Do people really think sean dyche is the answer if smith goes? I look at burnley and i think there crap an borring to watch. End of the day forget players if smith does go your biggest signing will be your manager we need to bounce back straight away no messing so we need a huge name poch or rafa or koaman pay big anybody would come. Show some ambition for once!

With all due respect walkies, Dyche was financially restricted at Burnley.

Not like they don't spend, just not top 6 level spending, and isn't that exactly the same situation Smith came from?
Moyes hasn't done anything of note since leaving Everton.
Some managers are just best left to low budget teams because that's where they thrive with low expectations.

{Ed001's Note - you know Dyche took them over and they were literally bankrupt and he had to sell half the squad in his first season just to keep them alive. The reason they have money is because he has done so well, he never spends big, even after their relegation back down to the Championship. He got the club to invest first in infrastructure before he would spend on players.}

Thank you Ed.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome. As for Smith, Brentford is totally different, they have everything in place, including a system of playing, all they hire are head coaches to coach the system there already. So it is totally different, Smith had little to no say on transfers or spending in general while at Brentford, Dyche pretty much runs Burnley like an old school manager.}

What Burnley were and what they are now is different. Dyche was part of that and deserves credit.
You absolutely cannot deny the fact they consistently buy £10,15,20mill players now though and still that is sometimes wasted (Andre gray for instance)

{Ed001's Note - their biggest money signing this season was Brownhill for £9m, paid for by the sale of Heaton to you. They have bought just 5 players who cost £10m or more since the season Gray arrived, including Gray, in 2015. I would not call that consistent. I would also say that you have a strange idea of wasted money when they sold Gray for nearly double what they paid for him.}

Without going into too much detail Sean Dyche has done a real good job at Burnley, and they have in fact broke a number of long-standing club records under his guidance.
Dyche is what I call a good solid, no frills Manager, who could possibly flourish at a bigger club, given the necessary time and backing.

{Ed001's Note - I just worry that he would not digress from his current playing style. That is the big issue with him, if he doesn't adapt to better football, he will never make it at the top end. He has always said he plays the way he does because they have to, so maybe he could make it work at a bigger club.}

That is a good point Ed, and would also be a concern of mine.
Having said that, I would hope that he would adapt to the requirements of the club.
He was moved on from Watford, at a time when things were starting to improve at the club.
And as already mentioned, he has worked some magic at Burnley while being shackled financially.
So fairly impressive under the circumstances.

{Ed001's Note - yeah he has done exceptional work there, it would be a shame if he never got the chance to prove himself.}

Sure would, time will tell.

I still hope we stick wtth Delano but if we are relegated and he does get the old heave ho I wonder whether Dyche would be prepared to take a step down in the short term with the hope of turning us around.

That`s the big Q John mate.
I would love it to work out for Deano, its difficult to know for sure whether he had any say, if any, about the players we brought in.
If he did its not good enough, if he didn`t he should be given the chance to get us out of the situation we are in.

On what planet would Burnley’s signing off Gray be considered a “waste”? Brought for 12 Million, sold for 20. Top Scorer in the 15/ 16 season with 25 Goals when Burnley bounced straight back up to the Prem, first time of asking. This is why many people hold back from debating on here sometimes, in my opinion, too many posters completely fabricate things to support their argument, just makes things pointless.

Sidenote: good read Dave and Ed, I really like Dyche, and want to see him take on a fresh challenge, to see if he can emulate his success at a higher level, all round good bloke aswell, listening to him on the Peter Crouch pod he’s hilarious. My only worry is at most clubs, Villa included, if he was gaffer, give it one or two bad results and he’d have the fans on his back moaning about the style of football.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate and I fully agree, that would be the issue with him at any big club.}

Good post chris, common sense mate, and a realization of someone doing a a very job.
If that was Mourinho or Fergusson it would be listed as a stroke of genius.
