I see after the match Emery was asked about the Real Madrid links, he could have killed the rumours stone dead there and then but didn't, which says to me that he will at the very least be willing to listen to what Madrid have to say.
Given that's his position I hope we are drawing up a list of potential candidates to replace him should he decide to leave the club.

LOTM, I'm on the same page mate, in life how often does the dream job come up, everyone in every walk of life would be foolish not to consider. Obviously many are happy where they are, however if a job is higher paid, the family are keen and it's miles and miles closer to home, with the same language then to most of us it would be an absolute no brainer.
So our owners being the top class business men they are, they will have anticipated with Emery's success that he will be tempted by the best. I and most would hope that Emery wants to carry on with the project, however PSR has obviously irked him and restricted the growth of our team competing with the elite.

The only thing which may work in our favour is with us he has complete autonomy in footballing matters he won’t get that at Madrid. The other thing is that by all accounts player power was one of the main reasons Alonso lost his job the Galacticos had no respect for the manager and openly defied him, I’m not sure even if Madrid was my dream job I would want to walk into that environment unless I was given assurances I could get rid of the troublemakers without board interference again would Madrids board sign up to that, not sure.

The dream job ain’t much good if you only get 6 months in it. I think he’s smarter than that, I think he’d look at that squad and see nothing but trouble

Agree Whack, however home may be calling, his financial package would cover an early exit and he would find another top job the next day, so I would imagine him and his family will definitely consider an offer if it was forthcoming and hopefully after this careful consideration he is happy to continue his successful project at Aston Villa??

It’s hard to call I guess, it could end up bitter/sweet, he could win a trophy this season and see it as job done and move on. he could win a trophy and see it as the start of something special and stay, he could win nothing and leave out of frustration?♂️
Hopefully Madrid win the champions league and they give Arbeloa the job ?

Here’s hoping Emery stays but the board need to be considering options should the worst happen.
