I spotted a few things yesterday and so will Bruce have. Ayew is our best creative spark and we missed him yesterday. he worries other midfielders and defenders and creates space for us. We lacked pace in the middle of the park and as a result Wolves dominated with quick bursts of speed, they identified that as our weak spot before the game and took advantage perfectly. Jednaik looks like his legs have gone and Tishbola is slow when he gets the ball. Needs to be looked at as does our wobbly defence. Elphick out Baker in and bin Richards he's like a headless Chicken gone mad.

1.) 16 Oct 2016 13:28:02
i reckon he was going to bring ayew on with about 30 to go but typical villa we just got injury after injury,

2.) 16 Oct 2016 15:31:54
Yeh I agree with that strikes, I thought exactly the same mate.
I know we were poor but I think that could of changed the game.

3.) 16 Oct 2016 16:46:50
If Ayew had played maybe different result.

4.) 16 Oct 2016 22:38:57
Definitely would have been a different story. Ayew breaks things up and frightens the life out of defenders! Worrying thing is that he is the only player we have who can do it. Ideally we need 3 x Ayew.

5.) 17 Oct 2016 10:00:07
Ayew was on international duty, so he was still on a jetlag according to what I read. Besides, if he played on Saturday, I don't believe that it would have made much difference.

6.) 17 Oct 2016 12:27:50
Maybe Ayew would have held the ball up, brought in other players.

7.) 18 Oct 2016 15:37:02
gggood.

8.) 18 Oct 2016 15:45:11
good player ayew very mobile has anyone checked yedineks birth certificate he'd be too slow for waliking football.

9.) 19 Oct 2016 23:04:15
Hnch85 I was there v Wolves mate everyone was saying Ayew would have made a difference. Sometimes it's players with individual qualities like him who make things happen. Last night is clear evidence of that, he made the penalty then scored under pressure! Quality.

Steve Bruce will be announced new Villa Boss After Wolves game most probably Monday. It's the worst kept secret in football at the moment!

Devlins

1.) 06 Oct 2016 11:25:58
So you're saying that Bruce will be announced on Monday 17th October?
I'd have thought it would be much sooner than that.

2.) 06 Oct 2016 16:33:25
Well my mistake there "oops" after this weekend on Monday!

3.) 06 Oct 2016 17:16:34
I have a nasty feelin that if we beat wolves Clarke will get the job, they don't seem in any rush to start interviewing for a new manager an it's widely reported that the players an directors get on well with him and have been impressed with his coaching

I'd find the appointment a little underwhelming if I'm honest.

4.) 06 Oct 2016 23:28:37
Could be worse aruston, someone told me if all else fails, a certain manager at ipswich could be in with a shout.

5.) 07 Oct 2016 14:13:37
I'd prefer Mad Mick to Steve Barnes. I mean Steve Bruce.

6.) 08 Oct 2016 10:21:56
I hear one of the reasons Bruce resigned from Hull is because he was sounded out about Villa! " get yourself ready because if RDM doesn't get it right in a short spell he will be gone! Rubbish? Well it seems like a coinsidence and saves the Doc millions on compensation.

02 Oct 2016 12:53:18
Roberto Di Matteo sacked by Villa! Official announcement on Monday. Steve Bruce is the man no ex Blue or not he has the experience.

03 Sep 2016 09:41:46
It is an open rumour at Villa training ground "via someone i know" that Dr Xia will go back to sign Hernandez in January with improved personal terms depending how he performs between now and then. He wanted to come but the two parties couldn't agree his personal terms. Quite a good move by the doc because he and RDM will get a window to see if he really is worth his massive wage demands, albeit they might face stiff competition if he performs well. It seems Dr Xia doesn't like to lose which is a great sign.

Devlins

1.) 03 Sep 2016 13:34:04
I hope he signd us 2 more experienced defenders as well, i reckon that's the area where it'll be most important in such a long season.

2.) 03 Sep 2016 17:28:57
What's the point in having ayew, McCormack, Gustede, kodija, kozak and then Hernandez? Unless we sell someone, we won't buy him, they might try loan a few so that were not sure during AFCON.

