If Lambert needed any convincing to sign Ince then his goal against Watford should do that.

so, 2 days remaining and STILL no firm interest in signing anyone new, I will be disappointed if we don't get at least 1 more player (dcm) as I think we could struggle big time again this season especially at VP where we have no real game-plan.
does anyone have any info on whether we will or won't dip in to the market once more?
Dont worry, Lambert likes a last minute deal and I think that a "name" will appear on Monday. Who it might be I don't know, I'm not kingvilla or azza, so I am not privvy to shopping lists just a punter anticipating good news.
Since when does Azza reel off lists of players! He never completely confirms, any deals that will go through, just stating what is said and heard from hid contacts. Kingvilla is another level. careful what you say guys, we have to trust some people on here and Azza should be one of them.

Anyone else think villa should try and get Lewis holtby on loan this season?
30 Aug 2013 21:16:42
King Villa linked with move to daily sport! They see him as the ideal candidate to keep the tradition of filling there newspaper with absolute garbage!
All the abuse the bloke gets but if he didn't post these sites would be dead
Following all the comments on here about kingvilla, love or loathe, I suggest we rename the site after him. This would make his dreams come true. Fame, notoriaty, talked about in parliament and probable invite to a Buck. House tea party. There would be no end to his self esteem and he could sign autographs at VP prior to games. He has become a leg end in his own life time. HAIL KINGVILLA. Sainthood will surely follow.
PS Have I over stated his case?
I think we should leave KingVilla alone as he highlights a very important issue
Care in the community is just not working
Lol kingvilla just smiles. Told you all I post what I here. Ok my sources look bad at best at mo but hey ill have my day just wiat and see lol
Hi kingvilla,
Every dog has its day. Not sure if you are barking but you amuse and infuriate all at the same time.
Personally I would like to see one of your rumours come to fruition so that you could say "told you so. "
30 Aug 2013 18:51:41
Lambert made a revised bid for Ba, and the only hold is whether Mangala is leaving or not. If we can get him, and Ince, and possibly 1 holding midfielder to add a little bit more depth, as Delph, Gardner and KEA are all susceptible to injuries, we would be on course for a top-ten and hopefully a cup win
29 Aug 2013 15:45:02
Possible movement in and out before deadline
Ins
Tom ince 2.5 mil plus bannan
Steven defour 12 mil
Ba from porto 3 mil euros or loan
cresswell 2 mil plus bennet on loan.
Outs
Ireland celtic season loan
Given westbrom season loan
bowery walsaw or doncaster loan
Bowery to Walsaw? Is that Walsall or Warsaw?
I'll congratulate you on your score of 0/7 now. Since the only 2 deals even remotely likely are ince and given. And I highly doubt ince will only cost £2.5m + bannan when he was going to cardiff for £8m
Given maybe off to the Pool.
If there is moderation on this site, can we ban 'kingvilla' if less than two of these deals are completed by deadline?
KIngvilla only puts his thoughts on here. He has no inside knowledge nor contacts. The simple basis is that he wants to provide us with an insight into the mind of someone that wants to be loved. Overall his record of correct predictions would no doubt have him relegated. Could he be from the dark side of the city? Unquestionably he has an attention deficiency that comes out on this site. We all read his posts and then he rejoices in the fact that we all are critical of him. A born attention seeker and when one of his thousands of predictions come to fruition, he will let us all know time and time again.
Lol. Yes spot on there with the attention seeker wanting to be loved. Pmsl. And trust me i'm villa all the way bloody dark side I don't think. And may I remind you that 90 per cent of everyones predictions on here don't come off. I mean where is wijnldum he was defo signing as said by most of you on here. I have said before I share what I hee and don't claim i'm right very often but hey what's the idea of the site. All you fm wannabees need to get a grip.
And ince will only cost us an outlay of 2.5 mil as I said as blackpool will have to give liverpool 45 percent of fee and liverpool owe us 5 to 6 mil on downing hence where I get the 2.5 mil from when its all said and done.!
King Villa
Could you run those maths by me again?
I did pretty well at school but I'm confused
How does Liverpool owing us money, from a totally different transaction, affect the fee we may or may not pay to Blackpool for Ince?
Hey kingvilla, we all love you, you silly billy. Just try and get some reality into your posts!
Basically what you are saying is because liverpool owe us money we only have to pay £2.5m? This would be true if it was the only transfer we had made this summer, but the money we make isn't knocked off a single transfer fee, its knocked off all of them, so its really only about 850k off the ince fee.
The tie between blackpool and liverpool is completely irrelevant to us, we have payed x amount for all of our signings this summer, and we are making £6m from the money liverpool owe us. Not only that but what's to say that the money blackpool give to liverpool will be ours anyway? Its up to us and liverpool when we get the money gets payed, and like me and mendax have pointed out, this owed money has absolutely nothing to do with blackpool or ince.
Either way we should all stop talking about liverpool and blackpool in the same thread, because at the moment every other word is ending in pool and its hurting my brain lol
29 Aug 2013 14:54:36
I hope bannan goes he is rubbish and hope to bring in ince utv!
28 Aug 2013 19:40:56
Maybe we should offer Delfouneso as part of the I've deal on a permanent deal along with Bannan as the fee could be reduced to 3m plus Bannan who is valued at 3m and N. D at 2m, leaving 3m left. The club know the fee as Cardiff had agreed on earlier in the Summer

