I was talking to my nephew over the weekend who is a mad keen Arsenal fan, he was a fan of Emery and thought he suffered from the same issue that Moyes faced at Utd ie everyone who follows a club legend in the managerial hot seat is on a hiding to nothing and that Arsenal pulled the plug too soon. As part of the discussion he told me that Emery was a big fan of Zaha and that he was the player Emery really wanted to sign but the deal broke down and Arsenal ended up with Pepe! Personally i would be a bit conflicted if we went for Zaha, he is undoubtedly a talented player but his overall attitude stinks and I like him about as much as I like Robbie Savage but he would undoubtedly strengthen us out wide.

I don't think Emery will suffer from following a club legend in this job LOTI. Apart from possibly Ron Saunders, we haven't had one of those since George Ramsay retired in 1926 ?

I think Zaha is exactly what we need LOTI, a win at all cost mentality which is sorely lacking in our dressing room. I'd absolutely love him at Villa Park, quality player with a horrible attitude, opponents hate playing against him.
I see Nicolas Jackson is heavily liked today, would be an exciting addition, I wouldn't be overly surprised to see us going in for another winger (we are desperately short in that area), I just wonder if Zaha (who's 30 in November) might be slightly old, I can see us reverting back to the young signings with high ceilings transfer startegy again.

I think Zaha’s contract expires next summer so he might not be that expensive he would undoubtedly be an upgrade but I don’t like his attitude and it’s how he gels with the rest of the team, he strikes me as a bit of the ‘big I am’ type of character and I am not sure that’s what we need. The last thing we want is someone who comes along and splits the dressing room into factions.
