Rules may technically have been different back then, but as a player who massively benefitted from a team spending money they didn't have, he is a massive hypocrite.

This! I watched United cheat on and off the pitch basically the entire way through my childhood and teens without any accountability whatrsoever. The mere mention of anything corrupt and it was simply laughed off. I remember the famous Jose and Rafa "rants" where everything they said was true and they were dismissed and ridiculed as crazy people.
I watched fergie decide how long they played for, who reffed them and a million other things that went unchallenged. To see so many united fans now calling city the scum of the earth isnt just hypocritical, its projection!