I don't know why everyone is on such a rant about weinman and generally slagging off the team.
Put it this way, I remember when the fixtures came out this summer (I was on holiday in Greece :) anyway. looked at the first 6 games and said to my mate. 'f***ing hell ill be happy with 3 points from them first 6'. he just looked at me (typical manc) and said 'yer if your lucky'. i'm a happy villa fan right now! get behind the team!
I'd have taken 3 points from the first 3. I said I want 2-4 and that was massively hoping, and if we play like we have 35 more times this season we can smash any team outside the top 4! let's go back to last season and think about how awful some games were, we couldn't pick a man of the match half the time because we were so awful. Compare that to this year, where its difficult to pick a man of the match because several players deserve it! I really don't get why people are moaning because we lost to chelsea and liverpool, and its not even like we got bullied off the park like schoolboys, we gave both team a great run for their money and if cech and mignolet didn't make some crucial saves and kevin friend knew how to ref we'd have walked away with 9 points. People would probably still moan then but never mind, some peoples glasses are always half empty. I just chose to ignore it and be happy with the progress we are making.
We are doing fantastically well !!!!
I agree that it is out of order to slag off Weimann.
The guy is decent player who gives his all and deserves better service than he is getting from our midfield
Some great points made there not sure about the first post 3 points from 6 games but defniatly 3 from 3 if we had drawn them all people would be saying how good the results were and what we might be able to acheive etc looks more likely that we will go with what we have got which is not a bad thing lads we have good depth which we haven't seen in years and above all togetherness which is what pulled us through last season. With the added competition for places the lads are fighting not only for the team but for their place in it which is why we will have no relegation problems this time and the chance of going one better and making a final I believe.
Naturalvillan
Exactly right lads! I think the competition for places will do us great. Think back to last january, off the back off losing 3 games conceded 15 and scoring 0, we lost to league 2 bradford in the cup. With barry bannan putting in the worst performances I have seen from any villa player in many years, he still could not be dropped as there wasn't anybody else to play. Sylla came in and sent bannan to the bench and we ultimately improved. At the start of last season, most players were pretty much guarenteed a place and this season, nobody is. It will keep players on their toes and at their best and when the other players get a chance they have to perform to try and cement a starting 11 place. I don't see what the fuss is about personally, i'm very happy as a villa fan now and I think a finish around 10/11 is good progress and will set us up nicely for next season. Also on another note, is anybody else happy that many pundits and fans of other teams are saying agbonlahor and delph deserve england call ups? That in itself shows the improvement!
Noone would complain if it were three draws.
Same amount of points in the end, plus we have gotten the better of Chelsea and Pool at various points throughout the matches. just need consistency.
One other quick thing, does anyone else see Benteke as being fairly sloppy with his general play so far?
Finishing is superb, but the basics are not there right now. Might be nit picking, but I don't recall him losing the ball much, if at all last season.
Leroy
Yes leroy! Glad somebody else sees it. I'm more than happy for him to average a goal a game, but he is by far the laziest member of our matchday squad! He seems to be a bit too calm on the ball and I think he's sort of expecting not to get tackled because of who he is. Maybe somebody just needs a little word in his ear to bring him back down to earth.
26 Aug 2013 14:43:48
I have just heard the rumour that kingvilla has signed a contract with a well known publisher. He/she has been contracted to write a series of fantasy football stories based on the postings on this site under the name of Elsie Getsitrite. Well done kingvilla!
25 Aug 2013 20:22:59
Although playing 3 matches in 7 days against good opposition won't have helped our cause, I think yesterday showed up where we are short (assuming we didn't already know)
Midfield, Delph aside, is a real concern. We lack imagination and the ability to hold on to the ball well enough. That is not going to be rectified with lower league acquisitions with potential. We need a couple of central midfield players with real ability and that will cost. Although I think Westwood is a reasonable player, I don't go along with the theory that he will one day be good enough for England (although with the present England side I could be wrong). If we were to have any ambition, he would be a player that we had on the bench who could be relied on as a fresh pair of legs when needed.
El Ahmadi has improved from last year but that is nothing to pop the champagne over
I like Sylla but he is a purely defensive player.
Someone like Coutinho would walk in to our team
Randy, I know you had your fingers burnt by O'neill, Houllier and the other fella who's name I can't bring myself to mention, but you finally have a manager you can trust with the cash.
Don't waste the opportunity
What your saying then is we need a defour or a rodwell! Lol. Na joking aside a fully agree
WE need kingvilla. His/her imagination would open any defence.
I agree we need a player with flare which we haven't had since young Milner and downing left but Westwood I see as Barry's replacement keeping the ball up with tidy passes and Delphi is becoming the new petrov with sylla benteke Gaby and weinmann are quality going forward with the exception gab and weimanns finishing needs polishing
We've tightened up at the back Luna is by far a better player than Bennett and okore (the tank)rrarely putsch foot wron
We need to see what helenius banana and tonev can do although I'm pleased with what I've seen so far of them but with all that said I believe villa won't be any where near a relegation battle this year I reckon anything from 9th to 12th
Cleav81
I keep saying the name Yoann Gourcuff and I'll keep saying it unitil someone signs him as he's a realistic target and a fantastic creative player.
Gourcuff
gourcuff
GOURCUFF!

