Villa4eva totally agree “for once lol” it really annoys me not just football but all walks of life it does not matter who you are or where you have come from if you have the talent that correct attitude and commitment and a never give in attitude even when you get knocked down you’ll succeed.
As for Dwight Yorke who does he think he is, I can’t speak for other Villa fans but I can’t stand the bloke, when he left us for Man Utd I understood why he wanted to go but my issue is the way he went and what he said when the deal was finally pushed through, he showed the club and fans that had made him what he was total disrespect and to top it if he loved Villa so much why did he go and play for the blues.
Dwight Yorke is not a Villa legend and any affiliation he had with the club and fans he destroyed for the reasons above.

Villa4ever make your mind up you wanted Brendon Rodgers yesterday now it’s Martinez and before that it was Henry who will you want tomorrow coco the clown.
I’m just glad you’re not in the decision making as your always posting absolute nonsense all the time and supporters who may post on here aren’t going to because it’s a circus.
You are to this forum what Diane Abbot is to economics and mathematics lol.

I agree he would spend more time on the treatment table.
A player I would go for and really rate is Jared Bowen at Hull definitely talented and has loads of potential.

Diamo1 apart from the pee taking your bang on the money and absolutely agree with all your points the club is rotten to the core and it’s needs a complete restructuring with a vision a philosophy and the whole team at Villa Park buying into the vision from the tea ladies right up to the owners.
As for wolves enjoy it while it lasts as you and I know football moves in cycles and Villa will be back bigger better stronger.
You referred to 1982 oh yes gone but not forgotten but at least we have that and as poor as we have been since then we are still England’s 5th most successful football club.

There is something terribly wrong at Villa Park it is rotten to the core we spend money we bring good players in who then become shadows of what they were at their previous clubs we get collective inadequate performances from the team no passion no bottle no will to win no drive no determination no distinctive playing style no philosophy we change managers and the same we change owners and the same.
I said at the time and I’ll say it again Dean Smith should never have been appointed manager of Aston Villa the job is to big for him and he is clearly out of his depth which is a shame because he is one of our own and I genuinely like him plus his contract is fairly short so the board must have had their doubts.

We took him due to his record at Brentford which was not brilliant with a very average win ratio, we took him because of the style of football Brentford play.

The Brentford way and style was not down to Dean Smith he has left Brentford and they are still playing good attacking effective football because in the background there is a structure throughout that football club and a clear philosophy which all at the club buy into which Dean Smith came into hence why he was successful if you can call finishing mid table successful.
Brentford did well under Mark Warburton and they would have done well under any other decent coach if Dean Smith had not gone there.

The current situation we find ourselves in is not down to Dean Smith the club he finds himself at has massive internal problems there is no philosophy no structure no clear vision where everyone has bought into to build the foundations of success we are on a merry go round of players managers owners continuously changing.
Hopefully the new CEO and the director of football have a long term vision and strategy to address my above points.

Aston Villa in my opinion need a big name to manage it someone who has been there and done it, if the owners are as wealthy as we think they are then identity that man pay him what he wants get him in at the final whistle of the season and start there clearing out the absolute rubbish we have then give him what he wants to get us out of the championship and before I get slated look at Leeds Utd that’s exactly what they are doing Marcelo Bielsa the night paid manager in their history and wolves did exactly the same last season.
Another point you build a team from the back that is where we need to start stop conceding goals I’m not interested in entertaining football I’m only interesting in winning football.

Firstly I am no fan of Doug Ellis but I will not disrespect the passing of him or his life achievements.
My opinion Doug Ellis was no friend of Aston Villa or how he has been portrayed in today’s press as Mr Aston Villa.

Doug Ellis was not Mr Aston Villa he was only interested in one thing “Money” he never put a single penny of his own money into Villa but he took a substantial amount out paying himself a fortune in annual salary over the decades to run the club and be chairman, and when he sold Villa he made another huge amount off the back of the club, I somehow could not see him selling the club like sir Jack Hayward sold Wolves for £1.00.

He kept Villa in a position of mediocrity so that it would make money but he would never push for us to challenge when we did that really was down to the brilliance of Graham Taylor and Ron Atkinson who helped us to challenge for the league title in 1990 and 1993 for a short time on relatively nothing in comparison to other clubs.
Ellis used Villa to support his ego and selfish vanity he even named a stand after himself if Ellis had got his way Ron Saunders would have been sacked! It’s ironic that our greatest and most successful modern time period came after Ellis had himself been sacked from the board.

When Ellis came back in 1982 his first task was to destroy the once champions of Europe out of pure spite and jealousy he banned any talk and any reminder of that great period he also banned Villa’s Captain Leader and Legend Dennis Mortimer for speaking out against him.

He dismantled what had been built sacked the late great Tony Barton and a few years later Villa were relegated.
Of course Ellis wanted success for Villa but he wanted to do it on the cheap cheap as we all know can’t be done if you want it sustained.
My late father was from Birkenhead and a Liverpool supporter I remember him telling me as a young teenager you’ll never win anything or do anything while Doug Ellis is at the helm of Villa how right you were dad.

2 league cup wins in all that time for a club the size of Aston Villa is not really allot to shout about.
So I have to agree with Villa wizard Ellis was not mr Aston Villa he was Mr Greedy and mr Mediocrity.
