Just by playing players in there correct positions we seen a big improvement today. Makes you wonder why Stevie Gerrard didn't think of it?

I don't wonder at all mate :-) He's a terrible manager, or I should say he was a terrible manager for Villa, I hope he goes on to have a successful career elsewhere. Yesterday's result shows what can be achieved by playing our players in their correct position and not relying on under performing "favourites"! Also it shows any potential manager what this squad is capable of, I wouldn't be hugely surprised if some candidates who were on the fence are now more intersted in the position. Massive week ahead, if we can get our new manager in for Newcastle we could give them a real game.

It was a great result and I agree that playing players in the right positions is a good start and as you say it shows the potential in the squad, sadly though I don’t think it’s going to change the minds of the really top managers who could make a real difference to us. Poch isn’t interested, neither is Tuchel (although personally I’m not really to fussed about Tuchel) Amorim apparently wants to stay at Sporting. So whilst we might aspire to shop at Fortnum and Masons when it comes to managers I think in reality we will end up at Sainsbury’s.

Gerrard didn't think of it because his brain left him to go manage QPR

4.) 24 Oct 2022 13:19:43
I agree LOTI, I think Poch etc was a pipe dream, they were never going to take the role - That being said, Emery is now the favourite and if we can pull that one off it would be a massive coup, he's a rop drawer manager. It's very much believe it when I see it but yesterday definitely showed we can be an effective unit if deployed correctly.

I believe Callum Chambers will be a very good player for Villa next season. He has already showed what he can do and should get better after settling in. A full preseason along with confidence being shown in him by the manager should see greater improvement in Callum so and show what a great signing he is.

Totally agree, I rated him highly before he signed for Arsenal and was really shocked we managed to get him in on a free transfer!
It’s nice to pay nothing for decent players for once as opposed to years of wasting millions on rubbish!

Wondering what people think of this idea. Play Elmo in place of Cash and bring in Hasler on the right side. Believe he has pace to burn, but wouldn't neglect his defensive duties. And having an experienced man like Elmo to guide him on debut would also be a plus. Any thoughts?

That could work Odessa, and let’s face it Traoré hasn’t been playing well of late. Whether it’s at right back or right midfield/ wing, I certainly hope Kaine Kesler Hayden gets an opportunity today, to show us what he can do.

Good call that Odessa
Like to see Chuckenweka involved at some stage too even if it’s only a 20 minute cameo as a sub.
Really need to phase in some of these youngsters before they get disheartened.

3.) 25 Apr 2021 11:49:13
We’ve said before, another one could of been, Elmo with Cash further forward . Haden is a good shout, got an eye for goal lately as well . Traore certainly hasn’t been showing much form lately, would love to see the kids involved. Both Barry and Chuka, play with a freedom and energy of youth, can’t see either of them being fazed, if they are involved.

If he is as good as they say then pay the asking price. Top class players don't come as cheap as this nowadays.

They should pay the asking price Odessa, the same player would have cost 30 million euros a year ago. It seems to me they’re quibbling over 2 or 3 million, and he’s an absolute bargain for what Marseille are now willing to accept. It won’t look good for Lange if another club comes in willing to pay what Marseille are asking, and he’s taken from under their noses.

2.) 23 Jan 2021 11:38:57
Just seen on Sky Sports that a fee has been agreed, 14 million, rising to 15.5 million with add ons.
He’s an absolute gem, for a bargain price. 👏👏👏.

3.) 23 Jan 2021 12:37:39
Brilliant news, and has to be a steal at that price.
Welcome to B6 Morgan Sanson.

4.) 23 Jan 2021 13:12:57
Well done whoever negotiated this, and thank you. Best deal possible for Villa and saved ourselves a few million by not being reckless and impatient.

Can’t wait to see Sanson in action! But as someone else has posted, since Bryan, I want to see him in the middle of villa park with a shirt😂 just being “at the belfry” isn’t enough anymore!

The difference between the two is Ang is an experienced manager who has been successful for many years now in a number of countries and conditions. Stevie G was just the opposite and wasn't able to turn things around when it got tough. I believe Ang has a very good chance of doing well.