Liverpool dropped that deep second half which was a credit to our forwards not every team will be able to defend like that and we can't expect benteke to score every game last year Liverpool would have would by more than that so am extremely pleased with the progress because will give a lot of teams a right hiding here endeth the lesson
Your wrong we won't win many games at villa park we can only counter attack ( the lesson for you is, to not be satisfied with 2nd best
Agree with the first comments all villa need to do is sharpen up the attack and polish the finishing up for when benteke is being marked out the game Villa dominated Liverpool after 35 mins for the rest of the match something that isn't easy to do we had 9 shots on goal compared with there 2 and we played well against arsenal and Chelsea thus when we play any editable teams we should be more than enough to beat the majority of teams in the league now that the defense has been tightened really rating Luna and okore who should be nicknamed the tank
Totally agree with the above comment. We'r one of the best counter attacking teams in the league the stats don't lie. However at home we will look rather one dimensional as we did yesterday without that creative flair player (ie gourcuff) that we crave.
Finch
My lesson is to not take second best apparently and we won't win many home games nice comment from a man with no name another doomboy
Ok got a name its villajk not a doom boy, just reality, but we will get more points away, unless we get a skillfull midfielder someone like Sid Cowans have a good day villajk
It seems that anyone that disagrees with Villasmurf is automatically a doom and gloom supporter. He can't relate reality and events. C'mon muff, allow others to have an opinion, you are not always correct as none of us are.
Nice comments gentlemen and I take what your saying the funny thing is I love everybodys comments that's what makes it interesting maybe I wear my heart on my sleeve to much sometimes but I like the rest of you love the villa and by the way I'm always right NOT
24 Aug 2013 21:47:57
Every ones saying we need an attacking midfielder. I think we need a defensive one to spread the ball out wide or just produce some quality balls from the midfield. A player like scholes. We had so many chances to play players through today and couldn't find that bit of quality from midfield. Although I do think delph was outstanding again today.
Scholes wasn't a dmc!
Count how many times delph gave to ball away
Not many, certainly our best player in the opening games wev played. Westy still hasn't hit top form yet either and I'd be tempted to drop him and change the formation to 442 at home.
Must admit iv been impressed with KEA too!
Finch
A player like Barry is needed. Cool head, good vision and able to pass the ball. Not saying it should be Barry but someone like this is essential.
We all have to remember that Lambert has to get it right this season as Lerner will not sit tight as he did last year, if he fails will Lerner pull the plug and look elsewhere. I think that Lambert will do the job that we want him to do, but will he do it quick enough?
I think lambert s the best manager villa has had in years and dosent face the sack at all. I agree with the comment above about Barry. I don't think Barry would fit but a player younger and fitter would be perfect

