What a joke of a club we are. owner and board only there for themselfs, the managment a joke. That point was proven last sunday against arsenal. How did villa throw away a 2 goal lead?? apart from van p, arsenal are an avareage side. mc leish your team talk must have been class, ha ha!. the preformance level of the players droped by 50%, its not like they should have been tired!! as they played a long ball in the first half, as thats your style mcleish. villa fans, this is no joke, we slipping fast. 6 wins in the leauge, thats not good enough.1 signing and that comes to an end the 25th of feb. our wing backs are a joke, we need someone with legs and experience in the mid. what ever is going on behind close doors in the club has to change. on another note we did not deserve 2 beat wolves, and we wouldnt have, if they didnt go down to 10 men. if the board and the managment are in charge next season, i will not purchase any villa merchendise, or go to another villa game or watch, or support the club.

Typical, loads of transfer talk on other club's sites but not a thing on villa's. Guess we're doomed to lower half mediocrity for the remainder of this season and maybe longer. What's happened to the board's ambition ?

Guess we'll find out tonight against QPR, without doubt a six pointer ! A must win game but given our recent performances at home who knows what we'll get

Yet another poor performance, QPR were dreadful and we were still unable to secure three points. How is it that highly paid professional footballer can even pass the ball or put in a decent cross ?

I hope that we can comopete with Bolton in the Zaha chase as i think he'd make sense.
Between now and the summer i can envisage reasonable amounts of activity, Heskey, Beye, Dunne, Collins all moving on. They would for sure need replacing.
Names that are popping up are Rondon, Dann, DunkMcGugan, De Laet, Keane (long term). They all would be good business from my point of view. We may also go head to head with Man Utd for Clyne.
Believable0
Unbelievable1
In the summer were letting Heskey,Cuellar,Beye and Collins go so Obviously Villa will buy cheap to replace them i expect Villa to sign Rondon,Dann
and it would be a great bit of Business to sign Zaha and cut our loses with N'zogbia or sign Scott Sinclair

i think lerner and eck are doing a great job clearing out all the dead wood that has been bought in by oneil. taking out petrov, heskey, collins, warnock, beye, would leave a good foundation to build on,
given,guzan,marshall
hutton, dunne, clarke, stevens (keeping ceullar would save money on getting another defender in and also his versality would be a asset in my opinon but a new left back and central defender must be added)
figuero , dann
herd,gardner,ireland,nzogbia,albrighton,makoun,bannan,johnson,delph(another attacking midfeilder required)

Our wage bill wouldn't be as bad as it is if we actually sold the players we don't need instead of letting their contracts run out. 10 players were released last year and half of them just sat in the reserves until their contract expired.
Believable9
Unbelievable0
Not that easy to ship the deadwood out as they want to move on to another club that will pay them the same wage they are on now and to some of our deadwood, that's not going to happen if a fee wanted or needed. So they sit put and will probably make up the shortfall in wages drop in a signing on fee when they go for free and if some have a good agent they get a loyalties bonus on top too!

I have also heard Allbrighton is Sunderland bound before the end of the month and may not be the only decent player we have who will be heading to the SOL. Spend money he may have done but just watch SAFC move up the league now. They are a big club with tremendous support if MON is given the backing they will move. BRING MON BACK TO VILLA

They bring that little sniveling weasel back to Villa Park and I will never go again. Its partly his fault we are in the situation we are. His spending was woefull and he wasted millions that Lerner gave him when he was still interested on rubbish that he never picked. Friends that are Celtic fans will concur and warned me when he became manager...Sunderland fans enjoy the honeymoon period because he will do exactly the same at your club. Makes me laugh as he claims publically he wants craig Gardner..after he shipped him out at the first opportunity at Villa. Come back to the Midlands Craig, you'd be better off at any of the clubs here

Don't be daft MON was a legend at villa we played quality football and had players that any club would want who put in a performance most weeks. Now ,bar a few exceptions , we got a bunch of mediocre players who just want to leave. The tackle on Bent was soooo a pen. Don't know why the 'Man On' call was not shouted by the players around - or by the fans! OK Albrighton made the most of his rolling around but end of the day Henry should have not raised his foot back as he did, so Wolves fans should be calling for the head of Henry and not calling Albrighton a cheat. Henry was the one that cost them the draw. At least they will have a nice new stand to fill in the Championship next year!

I have a first degree relative that works at a high level in the QIIB. I have reason to believe that an Aston Villa takeover is being discussed, I don't know what there is to consider specifically, but I just know it is being considered. I thought it was BS at first but I'm hopeful now. People will say I'm making it up but if that were the case I would've gone with a directional situation rather than a null one. SY

I think its pathetic that we are watching all these clubs getting linked and being in talks with new players and strengthening ready to fight for survival in the premier league when we are sat there doing jack sh*t (apart from the ludicrous 500k loan deal for keane). Why on earth are we not moving for players such as kranjcar, defoe and even alex. I know QPR have millions of pound to play with but i cant understand why lerner wont stump up any cash. As much as i despise mcleish's management of the team i feel sorry for him in the sense that he has been thrown in at the deep end without a paddle because our team needs MAJOR overhaul to even stay in the league i reckon. I know that sounds harsh but its a realistic prospect. I would love to be on here saying all these rumours but unfortunately and i dont know how considering the large sums of money we received last summer we are in this position. Put up or shut up Lerner. UTV!
Believable3

Suppose we'll never know on what basis McLeish accepted the managers job but would guess that the question of transfer funds was discussed. So either Lerner promised money and hasn't delivered or McLeish accepted the job knowing there would be no transfer funds.

