Couldn't see it happening at this point. It's too late to get replacements. We have lots of money to spend, either way, we don't need to sell to buy. Maatsen is being offered better terms and a new contract, according to Sky.

Hey Ed's, what's the deal with the consolidation clause in the Watkins deal, do they get some cash every time he was sold? Seems like a great way of helping out the smaller clubs.

That is in all transfers, along with 5% going to the player, unless he puts in a written request for a transfer. The idea is to encourage clubs to continue to work on youth development, knowing they will get money in future, even if they lose the player on a free initially.}

I could be wrong, but I believe it only applies to EFL clubs as a way to encourage them to keep investing in youth.
Before these agreed guidelines came in, quite a few clubs were shutting down their youth systems to save money.
Clubs were getting fed up of spending loads of money developing future stars, and only getting a nominal fee. The costs of training and paying 20+ youngsters, compared to only receiving £50k-100k every year or two, didn't add up.
{Ed001's Note - it is a FIFA thing, it applies worldwide, it is just Prem clubs don't really notice a few hundred thousand. Teams like Exeter can be transformed with one sale of a former youth player though.}

With the age of the side, and the cost of established players, this is the way to go.
When you look at last season's players, very few were household names or actually in demand by other clubs. Unai coached the team to achieve. Give him a chance to do it with this younger, and hopefully faster and fitter, bunch of players.

Just had a look at Harwood Bellis' YouTube. The guy can pick a long pass like Glen Hoddle in his prime. It makes me think that, with Suzuki being able to throw 60M+, we should kill it on fast counter attacks. 🤔

Exactly, pluffy. Just think back to when Unai took over. Lots of Villa fans wanted to get rid of McGinn. Unai sorted him out. If we finish top 8, then we'll have had a good season given what's happened.

Can the eds clear up the gomes ban. I'm sure he received two yellows, one for waving an imaginary card and one for kicking out. Two yellows means 1 match ban surely

I didn't see the game, but didn't VAR upgrade it to a red card? Either which way, he needs to calm down. He's got booked every game he played for us. A few games on the sideline might teach him something. We have Leon either way, I'm excited to see what he brings.

This is Emery's team now. So far, he's worked wonders with mostly players brought in by someone else, and I believe he'll do even better with the players he's chosen himself.