3.) 04 Sep 2016 00:11:51
the 1st rumour is bull this is the team that will take us to the premiership mayb1 in jan but really we spent the most in the league we should go up rdm drew up a list an dr. tony got every1 he wanted! fail and he should be fired 56 million is a lot of money i expect us to go up no excuses brighton derby leeds havnt spent that cash NO EXCUSES! we made this league 4 everybody we have better players than any1 else including newcastle fail is no option!

4.) 04 Sep 2016 00:11:51

5.) 04 Sep 2016 01:24:27
Guys and in particular Chris i'm suprised you don't know that only Mcormack won't be required on African international duty in January so we lose the rest, the very reason Dr Xia said in the national press that he has a plán for January to cover those potential losses " check reports guys" the rumour isn't rubbish mr know it all, if you think about the facts it makes perfect sense " and i beleive it will happen.

6.) 04 Sep 2016 01:25:01
You chaps make me smile!

7.) 04 Sep 2016 01:27:42
You could be right on the loan front chris.

8.) 04 Sep 2016 08:30:39
I agree mate!
I think it's a massive failure to the good doctor if we don't come straight back, and if he needs to spend, and spend big, in January he will.
Not so sure re this rumour, but I'll take you at your word mate, but certainly feel there is a contingency plan set aside for investment again in the next window!

You only have to look at the maths, spend another say £30m, that's close to £90m in transfer. Back to prem next year I'm sore is £180m (sure ed will correct or confirm) . It's a no brainer.
And sorry mr know it all. The fact we spend the most so far doesn't mean sod all! Ask Leeds, and ask Portsmouth if this guarantees anything. It's about constantly assessing, and reassessing to adapt and being strong enough to say that needs to change, ideally, you would be right and this team 'should' be enough to at the leat get us up. But as the coach, manager and owner, I pray they are always asking themselves and each other, what if!? .

This is a very hard league, a very long league and we have only played 1/ 2 a dozen games! Strap your selves in! It's going to be emotional!

9.) 04 Sep 2016 09:28:38
What makes you think I didn't know know we will lose them when I said "get loans so we're not short during AFCON". Kodija is not gone after they qualified last night, ayew and adomah are yet to qualify but if they do both of them are gone and Gustede the same hasn't yet qualified, but realistically we could be 4 first team players down from 14th of Jan onwards, that's gives us 14 days to get some loans in. I'm guessing he'll be looking at proven championship players who aren't doing great in the prem, I. E. someone like Callum Wilson, out all year last year and if he isn't firing by Jan but Bournemouth are comfortable they'll be looking to loan him out to get his confidence back (not saying specifically him but that sort of scenario), that or a player from teams Comfortable in the prem who need games; Peter Crouch, Jay Rodriguez etc.

12 Aug 2016 13:52:45
Villa have Just signed James Chester for £10 million!

Devlins

1.) 12 Aug 2016 15:45:09
Man, that's pricey!
Good player, proper rated by baggies fans, but about 3-4 mill over the odds IMO.
Saying that, glad he's coming.

2.) 12 Aug 2016 19:02:47
I heard it was £6m rising to £8m that makes more sense. Looking forward to a few more ins and outs. UTV.

There is a problem handling pressure at Aston Villa at the moment. When the players walk out to the pitch the pressure is on because everyone wants to beat us.

Forest acted like they'd won the European cup on Sunday and it's like it with every team Villa face. Even in the pubs watching the game " if it's an away game" our fans feel it.

At the pub I was in grown men were dancing and kissing when Forest scored the winner. Other Midlands football fans hate Aston Villa with a passion born from jealousy and it's truly laughable to see.

We need to pull together on and off the pitch with a volley of confidence that will reverberate around the country never mind he Midlands.

Steve Bruce you need a passionate Villa man in the dressing room to give the players an injection of, 'Villa til I die!'.

Devlins

1.) 06 Feb 2017 16:23:55
I propose walkthewalk.

2.) 06 Feb 2017 16:57:18
Devlin, Bruce is supposed to have two passionate players in Gabby and Grealish, its not working. You use the word jealousy, surely you mean envious (Envy is a reaction to lacking something) I hate the word jealousy its poisonous mate.

Surely Newcastle also have the same pressure, everybody wants to beat them as well, other midlands side hate us off coarse they do that’s called rivalry, you hate Birmingham don’t you.

