Why has the Benrhama thing gone quiet?

I know there has been a lot of chat on here about him and he splits opinion - but if Palace get him for 20m, I think that is a fantastic buy.

I am not at all convinced by Traore and for similar money would rather go with Benrhama (even if i can't spell his name! ) .

But will be delighted if Traore prove me wrong :)

I have seen Palace are no longer interested.

2.) 17 Sep 2020 19:23:52
Why are you not convinced with Traore MV.
And on Benrahma, there are plenty saying he has got no prem pedigree, so you can`t win can you.
We will have to wait and see, I trust our new approach and Vision.

Like most wingers Traoré has his off days, but when he’s on it MV, he’s unstoppable.

4.) 17 Sep 2020 20:58:10
Don’t think Palace can do anything, until Zaha is moved on . Saw an interview with Woy sorry Roy, earlier and he seemed frustrated. Personally I wouldn’t mind Benrahma, the link with Watkins speaks for itself.

Traore has power and skill and plenty of tricks but I am not convinced about the final ball. I don't think he is a step up on Trezeguet.

To be fair though, I would have said the same a year ago about Adama Traore but he has become so consistent - maybe Traore's take a while to bloom :D certainly hope so, and I do see plenty at Villa at the moment to believe in and get really excited about.

6.) 18 Sep 2020 01:14:30
Djimmi Traore didn't bloom at all!

7.) 18 Sep 2020 09:42:34
Benrahma doesn’t want to leave London by all reports, so probably best to leave that one there.

Traore is no doubt talented, but he struggled massively last year, and it’s well documented, so I doubt we’ll be pinning all hopes on him, I expect we’ll see another wide man coming in as well as him.

8.) 18 Sep 2020 14:29:18
Read some great articles about Traore. and why it didn’t work for him last year. Managerial changes leading to formation change, and he struggled the games he did get pushed back to RWB. In our system, he’ll fly.

The Benrahma situation is interesting, as he clearly had a brilliant season, but he played Jack’s role, wide left cutting in. He doesn’t have pace, and that seems to be what we’re looking for. There’s clearly confirmed interest in Rashica, it’s just whether we win that race. Rumours are it’s just the fee and we’re only €2m apart?

9.) 18 Sep 2020 17:22:54
I don’t think the fee is the problem with Rashica he just thinks he should be playing at a level above us, and is waiting for a club who has qualified for Europe to come in for him. We should move on to other targets if he signs does well and another club comes in for him, we will have a Ryan Fraser situation on our hands. It’s interesting that all the so called interested clubs have baulked at buying him is it because of the size of the fee? well it isn’t an exhorbitant amount being asked for, or is it because the player is a bad apple?

Hi there,

Not a rumour, just a curiosity.

Anyone know where Louie Barry is?

On the AVFC site he doesn't appear in the First Team, U23 or the Academy team. I cannot find him anywhere. Thought he might be a bench player this year!

p. s. great news on Martinez!

Oh yes, definitely give him a chance. Some players blossom when the time is right and maybe this is his time now.

I'm absolutely gutted he we haven't got him - I don't rate Traore and King much at all, it was Benrahma for me all the way. Delighted to see him given the opportunity in the Prem.

I would also be absolutely delighted to be wrong about Traore :D.

Yeah, I'd sell him to them in a heartbeat. If he goes on loan and does nothing we won't be able to sell him and will have to pay him for 4 more years.

I don't rate the transfer window much.

The squad is stronger but the first team weaker. There is a lot of talk of building us up for Europe but if that is the truth then this year was a huge step backwards. We spent about £103m and got £100m for Jack. So if Jack had stayed would we only have spent £3m in a push for Europe.

The owners have spent huge in the last few windows and I think they are realising that it is still a small amount to invest if they are serious for European football.

Personally, I don't think this ever was about Europe, it was about financial stability and buying players to add value, then sell on - business was the first option over Europe in my view. Which after the past decade is gratefully welcome.

The players we got in were good - well I don't get Ashley Young, and I don't get Tuanzebe when we said no more old players and no more loan players - but the 3 others are decent. Makes first team selection a bit of a nightmare but hopefully some can step up under the pressure.

A 'D' for me this window. We are nowhere near Europe but I don't think we need to worry about relegation - will finish similar to last year, maybe 10th if we are lucky. Which having taken 4 points from a definite 9 (if we are serious about Europe) doesn't look likely to me.

Gonna be great to see Bailey, Buendia and Traore this year. And I still think Watkins has 20 in him this year. All exciting stuff.

The defence is looking a lot better but I think it is a combination of things. Since lockdown there has been more fight but also Luiz is playing a heck of a lot better so protecting the defence more. Konsa has improved beyond all recognition and the defence was sat in front of Reina - a bit dodgy at time but must give you a lot more confidence. And this season so far we are more of a threat up front which takes a heck of a lot of pressure off the defence.
When we went 1-0 up i thought we would hang on - how many of us could have said that last year.
Confidence is up and it is all working smoothly, at the moment.

I still want Benrahma in - and although I know nothing about Nelsson, I think another CB would be good.

I'd also play Trez as out and out striker when Watkins not playing. Trez was the best finisher we had last year, he got int he right places a lot last year and that was from the wing, for me he is worth a crack at striker. Then Wesley fit from January to see what he can do. I think that will get us through this year.

Traore would make a great sub to bring - a front 3 of Watkins, Edouard and Jack would be pretty good - can Watkins play out wide? Did he do that at Brentford?

As has been said there would be so many options - including and out and out front two.

Nice problems to have :)
