We are being linked with Alessandro Diamante who is currently playing for Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande. Apparently he wants to play in Europe again.

Don't see this happening at all. For a start the link is in the Metro which got it from Gazetto de la Sport.

24 Jul 2015 00:39:20
Anderlecht are reported to have said that they are prepared to sell Praet for 10 million. Should we go in or him?

AndyVilla

1.) 24 Jul 2015 07:15:15
Yes he is a quality prospect

2.) 24 Jul 2015 10:10:17
I'd love us to snap him up! Can't see him being anything other than a quality signing with decent sell on value.

11 Jul 2015 16:27:29
With reports saying Delph is staying now is it likely to be still the case that he will have the 8 mil buyout clause - or would it be a dynamic thing and increase if he chooses not to leave is season?

AndyVilla

1.) 11 Jul 2015 17:03:49
Wouldn't surprise me if he's offered fresh terms woth the buy out either removed or increased

2.) 11 Jul 2015 17:14:09
And a further pay rise no doubt - glad he is staying though.

3.) 11 Jul 2015 17:23:27
Happy days eat our words boys he is loyal!! great professional if he stays

4.) 11 Jul 2015 17:35:44
Was proper gutted last nite and this morning, and I'm actually buzzing and over the moon now, really hope benteke follows suit and the rumours of townsend are true

5.) 11 Jul 2015 18:45:03
Great news again feeds into new owner due soon where wages, new players and optimism will be a reality. Must have been part of negotiations whilst staying behind from Portugal!!

6.) 11 Jul 2015 20:51:53
He stayed behind because his wife is expecting. Glad he staying.

7.) 11 Jul 2015 21:30:11
Again I don't want to sound a killjoy but he is not loyal - he considered going to City. We heard the rumours that he spoke to Micah Richards and from what I heard he wanted a low buyout clause at City as an escape route - probably from the advice Richards gave him. They wouldn't play ball so he didn't sign for them.

8.) 12 Jul 2015 20:30:19
I have to agree. He was off, failed the medical and is now staying.

To be fair though, he did sign a new contract in Jan with a buy out clause would have given us £8m instead of nothing had he let the contract run down. So I think he gets credit for that.

I don't think anyone can really expect a player to turn down a massive pay rise, even if it means bench time.

This is something to put behind us all now and look forward to next month.

A final note. This tale, and others like it, should make players wary of the actions they take on the road to a new club. Can you image the situation for Sterling should his move to Man C also fall through. By comparison, the actions by FD are positively upfront and honest.

29 Jun 2015 03:38:39
Ron Vlaar has reportedly put contract talks on hold with us to spend the summer working with disadvantaged children in India. Probably something to do with the takeover - I could see him wanting to wait and negotiate a new contract with the new owners in place once he has a clear vision of the direction the club is taking. If this is the case I don't blame him really, but if he leaves its not too big of a loss.

AndyVilla

1.) 29 Jun 2015 08:58:48
Its a Dutch Charity he's doing it for, so doubt its something to do with take over

2.) 29 Jun 2015 12:11:20
high guys I have written a few times I,m carbisbay just love the place well don,t you feel like me f-----g fed up reading how we are considering, thinking, offering stupid amts wasting valuble time then loosing our targets as we are so slow then other clubs sneek in and we loose out.we need to get these better players and stop f-----g about eg stoke keeper would most probably have been ours but for a childish offer letting chelski in that's not the only case so ts and yiou other so called directors of football grow up stop waisting our time either you want to start growing stronger or shall we fight once again for our lives my suggestion is sack the idiots and get Liverpool,s team responsible for new ins or do our lot seem worried about flying and buying they don,t let the grass grow do they identify and get em in carbisbay.

3.) 29 Jun 2015 13:56:40
Carbisbay, To be honest mate I think more than half of the rumours and paper talk we are reading in the press at the moment is all rubbish anyway, papers have to fill spaces and sell papers hence the garbage.
The problem is we (Villa) have made a lot of big mistakes in the transfer market purchasing and selling players over the past decade, and the club do not want to be making the same mistakes again so I am sure they are going to be more careful and vigilant in their pursuit of players in future.
I have no doubt we will be making signings, maybe even as many as six for different positions all over the pitch, but I think a lot of this is all depending on Benteke`s stance.
More often than not the transfer market will go crazy when a couple of big money moves happen, and I think this is a very good example of stalemate at the moment.
We will be fine, and expect some very good unknowns to arrive, Think double dutch !!

4.) 29 Jun 2015 14:03:47
Ruggers - I didn't mean he's doing charity work in India because the new owners are Indians or anything, my post isn't that clear. What I meant was he's using the fact that he is doing this charity project as a reason why he's delaying his contract talks, because he wants to discuss terms once the new owners are in place.

Hope that's a little clearer.

5.) 29 Jun 2015 16:07:51
Carbisbay - would you rather Sherwood make lower offers for quality players like Begovic which will more than likely be turned down but you never know. OR would you rather he spend the funds he is raising from player sales (he clearly hasn't been sanctioned anything by the board yet.) on similar lower quality replacements?