If he took the job knowing there were no funds then he is more of a person than we all think cos that is suicidal to be honest.
Agree1

That is the reason why marteniz and all of the other candindates rejected the job. mc leish is a duck. the board have no ambition, we are sinking fast. I cant understand why mc leish signed robbie. I like robbie he is a descent player, but it is so obivious other positions needs strenghting. for example, warnock is very poor. alot of the goals we concede comes, from his left hand side. petrov has not the legs any more for midfield. Mc leish knew this was going to happen. he took the job because he knew birminghan was shrinking fast and to make a quick book at villa. he has not got the managerial skills to progress with us.

villa planning on a standing area in the ground so that we get in more capacity!!
How are they going to attract more fans back to the ground when there is nothing to watch. (nothing makes no sense at all, capacity is not going to rise with what is offered at the moment)
Am i wrong or would it not be more worthwhile for the board to spend money on a exciting young squad with a few star names and quality coming from the ranks and the fans to know we are not going to sell but build each season to get to the top and compete with the best in europe and then look at the ground capacity ?

At the end of the mcleish accepted the job even though it was quite clear no funds would be available for him to spend and with players we still have we should never be in this position anyway but it all comes down to mr learner not stumping up money we have sold nearly 60 million pounds worth of talent and spent 30 million over last 2 season .... so where the f**k has the other 30 million gone in his back pocket i expect and all the money he has put into villa we have got to give back as it was a loan to the club from him not like other clubs where you buy a club to put your money in .... Must say that for a club with no money we seem to spend a lot on loan players. £1m on Jenas, £500k on Keane. And whilst I welcome Keane's arrival, @ £70k+ a game we can't afford to see him warming the bench. Having endured yet another woeful performance, plus some inept defending by an element of our back four, on Saturday the substitution made by McLeish after 80 minutesshould have taken place at half time thereby given the players time to adjust to the new formation. Perhaps before Mcleish starts moaning about the size of the wage bill he'll remember that it was his decision to spend £500k on Keane and then not play him !! You can't have it both ways !!

So now we are getting rid of Nike, fair enough if there is problems with deliveries and the quality of the Matchday kit/Merchandise (Can't say I have had any problems with anything I have) as it's a business decision and obviously we want money to come into the club....but Macron? seriously? This is just another sign that the club is going downhill. Whay arent we in negotiations with a bigger company? surely we are still an attractive proposition for a comoany such as Addias or Umbro a company with a proven history of sportswear not some second rate Italian company who provide kits to a few Championship teams and Charlton? Had a look on the West ham website and the stuuf's rubbish. Just read the last few posts and feel like throwing myself off a bridge. Yes we need a clear out, and yes were not pulling up any trees this season. But we've had 18 months of uncertainty at the club, we need to back mcleish. The blokes inherited a disjointed team and his hands are tied financially. Whether we like it or not we cant compete with the top 5 or 6 clubs financially but were still in a better position than most. Mcleish needs to bring his own team in and the fans need to be patient. Replace Ireland, Heskey, Dunne ,Collins, and Warnock, they all offer little are overpaid and could be easily replaced. Fancy a win tomorrow. Up the Villa.

McLeish has said that we are unlikely to sign any more players in January and yet more talk of reducing the wage bill. Is all this emphasis on reducing costs in anticipation of his failure to keep us in the premiership ? It appears obvious to me that we need to sign a few quality players to maintain our premiership status (said it before the season started and it seems that the realistic predictions of many villa fans are now, unfortunately, coming true). Do the board and the manager think that we can survive with good results in the next 5/6 games (those that Keane is around for) ? if we win every one, doubtful with our current indifferent form, we would only have 41 points one point above the number that most managers agree is required as a minimum for survival. Hate to be pessimistic but if we don't buy we'll be in trouble as our back four have been less than impressive this season. You never know though, miracles might happen and Mcleish might drop Hutton, Warnock and Collins and play Cuellar, Clarke and Stevens (he can't be any worse then our regular full backs !). Here's hoping that we see something worth cheering about tomorrow but who knows, certainly not the manager as he seems incapabable of motivating the team to give a performance of effort, quality and consistency. If we're lucky we may get one out of three.