Let's be honest a lot of football fans dislike us because we are always moaning, some villans think we have some sort of divine right to be at the top.
Did we not have pressure in 80/ 81, yes we did it comes with success, but we handled it and handled it well.
If players think they are under pressure, don’t sign for Villa.

3.) 06 Feb 2017 16:59:08
Lol thanx mate, I love the Villa and sometimes I am too passionate but its because I care. We are losing a lot lately and I believe we should be doing much better. The thing that's gets to me is we have no style of play under Bruce nobody knows how we want to play not even bruce. Next few games are easy so let's hope we can get some points on the board. UTV.

4.) 06 Feb 2017 18:52:48
Walkthewalk, i'm probably wrong but i think bruce didn't have a favourite system because we didn't have the players for the system he wanted to play, now i think he has the players we may be pleasantly surprised, he'll need a few games for the players to click but i think good things may be round the corner, keep the faith guvnor, you'll be naming your next kid after him! lol!

5.) 06 Feb 2017 20:28:43
Haha I hope your right mate we all just want our team to win. I think we have 1 hell of a team a good chairman so now its up2 the manager to make it win. I prob take it far to serious but it ruins my week when we lose! I really like the Huddersfield manager style his a man with a plan hopfully Bruce gives us somethink we can be proud of but i think his to old fashioned hope Iam wrong!

6.) 06 Feb 2017 20:42:10
Think the team we saw Saturday should stick, maybe swapping the Icelandic for Taylor or Amavi.

7.) 06 Feb 2017 20:52:08
Way off the mark Villa dave
jelousy is a poisonous word indeed and so we're the reactions I saw to Villa going behind " bear in mind I see it all the time" so I don't quite get your little point there! Other midland fans hate Aston Villa because we are the biggest most historic football cl.

8.) 06 Feb 2017 20:55:40
Oops - we are the biggest most historich football club in the west midlands! Next your gong to tell me I'm wrong!? Lol
I certainly do not hate Birmingham by the way and would never jump for joy when they lose. Next Dave?

10 Oct 2016 22:43:11
So guys it looks like it's Bruce. Does anyone
want to predict where we might finish now?
I feel quite positive about this Bruces record excites me and I like his enthusiasm for the game at every club he manages. I'm going for a top five finish and play offs.

Devlins

1.) 11 Oct 2016 07:27:30
4th and a playoff win as I think he will sort a style of play out for the side and stick to it and the good doctor will back him in January as well with 2 or 3 players.

2.) 11 Oct 2016 14:15:41
Very difficult to predict but if Brucey can get the Landcrab Westwood to run forwards and feed a pass through to the attackers, things may begin to look up.
Whatever happens tho, we'll be there home and away to roar our boys on. ⚽👍👍👍.

3.) 11 Oct 2016 15:12:49
I will be there v Wolves upper Doug Ellis halfway line if anyone fancies some face to face Villa Banter. I'm being positive so it.

4.) 11 Oct 2016 15:14:35
Oops what happened then! I predict Villa 2 Wolves 0, Mcormack, Ayew if he plays.

09 Oct 2016 23:21:53
Would anyone like to predict the Steve Bruce line up. I think he will bring in Baker at the back and replace Jednaik with Gardner for more pace partnering Tishbola who is very much a Bruce type player. I also think he will use Ayew as a roaming creative link behind the strikers which isn't new really but I think he will be given more freedom to move around the pitch swapping and changing with Grealish. I expect Kodjia to feature up front because Bruce likes an athletic front man.

Devlins

1.) 10 Oct 2016 08:54:47
Kodja definitely because he is similar to Hernandez, wouldn't surprise me if he played kodja and gustede up top. Amavi could play as Bruce always played Robertson at hull the wing back. wouldn't surprise me if he goes for a back 3 aswell.

2.) 10 Oct 2016 12:39:33
I hope he goes with a back 3 with Baker in. Baker puts his body on the line and will help see out games.

3.) 10 Oct 2016 13:58:00
I hope Baker gets a run as well, but in a back 4 not 3. We have so many strikers so i'd like to see more than 1 play in position, and we can hardly take people out of midfield. 4-4-2 for me Rudy and Kodjia up front or maybe McCormack with Kodjia on the wing.

4.) 10 Oct 2016 16:47:23
I think our biggest issue this year is trying to crowbar in Kodjia, McCormack, Ayew, Grealish into the same 11 at the expense of the team - Some of those players will have to settle for a place on the bench if we are to progress.

