Guess the apparent lack of signings by us so far has been due to the uncertainty around Abraham. See what Deano can conjure in the next 2 - 3 weeks.
Oh well, onwards and upw. Mmmm, not sure upwards is realistic at the moment.

Perfect result today. Pleased for Deano. He should be pleased with the game overall. Performance was 7/10 which is an improvement. McGinn! What can you say? Brilliant performance. 9/10.
Atmosphere was ok. 6/10. I guess we're still carrying a bit of the Bruce era around with us.

Good result yesterday from what I saw in the highlights. I'm not going to trust Smith 100 % quite yet. But he seems to be the right man for Villa in ages and if he continues firing up the squad, then there is hope for us.
By the way, he presented the right tactics and formations. Up the Villa!

No, Villadave. The only reason that I didn't trust him completely was that he has managed one win at home against Swansea so far. I mean, that not hard to accomplish. I'm not being negative, I'm just being realistic. I do want Smith to succeed, of course. And if he manages to create more victories and qualify Aston Villa to the Premier League, then we must definitely keep him. For the rest of his career! Several managers who have come in since Martin O'Neill left have not been successful. I just don't want to see that again with Smith, that's all.

Reports that Grealish in talks over new/ extended contract. I'm guessing this new contract would include a 'valuation' clause if we don't get promoted to allow him to go next summer.
That's the only way he'll sign a new contract surely?

Reports in Scotland suggesting we're interested in John McGinn and he's heading south for talks. Probably means Jack Grealish is on his way out, hope not but if he is let's get it done sooner rather than later and move on.

Would be a good addition. Just hope we can get this deal done before other clubs start circling. Looking more and more likely Grealish will be gone. At least it will fund some activity from our side.

Message for Mr Dean Smith: This Valentine's week, the romance is over. It just didn't workout. Once the reality kicked in it showed you and Villa were not meant to be.
Hopefully you will just walk and if you really do care about Villa we won't have a protracted and expensive divorce. It's best for all now. Time to move on.

He had a chance to change things in January. Look what happened! January is not the best time to recruit that is true but can't complain about squad If you've had chance to change things and haven't.
That said I hop, and it is a hope, that the reason we didn't change things in Jan is 'cos Smith and the owners want to wait 'till the summer for major surgery.
Anyway, one things for sure, we'll get playing championship football next season.

We've tried to do a quick fix to get promoted and it's failed twice. k It is time for 2 - 3 year plan. No short term fixes. Start the rebuild in the summer.
You're right about Jack and Tammy. Need to plan without them.
This is a worst season yet in the Championship and it could get worse.
Sorry to be a doom monger but this us as bad as it's been for almost 50 years.
We'll be back but it will be a long struggle over many years.

Where do we go from here? Stick with Smith and Co. Or make a change now.
Personally I'd stick with him. Another change now will not get us into playoffs, that's gone now.
Give him and the owners the summer to completely re-build (and it will take a massive re-build) .
But we must be in the top 6 after 6 games otherwise we're playing catch up again and we will fall short again.

Totally undeserved but doesn't matter tonight. Never give up. Never give in. There's always hope.