Shame about the result today. we did not get started until the last 30 minutes and we could have nicked a point.
Okore looked very impressive, Bucuna looked weak and lost at times. We did not penetrate well enough, but top performances from Gabby and Delph. again, as well as Weimann and Vlaar playing well, Tonev was energetic but we do lack the defence unlocking play through the middle, which lead to a lack of goal scoring chances. I am still happy with the start to the season, well done Okore on your full debut.
I thought weimann was pretty ineffective today, and for me personally vlaar is a bit of a weak link in the defence at the moment. Bacuna looked nervous and too eager to impress and if benteke doesn't have a great game we're always going to struggle. We looked tired as well, I don't think fitness is the problem but working as hard as you have to away at arsenal, then at chelsea is bound to take it out of any player! Onwards and upwards now
23 Aug 2013 20:56:30
Let's hope for a good result tomorrow after the great performances of the last week we owe them scousers at home especially that b------s gerrard
Here's hoping for an2-1 home win

Aston Villa were using the Viktor Fischer interest as a smoke screen, the real target is.
wait for it.
Belhanda.
Kiyotake.
Boudebouz.
Tendayi Darikwa.

lambert to pull off a shoca! Willian to come to villa in a 35 mil deal. Spurs saw off liverpool then chelsea saw off spurs now boom pl wipes jose out and willian will be our new am. !! Lol
Blimey,
Things must be quiet when King Villa is succumbing to self-parody
It is self parody isn't it King Villa?.
The same Willian who has just signed for Chelsea? Lol
KingVilla get a life, obviously a Loose Nose. dream to be where we are. The City is Ours.
Yes I have a sense of humour lol

I am hearing Newcastle are looking at Yoann Gourcuff, a player who I believe would be a great acquisition to the Villa and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg either. So come on Randy put your hand in your pocket and spend some of the money saved from the bent deal!
finch
Something will be in the press maybe from Sunday / Monday regarding this player, personal terms still not yet agreed but should still happen.
Selling club "European" being a bit difficult as well over add-ons.
Could now take two weeks to cement the deal.
Will be a great signing if this goes through though as I expect.
P. S To the guy who said I am keeping my head down, yes I am, but if this deal does not happen I will admit it and reveal who I am.
Relax.

Once again the big clubs have the ref in their pocket, definate pen. could almost see his blue shirt under his black kit.
Totally agree and a goal from a player who should have been red carded for dangerous play which looked suspiciously off side
What a performance from the lads this certainly put last seasons result to bed
Looking forward to Saturday and another spirited performance
In PL we trust
I thought we were excellent last night. The ref favoring the premier league contenders once again, is anyone else surprised by this?! not sour grapes or anything but this is ruining the league in my opinion.

Viktor Fischer from ajax is apparently a target for PL with 10 goals scored last season. He is an attacking midfielder/LW and could prove to be a valuable asset.
20 Aug 2013 21:47:46
Villa have already agreed a fee with a club and are now ironing out the players personal terms.
Should be sorted in a few days.
You will all be very surprised at this signing I know I am, and have to say a happy chappy.
I am not saying any more because I know the flak I will get, so to avoid all of that I will remain ANON

Now would be the time to step forward and prove your ITK status´ gents
Is boudeux the kid we've been monitoring or wjndrum who we've been linked with
Fischer?
Viktor Fischer from Ajax 19 and scored 10 goals last season
This guy is on about fisher from ajax. I've just herd we have put a 7 mil bid on the table and the player to fly over tomoz maybe friday for talks.
Well kingvilla reckons its on. was good while it lasted I suppose

edz004. I've just read your response to a number of bullet pointed tranfser rumours on the Arsenal page {b4 you ask I was just checking for any validity in the rumours their also chasing Wijnaldum}. I thought the response was great and something you might think about applying your to all our page. just a thought.
That being said could you "Do you Thang" on these or are they just a bit of transfer ceramic waffle.
Wijnaldum. Omar, Ryad {Ed001's Note - are you sure it was Ed004 that did that? He doesn't remember doing any such thing and nor do any of the other editors.}

