Many on here have pondered if any of our young loanees will make the grade, in particular Cam Archer, many think he should be given a chance next season. I see he has been dropped for this evenings game at Bristol, if he can't hold down a regular place in the championship, i can' see Emery selling him in the Summer. This would help the player possibly getting regular football and we could possibly get decent money. I can't ever see him ever getting regular football with us. It would be good if Middlesbrough get promoted and he signs for them.

He’s scored at every level he has been given the opportunity at but for some reason he wasn’t given the opportunity at premiership level which given the difficulties we were having in front of goal at one point was a tad surprising, however a number of coaches have had a look and clearly are of the same opinion as you ie he won’t cut it at the top level so I agree with you I think he will be sold I hope it doesn’t come back to bite us in the ass though, and that we include a hefty sell on clause as part of any deal.

I think the lad has real potential a naturally gifted forward.the problem is as we all know in this day and age of premiership football it’s always the quick fix buying a player rather than letting them grow through the ranks! But with the money involved/ invested by owners I can understand why they go down this route
Unfortunately all the young superstars in the making don’t turn out like a certain mr grealish

We have invested over the last couple of years,a lot of money into our academy. We have brought in top youngsters from, lower leagues and Scotland . We have talent out on loan, like Tim, archer and young Ramsey,if they aren’t going to be looked at or given a chance, why do all the investing .
From what I can gather,Carrick left Archer out, just to change things around . Archer is a natural instinctive striker, whether he could do it in the Premier, we will never know if he’s not given the chance .
Chelsea have for years brought up all the top young talent in the world, loaned them out and hardly played any of them, I bet they’ve forgotten some of them .

The problem is if you don’t give them a go you are never going to know, look at the lad Ferguson at Brighton. I think we will sell him but I’m not sure it’s the right decision.

Emery has said we will be after "strikers" (plural) in the summer - For me that spells the end of Archer at Villa, we'll probably pocket 15M+ for me and that'll go towards a top quality striker for next season. It's not what most fans want when they think about having a successful academy but ours will become a consistent source of revenue going forward with a sprinkling of genuinely supurb players who will make it into the first team, that to me is a very successful academy. Archer will probably be the first example of this in the summer.

Going back to Scotcaffu original post, he was left out of the team tonight but to be fair to the lad he’s competing with Akpom the top scoring striker in the championship so maybe boro wasn’t the best place to send him?

Archer has had lots of game time, scored lots of goals and been praised by Carrick multiple times. He went on record as saying the team had a busy schedule and Archer just needed a rest, exactly the sort of thing any decent manager does with a young striker. Perfect place to send him in my book. So it's a bit unfair to say he was dropped or 'can't hold down a place'.
