What a pleasure it was watching Spain v Italy last night, it makes a change watching two coaches whose approach to the game was based on how they could impose there style of play on the opposition rather than looking at how to stop the opponent playing. It was also refreshing to see the ball being moved from back to front more quickly which led to a thoroughly entertaining game. I would love to see us adopt a similar approach tonight, will we do that? I very much doubt it unfortunately.

John, agree mate, unfortunately the nations expectations are so high that Southgate is under pressure to deliver a result, so we have to expect pretty much what we have already seen, if we win it he will be totally vindicated so i suppose we will all be happy in the end then.

I think you are right Scotty, however if we play that way against the Italians we will get done of that I have no doubt. The sad thing is we have the players who are a match for any of the teams in this competition and it’s been a while since we could say that but we seem afraid to let them off the leash. I wish we had someone with the outlook of Terry Venables in charge, when you look back to 96 and how we dismantled the Dutch who were at the time one of the best sides in the world let alone Europe if you have the will and attacking intent then that’s what is achievable,