Notwithstanding the new contract, there is a possibility that both Arsenal and Chelsea will make bids for Benteke before the transfer window closes.
Arsenal are becoming increasingly desperate to sign players to appease fans and having failed to sign Higuain and Suarez, are now short on options. Villa will be a good place to demand silly amounts of money. Similar applies to Chelsea: if they fail to sign Rooney, Jose will look to find another forward with Drogba-style abilities. Benteke is the obvious target.
In many ways, a new contract is absolutely irrelevant. Nevertheless, the situation gives Villa an advantage, in terms of rejecting the bid or demanding an enormous fee.
Only have low to medium confidence in this. I suspect if a bid emerges, it will be close to deadline day.
I would like to think he is knuckling down for a season to secure his World Cup berth. wishful perhaps but I expect the contract to have softly stipulated that he can leave after the World cup. should the right offer come in.
Furthermore Arsenal fans may be waving pitchforks like angry peasants, but Wenger and the business brains are not quite so witless. they will have their targets and not rush into big money offers for players who do not already have the reputation of world class players who can help them push on to the next level. If they can get Cabeye for 15m a defender for 10m and a top striker then the peasants will stop demanding crumbs.
Again with Chelsea, Mourinho knows he has quality players, he is not going to go for another Demba Ba, he will wait to bring in HIS top targets, Rooney is undoubtedly the man they want. Lukaku, Shurrle, Torres and Ba as well as a literney of top class attacking midfielders, he knows there is very little missing from his jigsaw and a bid for Benteke does not seem a wise move for him.
20 Aug 2013 06:34:25
Pl wants 2 more players for def. A att creative midfielder and someone who can cover right back and centre back. He would also grab a defensive midfielder if the right player and package popped up. I've herd gary gardner will be loaned to a championship side for the season as well to get experience.
Does anyone have any players they would love to see fill these roles. Mine would be wijnaldum and mhica richards if he were available for the right price.
Yes kingvilla.
There has been a discussion about it for the last month.
Just read previous posts, you will get some idea.

20 Aug 2013 00:49:31
anyone think villa should go for milner in a loan deal? I really think he would come back to villa and could be the that extra bit of quality we crave to produce the chances for the beast benteke
Only take him back permanently.
Would love to have milner back whether it be a loan deal or permanent and I think it'd do wonders for our squad but his wages are a problem and I don't think that pellegrini (probably spelt that wrong) would let him leave on a loan deal especially if it included man city paying a percentage of his wages. Also if we wanted him permanently we'd have to something in the region of £12-£15mil
19 Aug 2013 21:04:19
Barry on loan for the season would make me happy.
furthermore, a creative midfielder like Wiljadarum or a centre half would do nicely.
8-10m for a Shawcross or Wiljadarum would be quite a spend so perhaps just Barry on loan to conclude our business, but we can all cross our fingers whilst getting secretly carried away

19 Aug 2013 19:48:46
I really feel we have scored an own goal by letting Bent go to Fulham on loan
The money they saved on a transfer fee for Darren seems to have been spent on Scott Parker, who joined them today
In other words, a team that will be competing at our end of the table have now got 2 decent players due to our inability to hold our nerve and demand a transfer fee.
I just hope that Lambert really needed Bent off the books to fund a decent midfield signing of his own
I hope so to Mendax.
villadave
Ah relax mendax! I wouldn't be surprised if parker has an injury riddled season anyway.
I think you highlighted a good point regarding bents loan, surely loaning a player to one of our close competitors suggests money being freed up for transfers, don't you think?

I hope so gents. I really do

Quality realistic transfers:
1)Wildnaldum-8m, a good young AM with a flair and. a. bit of arrogance reminds me of Taarabt
2)Will Hughes-6m, a solid DM who will give us 5 options Delph Sylla Westwood ElAhmidi Hughes
3)Robert Huth- 9m and experienced CB to partner Clark in defense with Vlaar and Okore also available, Baker to be used as cover for RB
9m for Robert huth, are you taking meth mate. Seriously. We have younger players more adept than huth he is a solid guy but I wouldn't want to see villa signing defenders like that
Will Hughes is a attacking midfielder
El Ahmidi is not good enough I prefer Sylla and Gardner should be coming on 15/20min a time when a sub is needed we need him fit
18 Aug 2013 22:01:03
Is it only me who is feeling a mixture of happiness, annoyance and irritation with regard to the hysterical response of Arsenal fans and the media at large over our apparent "giant killing" act in beating Arsenal at the weekend?
Have we really sunk so far that Arsenal fans find it so upsetting to be beaten by us. And for the media to see it as such a talking point?
Just thinking out loud
100% agree mate but it's been 2 seasons since we were truelly competitive in the league
Hopefully that's changing now as although we've given the big teams a tough game we've rarely beat them in the last 2 seasons
I just hope this result says more about our progression than Arsenal's decline
I suspect it's a bit of both
That'll do
18 Aug 2013 17:50:51
Rumours abound about Maxi Lestienne for £14m. I can't say I believe it as he is a really top player but if we really are going to spend in that ballpark then
Kouyate - £6m &
A Propa (not proper) playmaker in the £8m - £10m would be a better investment
Omar Abdulrahman
Wijnaldum
Siem De Jong
Eriksen
Kovacic
Vihena
Feghouli
Are all in that price range

