Hope the rumours of this Cheick Deucore are correct, right age, big and strong DM . He certainly looks what we need, a destroyer. Marvellous has been doing a good job, but this kid looks more imposing. Against the better sides, we could always play both, because we have more than enough, going forwards .
We wait and see .

He looks a decent unit, though it seems we have yet to table an offer and Atalanta are also interested. Lens are looking for 1 million - Markdavfrance - any insight?

2.) 09 Aug 2021 16:47:30
Menace, I think you’ll find Lens are reported to want around 15 million euros for Doucoure. Haven’t seen a great deal of him to be honest but he did play in all of Lens games last season, and they finished a very creditable 7th in Ligue 1. He is said to have played a big part in that achievement.
Apparently he learned his trade at the same Academy as Yves Bissouma, doesn’t of course mean he’s as talented but hey you never know, could be a gem in the making.

3.) 09 Aug 2021 16:56:30
Forgot to mention, I watched Metz v Lille last night, just to take a look at Pape Matar Sarr, as Villa have shown an interest. I can definitely see why, what a terrific young player he is. Very box to box type performance and his style reminded me of Paul Pogba.

4.) 09 Aug 2021 18:10:01
At six foot I wouldn’t really say he was big or a unit, but in all the stats and highlights I’ve seen, it’s clear to see why we’re after him!

5.) 10 Aug 2021 09:49:55
Sorry Mark. I did type 15 million but, over lockdown, my keyboard has become increasingly full of cake crumbs so occasionally skips a character 🍰.

6.) 13 Aug 2021 23:39:53
If any position still appears open for a recruit, DM looks to be it. I get the feeling that any further additions will be few now. In some ways, I am comfortable with that because I think too much change is hard for a squad to digest.

But for some floppy haired guy doing the dirty on us, it had appeared that 2 or 3 changes in the pipeline were the sum of our recruitment plan. Now we could be looking at 6 or 7 new players, all told. That is a big number to integrate with little run in to the season.

Perhaps we might now see a swing towards a few outgoings; either as loans or possible sales. Big Wes, Hourihane and maybe AEG could potentially feature.

In many ways, I would hope a smattering of the younger guys now get the chance to come into Smith’s final squad. Sinasalo, Chuckwuemeka (Jr) and Philogene-Bidace appear to have made decent bids.

Weighing it all up, I think we are shaping up pretty well, but as fans, we need to remain patient. There is plenty of player bedding in to achieve over the next few months.

Clearly, our plan to bring in Buendia as a second source of real creativity took a bit of a backwards step with the loss our our original inspiration, but other strengths have compensated. The addition of Danny Ings, in particular, demonstrates this.

Given our need to react quickly to the loss of a key player, I think we have good reason to remain optimistic that we have managed to remain on course with our development plan. Whether this year will be a big step forwards, I am not certain, but, arguably, I only see five teams markedly ahead of us in terms of squad strength.

Respected American sports writer, who just happens to be a Milwaukee Bucks fan, C, J, Golson, says he has good information, that Jacks staying . So hope he's right .

1.) 03 Aug 2021 15:20:29
By all accounts this lad is very reliable in the US, weird he would know anything that the UK press doesn't though. Hope it's true but I've done a complete 180 on Jack, he's off for me until the Club confirms otherwise.

2.) 03 Aug 2021 23:21:46
Apparently, he is big buddies with Wes (Edens, not Moraes) . Somehow, I cannot imagine our co-owner spilling the beans whilst negotiations are rather delicate.

Grealish appears to be the catalyst to the next stage in proceedings. Either he expresses a wish to stay or go. Salary appears to be pretty much the same, so his conundrum is weighing up fairly certain cups and medals against his roots and the potential Villa have to make the breakthrough. I have no idea how much he is his own man or how easily he is swayed, so it is a difficult one to call with any confidence.

The media reports suggests the situation will be settled this week. I hope so because it is dragging on longer than. ‘Who killed JR? ’.

01 Aug 2021 18:23:20
My son just shown me pictures on Twitter, Jack, Mings and Martinez, back at training. Some have been reporting, that he was in Manchester today.

1.) 01 Aug 2021 21:01:31
Should be illegal to print lies just to get clicks.

2.) 02 Aug 2021 10:08:37
Good to see, he has been out talisman for the last few seasons and I for one will wish him well whatever he chooses. In other news has anyone seen the potential click bait linking us with Damsgaard? 35
Million euros muted - Ed you heard anything?

{Ed002's Note - Mikkel Damsgaard (LW/AM) Spurs asked after a price for the player at the behest of Mr Mourinho who may have taken his interest on to Roma. Real Madrid consider him an option at the right price if they sell Isco. Sampdoria saying Southampton and Leeds have both enquired about the availability of the player who only joined last summer. They have told Milan that they are not open to being given their "off cuts" in exchange and want a huge cash deal - but Milan would need to sell Leao to bring him in - and they also need the money to complete the Tonali deal. Sampdoria are reluctant to sell but I suspect more clubs will be showing an interest.}

3.) 02 Aug 2021 10:35:46
Our name just being added for clicks by the sounds of things then.

If Bailey gets done, until Grealish has gone I can’t see us going after another wide man. JWP or someone similar should be the priority.

4.) 02 Aug 2021 11:48:08
I wonder if the Damsgaard rumours are true and we do sign Bailey whether the plan might be to play Bailey right Damsgaard left with Buendia playing the 10 role?

