did I just describe Southgate.

He doesn’t have the tactical awareness to manage at international level and didn’t have it at club level either when he was with Boro.