I know its totally off subject, but what would be everybodys thoughts on steve davis, the crewe manager being the next manager of the england u21s? In the past few years he has bought through nick powell, westwood and luke murphy, all of whom look very promising, especially westwood. Also when we played them in pre season they played some good stuff when in possesion so I think that he would do well at the u21 post.
That's a good shout mate
But Dario was doing that for years at Crewe prior to davis coming in. Can see the media suggesting someone like Becks! But my shout would be hodgson despite not being his biggest fan I think it will give him a better understanding of any talent that's coming through. He needs to ditch a few of those big time charlies in that team
Finch
In my opinion it should be a coach not a manager. Someone like southgate who is passionate but I can see them offering it to Paul ince, shearer, or Neville. An ex player is a must for me

Real Madrid showing an interest in Helenius, Villa have been told to name their price.
According to papers 5mil plus add ons is their favoured option.
Hope this is not true because he is one for the near future, that's for sure, I think you all know by now how I feel about the lad.
I just hope PL feels the same way.
villadave
Helenius has only just joined so why would he leave? And if he did leave to Madrid that would be a massive mistake because he won't play a lot of games for them.
Its not me mate, only saying what I have read in the papers.
villadave
He's agent has said on twitter he's going nowhere
18 Aug 2013 11:06:44
Rumours that Barkley has a 10m release clause, would be worth it as he has a lot of potential
18 Aug 2013 00:15:34
Great result today had 3-1 at the bookie man but unfortunately for me had benteke first goalscorer in that bet never mind would just like to say I thought ciaran Clark was solid when he came on so credit where it's due I think he was starting to believe the hype of a few years ago when it Was said man u were looking at him that wasn't from kingsvilla by the way so onwards and upwards and Luna if had scored that goal for one of the so called big teams they would be calling you on of the best attacking full backs around well done lads onwards and upwards up the villa
Agree villamurf, clark was poor last term and I was straight on his back but he was excellent when he came on. Every lad on the pitch seems to have manned up and learnt how to defend, luna did well to keep walcott so quiet too but for me delph was truly excellent. Also on today perfomance I think i'd like to see weimann tried in there behind the striker, we all know he can't cross but he can clearly shoot and his passes in behind the defence were unplayable at times today. Ignore the bitter gooners blaming the ref, we deserved to win today! UTV
Can't judge the team on one game. We beat Liverpool 3-1 last season and then followed it up at the hands of a thrashing from chelski, our next opponent.
On the plus side Clark looked good and I thought KEA played his best game for the club.
Utv
Finch
I think more competion for places can only help also lambert has handed new contracts to some of the youngsters who must be buzzing cus if he don't like ya hit the road jack by the way thanks for the sympathy on my bet so called pals
17 Aug 2013 23:13:47
Wot a performance today. Agbonlahor looks deadly and Bemteke still has his scoring touch. Can't wait for Chelsea hope Okore plays at the back with Vlaar. Top 10 this season. COME ON THE VILLA! UTV
Great result but we still looked "loose" at the back. Need to see Okore alongside Vlaar or 3 across the back. We frequently had a space 50yds wide when Arsenal broke forward. And how the hell did a quality striker get given so much space in the first 5 minutes of a match. Who should have been there? Looking forward to Chelsea, we have a debt to settle!
Said it on another thread on the rumours page, he was given so much room because lowton went forward and when arsenal won the ball he was the wrong side of play, so ron vlaar then decides to run past all 3 of our central midfielders to make a tackle in arsenal's half, which he missed meaning he too was the wrong side of play, baker went over to block the cross and luna was left defending giroud and walcott in the middle
17 Aug 2013 18:39:32
If anyone would of told me Villa would beat Arsenal 3-1 today I'd of asked them what they were on.
But we did it and if we can take 3 points against Liverpool I''ll be well pleased with our first 3 fixtures
COME ON VILLA GOOD TIMES AHEAD
Made me laugh seeing a picture of a arsenal fan with a poster saying spend spend spend when we can do it our way! IN LAMBERT LERNER AND FAULKENR I DO TRUST!!
17 Aug 2013 17:40:41
Top class result today, gabby played especially well!
I agree gabby played great but we do lack in the midfield department no imagination a ( great result ) can't believe Gardner can't make the bench, Luna may have scored, but out of his comfort zone, will get found out,
Totally agree that Luna despite scoring worries me a little! His playing style is very risky reminds me a little of Alan Wright actually.
Finch
Alan wright played in a successful villa team. I've watched Luna in the pre season and was at the emirates, he will progress quickly. If you're worried that's your issue, he is an attacking full back which carries a risk although I always read about baines and he is just as risky tbh
Iv seen a lot of Luna at mallorca last season he was hit an miss for them too. I still think its 50/50 between him and benett so hopefully they will push each other to get better.
17 Aug 2013 17:22:55
Tremendous performance today! Delph was outstanding and the team put in a great shift. i'm SO happy!
Delph for me outstanding deserved man of the match
He was outstanding in many games last season. However he looks as though he is remaining in control of himself.
17 Aug 2013 17:04:58
Great result for villa today, although feel we need another midfielder desperately as their was none on the bench today
Sylla injured, tonev can play cam, bacuna can play anywhere, plus gardner too.
17 Aug 2013 15:28:53
Does anyone see the point of spending 4.5 million on okore and he starts baker and brings on Clark. I thought he was a good buy but obviously no
Just because he didn't start, it doesn't mean he wasn't a good buy
Calm down matey, there's 37 games left yet!
And injuries suspensions plus last season we only had 3 defenders and we kmow how difficult that was and btw great result boys
Okore picked up an injury during pre season and hasn't played a full match since so give him chance to get fit
17 Aug 2013 10:59:43
Hey guys, Danish Chelseafan here in peace. I want to ask you what you think of your Danes, Okore and Helenius?
More importantly mate, what can you tell us about them?
Okore looks quality from the little I have seen but I have never seen Helenius
Helenius scored 14 goals last season, and he made 7 assists. Okore was one of the best defenders in the Danish League.
Helenius has a lethal right leg, and he's good in the air
I believe helenius will beast good as Benzene when he gets on the pitch although I can't see him getting on other than a subs role while bentekes scoring
And Okore looks really good looking forward to seeing him fully fit
Mendax.
Helenius is very good, two good feet and plenty of ability, can scores goals out of nothing, ball control is great for a tall man.
Just needs a run in the side to find his feet and tempo.
As I have said before, I felt he would have been a good replacement for Benteke had he gone.
I have seen him play many times on live streams and has always impressed me.

