How much are we going save in wages without Tielemans, Rogers, Digne, Sancho, Elliot, Bailey? It surely gives us room for a couple of higher paid real class players. Should be an interesting start to the new season with a different looking Stadium and a reduced capacity.
Can't wait, I'm off to Salzburg first so we should get to see our new squad in action against real quality.
19 Jul 2026 16:58:07
The reason we are doing what we are doing, Scott, is to lower the wage bill so we comply with SCR. We can give new players a bigger signing on fee, but with lower wages, I'm led to believe we have a lot of wiggle room now, so expect at least another 4-5 signings in the region of 25-60 million.
19 Jul 2026 19:19:29
For me, if we could land Rashford, Ferran Torres, and an out and out centre forward, Thiago at Brentford would be my choice, but I think he is probably out of our price range, and I think Jackson is probably more realistic.
I think it's a decent window, particularly if we could add a couple of loan signings as well. The key thing will be to get the signings in early, so Unai has time to work with the squad before the season starts.

How about this 1… Moussa Diaby? Transfermarket has him valued at €25M, I know you’re gonna say wages but maybe he’s set up for life now (by a long way) with what he’s been paid so far in Saudi, stranger things have happened… 🤔

Diaby was bang average.
Unless he's got space to run in behind, he's so ineffective. Please remember Leon Bailey kept him out the side.

Bellingham will take all the plaudits, but what a tournament Spence has had. After all the bad publicity he had after playing for Tottenham, his pace, energy and ability, has been a revelation. Felt sorry for Ollie, all the waiting, then gets put on the wing, with Tony the fridge freezer up front.
Great game, 10 goals speaks for itself. That was a bit arrogant by France, the space they gave us first half.
19 Jul 2026 16:49:56
Gotta admit, when they lined up for 1 of the warm up games, I didn't even know who Spence was. Asked my pals who's that guy who looks like an extra from Mad Max. 😂 Fair play to him, already a folk hero now, I'd say. 👍🏻

I wonder what odds you would have got on a French win at half time?
18 Jul 2026 22:37:34
Wtf England 😂😂😂 (at 3-0)

Just imagine what England could have done in the last 4 years if they had a manager who actually had the balls to leave Kane out.
Movement creates opportunities, and opportunities lead to goals.
Son and Moura made Kane at Spurs and now he's playing for a club side that can pretty much walk it in most weeks.
No doubting his finishing ability, but that on its own just doesn't cut it at the top level anymore.
Plenty of players who can finish well enough but do a lot more alongside it.
It's not the first time an England team has put all their hopes on one player, but hopefully they learn. Spain might have Yamal, but they don't play like it's the Yamal show.
18 Jul 2026 23:00:16
Allstar, Ollie would love that space at the back. Tony has got as much movement as a fridgefreezer. HaHa UTV.
18 Jul 2026 23:06:35
100% agree both the above, worrying thing is the ages of Kane, Ollie, Toney, who's the next England up & coming striker? Can only think of Delap & his progress is gonna be stunted at Chelski.

Rogers, he already has the build, he just needs to be coached to do the unselfish parts of the game and be a bit more physical.

1 thing’s for sure, NewsNow is gonna go into overdrive with bs links to players now. 😂

Buy Summerville of Hammers plus Mbaye of PSG.
18 Jul 2026 21:48:06
You have to ask question of how can Chelsea afford it. No European football next season stadium capacity on a par with us but spend what they want. We see Spurs spending like it’s Monopoly money but just miss relegation 2 seasons running.
Simple truth is we cannot compete in this corrupt and unfair system.
18 Jul 2026 22:25:18
Was thinking this the other day. When the talk of PSR comes up on TalkSPORT, when Gabby's on, & he says about Spuds having concerts, NFL, boxing revenue at their stadium, I've been scratching my head trying to think if Chelski do the same. If they haven't, then how is it they can spend like they do?

Marcus Rashford anyone?
18 Jul 2026 21:54:46
If we buy Rashford, then United will buy Summerville. We need to buy Summerville, in my opinion. Rashford is getting on and has big wages, no resale value, and that's what we need.
18 Jul 2026 23:09:46
I'd take Rashford all day long. With Digne, Tielemans, Rogers, plus Barry and Dobbin, we have saved over half a million a week in terms of salary costs. Rashford won't command anything like the £325,000 a week that he's currently on.
He is quality, and we need to replace Tielemans and Rogers' goal contributions. He knows the League, and we know Emery can get the best out of him.

Sales are booked straight away on the accounts.
Purchases are amortized over length of contract.
So let's hypothetically say we've bought Pervis £12m/Manzambi £50m & Gomes £35m and they're all on 5 year contracts?
That will register as:
Pervis £2.5m
Manzambi £10m
Gomes £7m
Add there wages too, so add say another £15m (combined)
That means Villa's outlay this window is roughly £35m we're comfortable and could probably spend another £100m comfortably in the same way.Am I correct in saying this Ed?
{Ed001's Note - you are correct in that purchases can be amortised over a period, but it is not the length of contract any more, just up to 5 years, even if the player has a 20 year contract. They did that as Chelsea were handing out 8 year contracts to spread the costs of buying out.}
18 Jul 2026 21:47:35
Cheers for clarifying Ed
We are now in good stead with PSR/SCR.
Let the beast loose!
18 Jul 2026 20:55:05
Total sales now total 201 million, more than enough to keep PSR happy. Let’s spend wisely. In Unai we trust.
18 Jul 2026 20:31:29
My maths (or fees) might not be 100% here but Rogers £117M (nearly £94M with taking off Boro’s cut). Tielemans £35M (pure profit), £8M Digne, Dobbin £9M, Barry £3M & that’s without anyone else leaving around £150M. Manzambi £59M (Rogers replacement), Gomes £35M (Tielemans replacement), Estupinan £15M (Digne replacement).
Leaves £40M spare, Dobbin & Barry don’t really count as needing to be replaced. So say £40M for Mbaye & Roony (Barca) on loan with obligation/agreement to buy then we’ve pretty much spent £0M & our wage bill considerably less than last season.

I’m so frustrated and angry that I’m really surprised Unai has managed to keep his marbles, and decided to stay on at Villa.
Losing Tielemans, Rodgers, and potentially losing Konsa, Martinez and Watkins soon enough has got to be a massive blow to him and his plans to make us genuine title/CL contenders tenders.
We should have been in a great position to keep all our players and add 3-4 quality players to push for more trophies, instead it looks as though we are starting from scratch again and if I’m honest I can see us struggling for top 10 next season and I can see Unai leaving very soon.
I’m so angry with SCR/PSR and the establishment who clearly have got what they wanted and are watching clubs being dismantled and thrown off the top to ensure the current establishment are securely locked in at the top without being threatened.
Disgusting and shameful that this has been allowed to happen.
18 Jul 2026 21:23:47
I'm completely the opposite on that, Shane. Should all those players go as well, they'll be replaced, in most cases by younger players, so in the long term only good for Villa. I'm actually excited about the new season now. Think we've got more attack minded football to look forward to.