I think Sherwood is doing a brilliant job this window. We have effectively traded Darren Bent for Micah Richards :) and the rumours circling are for a higher calibre of player than what we have sold.

He has got Ray Wilkins in as Assistant and Kevin MacDonald back working with the youth. Really what else can the man do to please you?

6.) 29 Jun 2015 16:42:32
I agree, Andy. Good name btw ;) From one Andy to another.

I personally think Sherwood is doing the best he can with all that he has available to him. I was discussing with a friend this weekend, this possible begovic deal and we both came to the possible conclusion that we weren't really THAT interested in him, but we purposely but our names in the hate with a low bid to give Guzan a kick up the arse?
Who knows, certainly haven't been linked to usual has-beens and never heard ofs from the lower leagues, but I agree that most of what has been linked it probably total rubbish, engineered to sell papers and online blogs hit counters.

The other thing I cannot seem to get my head around, is this supposed Delph clause, if it was in there since Jan, why only mention it now? And even if it has ONLY just been found out. I think if it was factual, one of Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool would have met the release clause days ago. Delph for 10m is an absolute steal in the current market.
I also think that if all the above does turn out to be true, that Delph himself would really get hated after his "like brothers" comments and the praise he received countrywide for his loyalty.
Then again I don't think stuff like that actually matters in football does it?
I mean if you wanted to bring up a contradiction or lie that was told in football, you could make a living just off Harry Redknapp alone.

7.) 29 Jun 2015 20:22:59
I mean really apart from the odd deal here and there and Brendan Rodgers buying literally everyone he possibly can, most of the clubs in the league especially the teams around us have done very little business either. So its nothing to be concerned about at this stage.

I agree with the Delph's clause bit fplmorg. I can't see it being that low. To me it sounds like a release clause put in so that he can leave on the cheap IF we are relegated, and the media have got it a bit wrong with the way they are reporting it.

23 Jun 2015 14:21:28
I'm sure some of you have seen an article going around suggesting that Gabby Agbonlahor is too comfortable at the club and it would benefit both if they parted ways. So should we sell him?

AndyVilla

1.) 23 Jun 2015 14:56:25
No, we shouldn't.
We should pay someone to take him

2.) 23 Jun 2015 16:22:22
think he is a player who we miss when he isn't in the team yes he isn't the best finisher but hit a ball into a channel and let him chase it down see how he does with sherwood for 6 months

3.) 23 Jun 2015 17:20:46
Don't really know why I have an unbelievable - its a Matt Kendrick article from the Birmingham Mail if anyone is interested. Personally I would keep him and use him sparingly (impact sub, cup games etc.) and get his wages down next time it comes up. If he has to take a pay cut to stay at Villa then we will really see how loyal he is.

4.) 23 Jun 2015 17:36:32
I think we stand by him as he is villa through and through.
But look at it with your head and not a sentimental heart.
Other than one dimensional football, long ball and hope his pace beats everyone, what does he offer??
Can't finish.
Can't cross.
Can't pass more than ten yards.
Can't tackle.

I agree he gives us 100% of what he has. But, and this is the painful part, what he has is not very good.
Personally he would struggle to get in a championship side.
We deserve better.

5.) 23 Jun 2015 18:02:00
I think Matt Kendrick is spot on, I have let my feelings known many times on this site about Agbonlahor and they have not changed.
I think if he warms the bench for a few weeks he might realise that just because he supports Villa and that he has been there since school he has no devine right to be in the side.
Let`s be honest here, he has been very reliant on his pace in the past, he has very little technical ability, on top of that he is not getting any younger, so he is going to slow up big time.
Most of his performances this season have been shocking, and for those reasons I would get rid.
I will now wait for the slagging off, sorry in advance.

6.) 23 Jun 2015 18:28:17
Totally agree

7.) 23 Jun 2015 18:36:13
All we miss is Gabby's pace. Sell him, in 2/3 years he'll be no where near the Prem.

8.) 23 Jun 2015 18:50:35
If he wasn't from Birmingham, would there even be a debate ?
Hasn't earned his place for the last 5 years

9.) 23 Jun 2015 21:09:56
Keep him. I like Gabby. That's all.

10.) 23 Jun 2015 22:07:09
I agree, and I like him!

Perhaps he could be half time entertainment, we could watch him miss kicking a ball at a target on the half way line each week

11.) 23 Jun 2015 22:12:21
I get that he's a villa fan and that's great, love his passion. But it's very easy to be loyal when no one else wants you. Good for running at tired defenders and that's about it wouldn't be a big deal if he stays or goes

Forwards:

Kodjia - Lost his mojo. Maybe with a full pre-season he might find it again and I’m more than prepared to give him the chance. However if selling him means we can afford to keep Grealish I’d be OK with him moving on.

Grabban - Not done bad on loan and would be OK with it if we signed him on the cheap, but I would prefer us to go for pacey youth rather than a seasoned journeyman who has never been quite good enough.

Hogan - I feel genuinely sorry for him, it just hasn’t seemed to have clicked for him at Villa. I think there is a player in there and maybe a different manager might get more out of him. Otherwise he will probably be looking to leave and if we can recoup a decent amount of cash even better.