Anyone fancy dale Stephens? Looking for a move his club willing to let him go lambert apparently already looked at the boy lambert a type of player. Thoughts?
15 Aug 2013 23:07:23
Aiden Mcgeady good fast player-what Lambert wants we were interested in him last summer and with the world cup coming up it THINK it will happen before the end
15 Aug 2013 20:50:32
Sylla is injured for Saturday therefore who will be our holding midfielder Saturday?
Finch
Good question. That's why Parker would be a really good signing for us
Westwood Delph
Weimann Tonev Agbonlahor
Benteke
Mendax is possibly Scott Parker's wife. let us all look into that one.
Well, there was something I had been meaning to tell you all.
Seriously, I think Parker, or more importantly, a player of his ilk would have been perfect for us
Chance seems to have gone now as it appears he is going on loan to QPR
An opportunity missed in my opinion
I'd love us to go for Mo Diame
Mendax
I have too agree mate.
I would not mind a good seasoned C/B someone who could lead from the back.
Like I have said before not to play every game just when things get tough, and I think they will at some point during the season.
A kind of wobble for want of a better word.
villadave
Mo diame is a great shout! As too is sadio mane.
Parker wouldn't leave London, he hated it when he was at Newcastle. So that's why he chose Qpr
15 Aug 2013 12:32:13
Any news on Benteke's suspected broken leg yet? Surely wouldn't be a good idea letting Bent go until there is?!
it was just a joke started by a lad on twitter that a bunch of persons believed
The only bones that Benteke has broken are collar bones if you try and stop him scoring.
15 Aug 2013 03:46:28
Just asking the question but why isn't aston villa trying to flog off bent to a top side that can afford his wages and can also utilise him as a proven back up striker. Similar to the way top teams have great keepers as back up (ie schwarzer to Chelsea)
He wants to play in the world cup so bench warming for a slightly better team than ours is not good for him. He might as well bench warm at V park.
Its not up to Villa mate.
They are just waiting for the phone to ring, it might be Barcelona yet.
"Think about it"

Darren Bent having medical at Fulham, at last I wish him well he did nothing but good for Villa, but the way we play does not fit it. Thanks Darren all the best
15 Aug 2013 09:01:08
There has been a serious twist in the Bent saga. We were all under the impression Fulham had cooled their interest and Palace were in front for his signature on loan. Last night a fee was agreed between Fulham and Aston Villa and when Bent should have been going to Crystal Palace for a medical this morning, he is now going to Fulham to join up with them. Fee reported to be 6mil with add-ons rising to 7mil. Finally a positive confirmation. We can expect a few signings after this deal has been completed.

