Well, that was about what we deserved and wall I thought we would get today.
Created enough to have won it but ultimately the energy seems to have gone out of performances a bit.
Winter break and a much needed chance to get the squad back to something like full strength for the next league game on the 30th.

Just seen the team news.
It clearly shows how light our squad is. Reasonable starting XI but 2 goalkeepers on the bench and only 8 subs in total.
It will take one of our best performances of the season to get a positive result from today's game. Would take a draw right now then on to the winter break.

Following Emery's press conference earlier it is now crystal clear, if it wasn't before, that FFP rules are having a significant impact on the transfer window. I just wonder how long it will be before SKY flexes it's persuasive muscles in trying to get the rules eased. I say this as they invest an awful lot of time and money into transfer window programming and if there is little to report it will not go down well with them. Remember media love to set/create the agenda.
Watch his space.

As we know FFP is around trying to improve the financial capacity of football clubs and to prevent them spending beyond there means. As such even though SKY have a lot of muscle I can’t see the footballing authorities bending on this issue nor should they to be honest.

I say scrap ffp i say it prevents clubs from progressing apart from the cartel big 6
3.) 13 Jan 2024 00:48:32
Then Newcastle would take over. They're the richest club in the world

I reckon there’s some smoke and mirrors stuff going on here… haven’t we just gained £55M through some shares/investment thing? We are 3 points off the top of the Prem, this is an ideal situation to really go for it ‘do a Leicester’ businessmen make money by taking risks, we have 2 multi billionaires that own us, who have the best accountants etc, I think (hope) they’ve got something up their sleeve, maybe a loan with obligation yo buy in the summer player that will make all the difference, I think it might be Jonathan David, pay a loan fee, deduct that loan fee from the price we’d pay in the summer, a similar thing to how Wedt Ham got Benrrhama, Arsenal and Reyes, you get me?

I’d be very surprised if we don’t buy at least 1 and probably 2, huge chance here for something special, the owners have spent a lot of money getting us to where we are and it wouldn’t make business sense to not make a final push especially when we have the likes of Doug emi and kamara worth huge amounts of money that we could sell one in the summer to balance the books if things don’t work out for us
6.) 13 Jan 2024 14:02:19
The £55m for selling shares doesn't count. It's a capital transaction so doesn't hit the profit and loss and, more importantly, it is in the parent company and not Aston Villa itself.
7.) 13 Jan 2024 17:24:36
Agreed Whackie, the 2 you mentioned would be more than replaceable at the prices we’d get for them (not that I would actively look to sell) We’re in a great position with our squad, not like under Lerner or the dodgy Dr lol

RIP Franz Beckenbauer (Der Kaiser). A true footballing great and gentleman.
Grew up hearing the names Charlton, Moore, Pele, Beckenbauer, Banks, Best in the footballing world. Another legend gone. Heaven has one heck of a World XI tonight.

From being one of our better players in the first half Ramsey is one of our worst.
Time for a change.

Arsenal don’t have the funds for either Dougie or Toney. Player swaps the only option for them so not particularly attractive offer.
13 Jul 2023 21:39:11
Let’s wait and see with this one. We’re now being linked with several players now, particularly attacking options. At least one of these will come off, I’m sure of it.

I would take Gnonto. Good player who creates in opposition 3rd.
One question: Who is AVFCstatto?
30 Apr 2023 09:42:35
Like Gerrard before him, it’s been clear for a while that Emery is not convinced with Archer.
I will be disappointed if we do sell him but that disappointment would be softened if we get anything like £20m for him.
11 Apr 2023 08:52:52
Do you think he’s he sort of player we need LOTM?
I liked him at Leeds but not sure he’s top of our priorities.
If the fee was right I would certainly consider him but not at the expense of quality striker, although with Ollie bang in form UE might change his priorities?

Scott, I watched the Sunderland vs Newcastle game yesterday sat next to a Newcastle fan (who I didn’t know) he kept banging on about the slow build up and was getting more frustrated up until the own goal.
I pointed out to him it seemed more productive to press teams in their own third rather than build quickly. Sure enough that’s exactly how the 2nd goal came about.
Last night was only frustrating because we didn’t win by 2 or 3. VAR gives that penalty all day long and then we go 1-0 up after 60 minutes.
It is frustrating but teams, the top teams, don’t want to give the ball away.
The only thing about last night was our press. I felt we could have pressed higher.
Konsa was spot on about playing the highline without the safety net of VAR. That is something we need to be wary of if we draw a non EPL team in round 4.

No it wasn’t good but there have been plenty of games where we have been very good so no, I’m not worried.
2nd in the league. Last 16 in Conference. 4th round for first time in 8 years.

Whack, he was sold on Thursday! Where have you been? ?
31 Dec 2023 17:21:46
Enjoy every moment. Not in my most optimistic of days did I expect us to be 2nd in the league just over half way through the season. UTV!
Happy New Year all!

Seriously Scotty, you rarely post anything positive on here. When will you be happy with what we’ve achieved?
We have made huge strides in the past 15 months. There have been some blips but the curve is most definitely upwards. In fact we the most improved side in the Premier league by some considerable margin.
It is disappointing when we lose or don’t win but don’t just focus on the negatives.
Happy New Year to all!