Would any of you consider recalling some of our loanees? I think RDM left us very lightweight in MF so I hope Bruce considers recalling Sanchez and Vertout - Highly unlikely I know.

My 11 would be the following if that is possible.

Gollini
Richards, Elphick, Chester, Amavi
Sanchez, Vertout, Tshibola
Ayew, Kodjia, Grealish.

5.) 10 Oct 2016 16:56:48
I think the loan system changed now, so you can't end them early. But I might be wtong!

I like your team, except I wouldn't ever want to see Richards in a villa too again.

6.) 10 Oct 2016 17:01:09
grellish for me is a no go too.

7.) 10 Oct 2016 17:28:48
*wrong
*top!

(Read post before pressing send! )

8.) 10 Oct 2016 19:37:27
Don't like that line up BK, McCormack has to play, he has probably the best football brain and awareness in our squad.

9.) 10 Oct 2016 22:19:47
Sorry BK I don't like that line up either and I'm amazed you do! Richards and Sanchez? Two very poor players for us last term Richards in particular is like a headless chicken! Bacuna in for Richards, Baker in for Elphk, then you have a team. Gardner wouldn't be my first choice but he's a more realistic choice than Vertout. I was at Villa park v Forest and have to say the football was thrilling, the i l.

10.) 10 Oct 2016 22:25:20
Oops - if we'd had Tishbola in the midfield v Forest it would have been spot on. The puzzling thing is that RDM didn't use that system again, he changed things v Newcastle and only in the second half did he realise he needed to g revert back by which time we were chasing the game. He got himself sacked in that game I think.

11.) 11 Oct 2016 08:02:01
Hi Lads, just to clarify, I wouldn't say I love the team I suggested but for me its probably the strongest we could put out.

Jedinak looks like a 50 year old trying to play football at the moment, I'm praying that is because of the RDMs system and that he will look better in a MF 3 - Sanchez, while he infuriates me to no end is a better option in that holding role.

Take your point on Grealish and McCormack - Totally agree McCormack is without doubt our most intelligent footballer but would you also agree that trying to crowbar all these players into the 11 has been one of our biggest issues this season? I would play Ayew and Grealish because we would get some width and I think Kodjia HAS to play as if we do go up the team he will have a bigger part to play than McCormack.

Also, Richards, Bacuna, Hutton. They all terrify me at right back lads. Its a case of picking the lessor evil for me and I still hold out hope that the Richards we seen at City is still in there, somewhere :-)

12.) 11 Oct 2016 11:09:52
He burnt all bridges for me, the only one of those three that deserves right back is Hutton.
I can see bacuna at the right of a midfield, but he is not a right back as long as he has a hole in his arse.

13.) 11 Oct 2016 15:17:28
Sorry BK I just don't buy into this Richards at right back or anywhere thing! He was at a very good Cit.

14.) 11 Oct 2016 15:19:23
Oops happened again! He was in a good city team so he looked good, however I'm a poor team he got exposed and he is poor no doubt about that. A good player will shine even I a poor team. Forget him it won.

15.) 11 Oct 2016 22:45:20
Sanchez is a very poor choice in the holding role BK. He constantly gives the ball away and is always off the pace! I wouldn't want Richards in a local pub team that's how bad he is! Didn't you watch them last season? I agree about Jednaik though.

16.) 12 Oct 2016 00:13:38
Gollini
Bacuna. Baker. Chester. Amavi

Adomah. Tshibola. Grealish. Ayew

MacCormack. Kodjia

This would do nicely me thinks. Thoughts anyone?

27 Sep 2016 22:05:19
Not good enough tonight and I don't care what anyone says it's time for th whole coaching set up and he manager to look at themselves and ask are we good enough for this club! To be honest after tonight I don't think they are and it's quite shocking! Yet another late goal is bad management and just poor motivational skills. The message should be loud and clear " get it right or ship out! Stunningly poor tonight.

Yet another late goal at Barnsley and now Questions must be asked! I was at the Newcastle game when for me Tommy E was slow and looked off the pace, I'm not at all convinced by him and Chester they seem crumble under any sort of pressure To give away yet another lead tonight is shocking and just not good enough, I don't care what anyone says we shoul.
