Great great point even better when you consider we played with 10 men when coutinho came on.

Scores the “winner” though. Where the heck was VAR!

It's been a clear instruction for some time now. Keep the flag down. What an idiot. Yet another officiating blunder. I expect we will get the customary apology. Or maybe not.

When will Brucie learn .

Whatever your view of Bruce and mine isn't that positive. However he had recently moved back to his family mansion in the Solihull area, he's now got another well paid job on his doorstep, most people would do exactly the same, you can't blame him having his cake and eating it .

Dean Smith didn't lose his job because of the fans he lost his job because he was clueless without grealish. %21 win rate without jack says it all

I guess by all the messages he's received from people inside of football that they don't know nothing about the game too then eh?

2.) 07 Nov 2021 19:30:02
It’s called respect daz, every outgoing manager gets the same type of messages and well wishes. he had a good run but to many bad results since last Christmas, wish him the best of luck going forward but as a club we move on now, no one person is bigger than villa.

3.) 07 Nov 2021 20:30:23
To many just don't get it Whack, i just wonder what these guys would be saying after the next five defeats,Football is a results industry fail you go, its as simple as that

4.) 07 Nov 2021 22:19:53
I think it’s the vocal minority who don’t get it, the contented majority tend not to scream from the rooftops when clubbs go on a bad run, clubs don’t win anything when they change managers as frequently as there socks. I tend to trust the opinions of the respected football pundits who to a man feel Smith had earned the right to a little more time than he got, particularly given what he had achieved in his 3 year tenure.
Having said all that I fully accept we have to move on, however the next appointment is really critical and has to be right unfortunately given our previous track record when it comes to manager selection I think selecting a Remi Garde type is more likely than a Ron Saunders.

5.) 08 Nov 2021 09:54:41
I hear what your saying lord, that said the fact that the pundits were talking about it before it happened shows that it was on the cards and quiet a high possibility of happening, it’s just the way it is these days, I think Norwich sacking farke was the nail in the coffin, clubs are more ruthless nowadays and results have to match owner ambitions. agree that next appointment is crucial, I don’t think the danish guy is the right man for the job, I’d rather gerrard tbh and at that he wouldn’t be my first choice, I think emery or fonseca would be my choices we need a manager with good club management experience, anything else is a risk, I see some supporters calling for us to try snatch howe from Newcastle grasp but he’s not for me if I’m honest. who would you like to see?
Hey Ed how about a poll? Smith sacking right or wrong, just so we have a good idea of the split of opinions on here

6.) 08 Nov 2021 10:00:30
Also lord you only have to ask Chelsea fans if they are still lamenting about lampard getting sacked or more focused on their champions league win and sitting top of the league, new managers do work and I’m hopeful that a fresh approach will see some of our players going up a level

7.) 08 Nov 2021 13:00:45
I get the point re Tuchel but sadly we ain’t fishing in the Tuchel pool when it comes to managers. I agree with you in terms of wanting a manager who has a track record in club management however if I could attract someone with experience in both club and international management so much the better. With that in mind the managers I would opt for would be Roberto Martinez as first choice, failing that Gerrard or Potter however I am not sure any of the aforementioned would come. I also have a sneaking admiration for Scott Parker but I don’t think his track record is strong enough as yet to get the job.

Buendia should be playing in his best position on the right not through the middle it's not his fault Smith doesn't play him there. The blokes clueless time to go I'm afraid

Buendia on the right definitely gave us more defensive cover with his higher work rate than Bailey. Difficult for Deano to change things with subs as we didn't have players available to come on and make a difference. Admittedly I think we could've brought on Ramsey for El Ghazi and put him next to Nakamba with Bailey and Buendia out wide with McGinn behind Watkins. Easy to say that though when I'm sat at home watching with a couple of beers.
