I'm sure he has enough business acumen behind him to know how to terminate a contract, football is just another business after all and cancelling a contract be it paying them off surely is the same what ever business you apply it to.

No because very much like Charles n'zogbia who declined to leave early and get his contract paid off its up to the player i think our chairman as already said this so the best he can do is put them on a free transfer an hope somebody comes in for them otherwise you are stuck with them like zogbia players don't have to leave if they don't want to there contracted if villa want to end that contract legally the Player has to agree aswel it works visa versa as well. Hence that's why we had so many players in the reserves under Martin O'Neill they all sat there an took there wages an didn't want to leave why should they villa put them on these contracts so they dnt have to leave if they don't wana. Technically Aston Villa are looking to break a contract it's the same as in the real world you can't do it unless you are mutually agreed! And the lesson today people careful what you sign for! Sorry for the long right up I am somewhat an expert in the legal terms!

You can pay up contracts, just is an expensive way of losing a player.

The reason we got relegated is because Sherwood had no experience, Remi was also a terrible fit. We put the wrong players together with the moneyball approach. The players had nothing to play for, they knew the club was up for sale. We also had some terrible signings. Lescott and Richards should never have been signed.
I will not stop saying it but some of our players are very capable. Ayew, Amavi, Greaish, Traore, Gardner, Tshibolo, Gueye, Elphick, Lyden, Green, Clark, Baker, Hutton. We need some new signings but these players are not the reason we got relegated. There were many other reasons for that.

You can pay off a contract, that is why there is a price on it.
Do your research before you post total rubbish, it's not hard, your in front of a computer or phone, using Google.

No it's not all bad mate the attitudes of the players is the main thing Micah Richards Joleon Lescott won the Premier League with Man City all the players you have named have a bit of talent but the whole squad needs to be together aswel and it just simply isn't but we are lacking quality! i will never like any of the squad from last year for what they done to us they hurt my football team apart from alan hutton!

I agree with what your Saying Chris AVFC . But let's face it what villa player will not accept the termination of contract?
They are all mercineries who will say yes to a big one off payout and then a large signing on fee with the next club they sign for .
So actually what Xia is saying is correct as he can move them in pretty easy if we pay the mo way to do so . Lerner couldn't get them out as he didn't want to lay the money to get shot .
What gets me is the negativity by some in here to the new chairman and manager for not buying players on a whim . We have done that and got the t shirt over the last few seasons and look where we are now!

Totally agree villa_kenn rdm has been assessing the squad for their ability and attitude, the ability is there as someone has said some of these players have won the league. The attitude was not there and it takes time to assess this as people can put up a front.
I believe rdm knows who he want to keep and get rid of now and it's a case of getting a deal sorted to terminate the contract or find a buyer. He wants a smaller squad to manage the personalities better and get a close knit group.
I anticipate the signings will come in the next week or two with one being the markee signing everyone is crying out for.