Now dont get me wrong theres a lot of people on here are very pessimistic. In my opinion who can blame them. We are lacklustre both on the field and the way the club is managed off the field. No i dont blame it all on mcleish either. Yes he is a terrible manager and it was scandalous that he changed the team that played against chelsea just to accomodate darren bent but that game is done now and we need to move on. My problem is with the chairman. Why he ever put mcleish in charge none of us will ever know BUT you cannot make that sort of a decision and not back the man financially. We need a new back 4 and a CM, maybe a new striker as darren bent will inevitably drop the club like a stone and leave. However something tells me that Keane will be the only player that comes in which i think is a travesty as the cost involved could have been put to better use on a permanent signing that is 1. not past it and 2. eligible to play more than 5/6 games for the club. I would love for us to relive glory days as too often as a villa fan we have to talk about history. This wasnt what lerner promised and i would like to think he would listen to the fans once in a while. Also the qatari takeover that is proposed....... bulls**t. Every other rumour site on here has rumours of takeover. This is the price we pay for what happened at man city and chelsea.

Why are any Villa fans bothering to speculate or just plain lie about who we are going to buy? Randy Lerner has clearly given up on the club and is more interested in recouping money he has spent in previous windows. I'm sure he bought the club with best intentions but has become bored and unless we are sold we will not be buying anyone of note or talent. The Bent rumours have probably begun from within the club in order to speed a sale and lets face it his track record of loyalty is hardly great. Expect the Keane deal to go through but AM to leave him on the bench and bring him on when the game has passed us by and is unwinnable. great times ahead under RL and AM...if mid table obscurity is great times. A once great club is finished and before you all start slagging me off calling my pesimistic I am just realistic

I agree. Whats even funnier is that many fans call for Pienaar and Robbie Keane signings, but why?
Pienaar would mean Albrighton, NZogbia, Gabby and Ireland would get less time on the pitch.....is he really that much better than any of them?
Likewise with Keane. Who loses playing time when he is playing for Villa?
To be honest we dont look like that big a threat to go down (touch wood). So why then dont we start shipping out the likes of Heskey, Petrov, Warnock (absolute disgrace), Collins (disgrace also), Hutton (worst RB ive seen at VP since Useless De la Cruz) and start trying to blood the youngsters?
the youngsters play for the badge as it means something to them whilst the rest are just mercenaries who dont give a crap as long as the checks keep rolling in

It seems from reading the Liverpool page on this site.
they seem totally convinced that Bent signing for them is just a matter of time, I however think that this is wishful thinking on their part, they seem to think that they are still the massive club that they once were, I belive Bent will still be at Villa Park in Febuary what do you think guys?..

In The Jan Transfer Window , I Would Like To See Moves For:
-Kranjcar (2.5M)
-Keane (Loan)
-Davis (Swap Deal For Cuellar)
-Onuoha (2.5M)
I Think These Moves Would Strenghten Our Slim Squad Under Budget.

McCleish is doing my head in with this "wage budget" business. Don't expect many signings at all, Djalo might be signed after his trial and Keane on loan and hey presto, that's all what we need to make us a top half team again, apparantly.

I think it's about time Randy Lerner woke up and realised that he has made a massive mistake in giving Mcleish a job.I don't care he was at the blues he's just c?p and is clueless. Mr learner please as a harden villa fan who has the clubs best interests at heart LISTEN to the fans, they know football more tha you do like you said when you came to the club, you don't own the villa the villa fans do so listen to them and get rid of Mcleish, if you don't we will get relegated and the club won't be worth as much in the championship,as you only seem to be worried about money and not success. I think it's about time the villa fans stood up and where heard by mr Lerner..

Albrighton was poor against Chelsea and Stoke

Talent wise Ireland is our best player he was against chelsea and swansea playing in his favoured role all the players at the club hold him in high regard the manager should build the team around this lad because if he's given the confidence by the manager this boy is top draw

Aston Villa Transfer 2012 January:
We have been linked with many players to come in during January. They are:
Tranquillo Barnetta-- Bayer Leverkusen
Darron Gibson-- Manchester United
Markus Henriksen-- Rosenborg
Robbie Keane-- LA Galaxy
Josh McEachran-- Chelsea
Steven Davis-- Rangers
Bobby Zamora-- Fulham
Jean-Alain Boumsong-- Panathinaikos
Danny Guthrie-- Newcastle United
Jacob Butterfield-- Barnsley
Steven N'Zonzi-- Blackburn Rovers
I personally would love for the Villa to sign; D.Guthrie, J.McEachran, T.Barnetta and R. Pavlyuchenko. Possibly J.Defoe doesn't start many games and may want a move out. Arsene Wenger looks set to move M.Chamakh out maybe we could look for a loan deal till the end of the season and possible buy in the summer if Darren Bent goes in the summer. We also need a decent centre back.
I can't see Mcleish doing much the useless ginger t**t he is. But hopefully we bring in some good top players to help us shoot up the table and will give service to our forwards.

Speculation about Bent may be rife but who can blame him for being unsettled when we fail, other than the Arsenal game when he wasn't playing, to get crosses into the box. After a superb battling performance at Chelsea we follow it up with a woeful performance against Swansea where we were far to narrow. Surely McLeish can get the team to play wide expansive football ! and then maybe with a little work we can get a decent final ball. With the quality we have should be able to achieve this.
