Just read that Liverpool season ticket holders are up in arms over a 2% increase in price next season. Villa season ticket holders would have welcomed a 2% increase. Our increase was one of the highest in the premier league in some categories and a few uninformed on here thought it was ok. Liverpool fans and their solidarity might not change the 2% proposals, however it may well send a warning message to their board about future increases and make them think. I have absolutely no confidence in our board considering our loyal season ticket holders, they got away with it last year and will almost certainly be up there with another round of inexcusable price hikes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Scott, I think I might be one of the ‘uninformed’ you were talking about. I get that people are upset at season ticket price hikes, but we can’t have our cake and eat it, if we want to compete at the highest level then we have to continue to invest in the squad to do that we have to increase our revenue streams one of which is match day prices including season tickets. We can’t expect the owners to keep ploughing there own money into the club. Now if your prepared to accept the club being merely happy to stay in the Premier League then you may have an argument but if memory serves me right you are as keen as most of us on here to take the next step so what’s it to be accept season ticket price increases as one of the means of increasing revenue or maintain the status quo and risk mid table mediocrity.

Success comes at a price Scot, maybe Liverpool prices were already higher than ours, we have said it many times, if we want the big signings we have to make more revenue, long enough we have complained about watching mid table mediocre players, now we have better players and we are calling for more but at the same time complain about it costing us more, can’t have your cake and eat it, lots of fans would love to be in our position

The increase in income from the increase in season tickets wouldn't buy an average player in the championship, it's about the club rewarding those fans who have loyally invested in the club. I just wonder how many of all those who think the increases are both necessary and acceptable watch their footy on a fire stick for £50 a year.Of course not everyone can either for financial or logistical reasons purchase a season ticket and I fully accept that, I just think the increase levels are way beyond what is acceptable.

Living in Ireland limits me to a couple of games a year so I guess it does not affect me so much, just as a matter of interest Scot how much is the increase, I know you gave the percentage but what’s the bottom line? And does the season ticket cover the home European games?

The cheapest season ticket price has gone from £531 to £610 an increase of £79 if you do the maths £79 x 33000 the number of season ticket holders x 19 the number of premiership home games you’ll find that type of money will buy you something better than an ‘average championship player’ As I have said as fans we need to decide what we want do we want to push on or stand still. If we want to push on we have to increase revenue streams and we have to look at every aspect of the clubs commercial activity including ticket pricing

LOTM, unfortunately you haven't got your figures anywhere near correct. There are a range of prices, you have quoted one of the dearest. The 33000, is made up of three age range for kids, over 66, Disabled, family discounts.I would take a guess whilst the percentage increase is high, the overall average price increase across all classes would be nearer £40-50, tell me what you think we could get for £1.2 million, I suggest probably less than an average championship player.

The club also need to cover the increase in minimum wage, the energy price hikes and increased supplier prices due to their cost increases.
If they don't increase prices to cover all of the day to day costs going up then that leaves us having to take it out of the player wage bill which reduces our competitiveness.

Well Scotty if you don’t like the hike, vote with your feet and don’t go. I’m sure the club won’t have too much difficulty in finding someone to take your place.

11 Apr 2024 17:09:24
And that's your solution LOTM, I don't like the increases in food, beer, petrol should I take your wise advice and give all them up as well.

11 Apr 2024 17:30:28
So what’s the alternative? Either you accept the hike and continue to support the club in person, or you don’t and stop going, I don’t see an alternative to be honest. Happy to be advised if you see an alternative.
