Spoke to my Chelsea mates yesterday who were absolutely loving the fact they had landed Rogers. A couple of rumours linking us with a couple of their players. I assumed it was Jackson and Garnacho; however, whilst we are interested in Garnacho, we won’t be pursuing Jackson because we won’t pay north of £60 million which is the fee Chelsea are looking for. Re: Garnacho apparently we are pushing hard to land him and have offered him more money than he is on at Chelsea, but he is keeping his options open as he would rather play in Spain/Italy.

The other player we are allegedly interested in is Trevoh Chalobah and my mates think this is a more likely deal as the fee is circa £30 million. I think we have been linked with Chalobah before. I wonder if this is insurance if either Mings or Konsa is sold. It will be interesting to see if they are as right on this one. With regards Garnacho, I sincerely hope not!!

I find it hard to believe we would sell either Konsa or Watkins after making the sales we have. I think, after Roger's big fee, we will only sell if it's players Emery wants to move. It wouldn't make sense gutting the team any more than we need to.
The Garnacho story doesn't make much sense either, overpaying a player with a bad attitude that doesn't want to go to Villa, who hasn't been great anywhere he's been, while player wages are our biggest pain point? To me it feels like a huge mistake, just like some of the decisions made by Monchi that got him sacked.

Chelsea have overspent, I reckon, they will be desperate to move some wages off their books. Now is the time to pull their pants down and not blow big chunks of our profit on below average players who haven't cut it anywhere they went.
Garnacho, Jackson, Chalobah, I have to say I'd be disgusted if we sign any of them and it'll take the shine off the good business we have already done.

Re Garnacho, I think he is a talented player, but as you say his attitude is poor. Emery must believe he can change that side of him if he is pushing for him, but like you, I'd be disappointed if we sign him, as better options are available to us than Garnacho.
Emery has worked with Jackson before, and we have been linked consistently with him for the past 3 windows, so he obviously rates him. But if the fee is as being suggested I'd rather go for someone like Balogun, who would be cheaper. For me, I wouldn't be too disappointed with Chalobah.

He would be decent cover if Mings goes, and at £30 million for an England international the price isn't too shabby either in the current market.

Re Chelsea's financial position, certainly my friends aren't at all concerned. They have already banked circa £60 million for Cucurella. They have been in the same position re Enzo Fernandez as we have with Rogers. He is apparently going to Real Madrid for a fee larger than Rogers, so that, with other departures, they will be fine allegedly.

To me it's just lazy journalism. They need to sell players, we need to buy players, all guess work. Where were all these in the know internet sites when we were in talks for Manzambi and Gomes? Nobody knew a thing until we had our offers accepted. We are linked with a lot of the same players every window, but we never buy any of them or even bid on them. Gabriel Sara is another one guaranteed every window. Romano said Emery wasn't interested in Jackson. Emery was asked about Jackson one day before we played Chelsea, as in, did he fear him? How was he going to stop him, knowing how he plays from your past working together? Emery, like any other manager, gave the politically correct answer about how he was a top player and professional.

What else is Emery going to say? You can't say "no he's rubbish we're not worried about him at all."
Did you see anything about Mingueza? I'm surprised we're not all over him. We need a rb and I'm fairly sure I seen somewhere he's a free agent? Maybe just speculation. I think we will most likely be surprised by the players we end up buying. I'd imagine it will be full steam ahead with our business as soon as Rogers signs his deal.

Fairly sure Mingueza signed for Palace already, but agree thought he'd have been ideal for us.

Looks like my Chelsea mates might be right again re Garnacho. ?