5.) 02 Aug 2021 12:34:07
Thanks Ed, great info as always. Great signing for any club in IMO I agree that we should focus on JWP should grealish does leave as it provides us great creativity and depth in the squad something we severely missed last season when he was injured.

6.) 02 Aug 2021 14:28:53
If Jack leaves and is replaced with Damsgaard and JWP then that is borderline acceptable. Buendia, Baily and Damsgaard all young players with high ceilings, may derail any genuine progress this year but next season we will have a much more balanced and talented squad.

8.) 02 Aug 2021 14:53:51
If we do get damsgaard and JWP we would have one of the most exciting attacking lines in the PL coupled with our formidable defence …. Makes us quite a force moving forward. It would seem we may be a team to be feared again and return B6 to a fortress.

9.) 02 Aug 2021 15:44:47
Interesting piece on TalkSPORT at lunchtime talking about Bailey, apparently on his day he is scintillating and can win games on his own but his day doesn’t come round often enough and that rather than any concerns about his being a disruptive influence is why bigger clubs have decided against moving for him. Interestingly they think that as things stand he might not get into Leverkusen’s best starting XI which I have to confess is a little worrying although as we have seen his stats do look good.

10.) 02 Aug 2021 15:46:03
Guys news just in Grealish "Prepared" to sign new deal at Villa! City have a window to make it happen but reading between the lines he is stalling on a move!

I have now seen the thread and replied on it. Absolutely gutted. Rip villadave.

4.) 13 Sep 2021 23:49:47
Very saddened to learn of his passing he often visited our page and was a lovely bloke.
Thoughts are with his family and friends.

06 Sep 2021 12:05:20
With all the argument about our Argentinian players, I hadn't thought about Dougie. Listening last night they were saying, Brasil had 9 British based players, they haven't called up, so is Dougie still here?

1.) 06 Sep 2021 12:19:33
Yea Dougie is training mate. I think that was Brazil’s Gripe, they didn’t call up any of the nine because the government wouldn’t grant an exception to the isolation rule. So when Argentina suddenly had 4 players based in the UK, they understandably felt hard done by!

01 Sep 2021 20:12:12
The Three Musketeers, Chuck, Bidace and Gardener, showed us just how important these kids will be to us . Their performance once again was excellent. Chuck has shown he is more than capable in the centre. Bidace has shown his ability on and of the ball, also his Skill around the goal . Archer is in the same bracket, got a great future ahead of him .
All the worries about not enough signings, just consider the above players, surely they can more than enough fill places when needed.

1.) 01 Sep 2021 21:00:34
Dd82 Absolutely right.
The middle of the park is all covered with strong youth.
The front of the park is well sorted, lots of money spent.
However we still look weak at the back.
Too many times opposition players are left alone and strike at goal.
Our teams future is bright, but my fear is that we are vulnerable to through balls the way the team sets up.
Cant help it. That's what I see.

2.) 01 Sep 2021 21:37:46

3.) 02 Sep 2021 00:32:10
I would of also liked to strengthen CM position but the players we have there done a pretty good job last year, 5th best defence in the league, what we lacked and what cost of some positions in the final league table was goals and creativity when jack got injured, window is over, the club spent 100 million on players so now we got to be positive and support them JWP and smith Rowe are not defensive midfielders but yet if we had signed them I think a lot of guys here would be happier, I might not trust Deano 100% but I trust our owners and we cannot question their ambition to make us great again, we have spent the guts of 400 million in the past 3 seasons, be grateful for it and remember where we were under Tony xia, we will get there.

28 Aug 2021 00:07:20
Haven't heard a peep out of the noses up the club in weeks, now they are all over excited about Troy Deany joining them, sorry sorry lot .

26 Aug 2021 22:01:03
Another one who was never given his proper chance Veretout, has been called into the French squad . When we signed him, his stats where great, involved in %46 of all his teams goal . He was another one, always played in anywhere but his preferred position . Since leaving he has gone back to being a good player . Why is it time and again, managers buy players and then try to change them .
Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

1.) 26 Aug 2021 22:25:44
Watched him play for Roma at the weekend he scored 2 and looked quality, it just goes to show that the recruitment after we sold Benteke wasn’t that bad (Gueye, Amavi, Veretout) it’s just the club was a shambles which made it difficult for the foreign players to settle, and the management didn’t know who were the best eleven to play. We are in a much better place now thank god.

2.) 27 Aug 2021 00:12:51
Just shows what he could of been for us .

3.) 27 Aug 2021 09:57:53
Club was a shambles, brought in players the manager didn’t want or even know, worse part was, the players knew the manager didn’t have any say in their transfers, so from the outset there was no respect for the manager. He gets sacked, then we bring in a manager who was our third choice at the time and only on the list because he was French and we had a large group of unhappy new signings. The rest of the squad then know it’s all about the new boys, the new manager turns out to be absolutely useless any how, and both groups of players down tools.

As you say hypothetical, but as you say, if Jack honestly thought it was possible, I’m sure he would prefer the later . To be captain of the club you’ve always supported and have a go at Europe, would surely be his dream .

If it’s correct abut Nelsson, then perhaps Engles injury is worse than thought .
Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

{Ed002's Note - Victor Nelsson (CB) Copenhagen value the youngster at €10M putting off interest from Gent, Celtic and Gronigen. One assumes at the behest of Johan Lange, Aston Villa have made their interest known, as have Union Berlin.}

Eva Targett was players, player last season, you don’t suddenly become a rubbish player, When you see he had no pre season, got injured just as we where starting back .
I thought he was better today, still not up to last season’s standard, but needs the playing time .