Mccormack - Get rid at all costs, he’s bad news.

Davis - Seems to help the players around him, but hasn’t shown he is prolific enough yet to be leading the line week in week out. Good option for certain games.

RHM - Needs to be promoted to the senior squad and given games.

Midfield:

Lansbury - has been supremely disappointing so far but we know he has the quality. Maybe a change of manager would suit him. If we stick with Brucie, maybe we can get a bit of cash for him.

Grealish - We need to do everything we can to keep him, but if he gets an offer to go to the prem I can’t begrudge him that. Looking at England’s midfield he is easily good enough to be on the plane and I can’t help but have this nagging feeling that being at Villa has slowed his career. If he does go we want £40 mil

Hourihane - Excellent this season for the most part. Need to keep him.

Onomah - Would be too expensive to buy and I would rather promote some of our own youngsters.

Bjarnason - Good squad player who needs more games

Whelan and Jedi - Both old, both slow, both probably on a sizeable wage. Two players essentially doing the job of 1. I think we only need one and we should try and find someone a bit younger. Maybe continue to use Bjarnason at CDM or even Lansbury in games where we don’t need to be as defensive.

Adomah - Gone right off the boil towards the back end of the season and isn’t getting any younger. If we can get a decent wedge for him I’d be OK with letting him go, but otherwise keep him.

Snodders - Don’t think we can afford his wages and would like younger with more pace.

Green - Needs working back into the fold. Looked very promising before injury and
Adomah bagging his position.

O’Hare - Looks promising. Hope to see a bit more of him in the senior team.

Gardner - Has never been able to quite make it at Villa, can’t see that changing.

Defence:

Chester - Our best defender and we need to keep him at all costs.

Terry - Probably won’t stay on. Even if he wants to it’s not a good idea as his wages are a major issue and it’s preventing us building for the future.

Samba - Old, slow, never a starting 11 player. Not horrible as a 4th choice CB.

Hutton - His 9 lives have run out for me, and as good as he has been filling in across the back line it’s time to find a younger replacement. Plus the moment he gets a new contract he will turn to garbage again ;)

Elmo - Indifferent. Depends how much he is on as to whether he is worth keeping.

Bree - Hopefully he’s ready for more regular first team action as we need to be utilising our younger players a lot more.

Taylor - Seems to have disappeared since that leg breaker on Coleman. Maybe he needs a move or maybe a new manager to get his confidence back up. Would love someone with more pace and an attacking mindset though…

De Laet - Not seen enough of him to make a solid judgement, but maybe that’s for a reason… should probably look to get rid

Elphick - He will probably be wanting a move. Not good enough for our starting 11

Richards - Get rid at all costs

Tuanzebe - Can’t see him coming permanently. Might be worth trying for a second loan spell if we can afford it.

Not posted here for a while and I came back hoping Kingy would have some good news (however farfetched! ) but it seems we are in bad shape. Here are my thoughts on the squad.

Steve Bruce - Indifferent. Was able to get us some good loans and JT but the negative style of football he plays isn’t befitting a club like Villa and seemed to cost us the promotion. The age of the players he has bought in is also concerning for the future.

Keepers:

Johnstone - Would be nice to get him but we need a permanent solution and I think he will get better offers.

Bunn - Not good enough for first team

Gollini - No interest in staying, got to go.

Steer - Not good enough for the first team.

AndyVilla

1.) 30 May 2018 17:53:12
Think you could be right AndyVilla but I can't see us hanging on to Johnstone.

24 Mar 2017 23:47:38
Well Neil Taylor said he wanted to play as a striker, and judging by the way he took out Coleman he certainly tackles like one. Always horrible to see injuries like that, get well soon Seamus!

Great idea. We sign all these great players on loan, get promoted and then they all go back to their parent clubs and we are left high and dry.

If by some miracle we did manage to scrape into 6th place and win the playoffs, we would almost certainly be relegated again the following season. I don't want to see us become a yo yo club. Finish the season strong and aim for automatic promotion next season.

I think we'll thought he was a great buy at first but it must be the money that messes with their heads. They have the knowledge that they are getting a massive pay check every week no matter what until their contract is up, whether or not they perform on the pitch or even make the squad. You are relying solely on their desire to be as good as they can be and when you hit 30 and have been doing it for nearly 15 years and you have a cushy contract that you know will pretty much see you out to the end of your career it's understandable that some people will let it slide. Don't get me wrong I don't condone it but what can we do as a club with contracts as they are now. If any of us where crap at our jobs and not putting the work in we be on the dole in no time flat.

Saw a video of some feminazi ideologue saying he should 'consider his position' and that she hoped her daughter would look back at incidents like this and laugh at how it was ever this way. Personally I don't want to live her Orwellian vision of the future where your freedom of speech is non existent and everything you say is scrutinized by an unelected body of authoritarians who's immediate response to anyone not towing the party line is to go after their job.

What happened to the idea of 'I might not agree with what you have to say but I stand by your right to say it'?