I think you are all missing a trick here read a lot about tonev I admit not seen much but he is a fast two footed skilful player who had two assists against Malaga did he not? could be not be this magic number 10 we are all looking for?
He was a bit greedy in the Malaga game, perhaps he was trying to impress before the season kicks off.
13 Aug 2013 21:42:54
Aston Villa Fc need to sign 3 more players to challenge the Europa League spots in my opinion. I have heard a rumour Lambert is eyeing up moves for a new CB CDM AND RW-opting to play weimann as the CAM. My preferred options would be
CB-Kouyate
CDM-Will Hughes
RW/LW-Finnabossen
Will Hughes is an attacking midfielder.
13 Aug 2013 13:11:42
I understand there is no cash left in the budget but a £3m move for Boudabouz would be wise to conclude our business.
As deadline day approaches clubs will realise where they are lacking and buy our misfits. let's not sweat on the Bent situation, come deadline day the likes of Palace, Fulham et al will be in desperate need of a goalscorer and £6m will be a no brainer. Hutton, Ireland and Bannan will follow out the door for another 2m ish and the budget will balance.
We have our goal scorers and its now haggling season, clubs view us as being the desperate party to offload, come september 2nd there will be a number of clubs who will be the more desperate.
I take your point and you may be right
My concern is that we are still a little short ourselves and if we are waiting to offload the dross before we make a move, we could be in real bother again by Christmas
I know we all crave an attacking midfielder but I would not be too unhappy to see a decent centre back and a good holding player in the middle
I have mentioned before that I think Parker would be ideal.
Lets not go for Parker please.
One creative midfielder is really all we need, Delph, Sylla, Herd, Clarke and maybe even Westwood can all fill the holding midfielder role.
We can keep a slim squad with young players getting lots of experience and moulding as a team. We need that player that can cut through a defence with intelligence and flair, what we expected NZogbia could provide.
If we get a 7m plus bid for him we should consider it too I think.
I agree, we have the quantity of player to fill the role but not the quality
Clarke and and Herd are nowhere near as good as Parker
I agree on N'Zogbia as well
He doesn't do anywhere near enough for me
So we're sort of agreeing. I think
13 Aug 2013 12:40:28
How about a look at holtby, Spurs have already signed paulinho aswell as recent intrest in erickson. Holtby seems surplus to requirements and could be our missing link
Wages, wages, wages
Won't happen
13 Aug 2013 08:20:01
Where did it all go wrong mr downing first chance and you jumped ship thanks for the money Liverpool looks like you have took a hit on that one
Made me chuckle murf! I think if he chose to stay at villa and get game time he might of been in a better position with progression of his career both with club an country now.
I never really rated him against the likes of Milner an young anyway.
Finch
12 Aug 2013 14:55:13
Why isn't Christian Eriksen being considered? Danish playmaker with only 1 year left. He is willing to leave Ajax and for £12m he could be a great signing.
Look for the answer in the bit where you say "£12M"
It will all become clear pretty quickly
We as a club could submit a bid and match his value, however we cannot match his ambitions of champions league football. So this option is dead in the water.
No way would we get him. He would refuse our contract regardless of the wages that we couldn't probably provide for him in the first place
Couple of reasons really. We have a £20m annual budget of which £13.5m has been spent, and ajax have put a price of £15m on him today. So even if we were to sell bent for £6m which probably won't happen, we still won't have the money, nor will we be able to offer the same wages as other teams interested.
12 Aug 2013 08:39:59
Lambert looking at alternatives to Kiyotake (if he is a target) in the form of Boudebouz, ho is a skillful winge / CAM. he is 23

another day closer to the end of the transfer window and STILL we are no nearer to getting rid of these 6-7 big-time charlie's. any chance at all of selling them? each of them could be here til their contracts expire at this rate which will really hurt us in transfer deals in the future. release them all I say, even given who will be 41 when his contract goes that's ridiculous
Why would someone like Given allow himself to be released when he still has time on his 60k a week contract?
It just won't happen
If nobody is coming in for them when we are desperate to sell it suggests nobody wants them
If that is the case they are going to sit on the contracts that the club awarded them
Bent claims to want a crack at the world cup so I definatly expect him to go. Ireland isn't getting any younger and will want to play more regularly so hopefuly he's going. Given will want first team action given that he's at the twilight of his career so hel still go as for zog who knows with the injury an all that. I think its time villa bit the bullet and lower the asking price i'd take 8-9 mil for all 3 its not fair for anyone that players of their undoubted quality should sit and rot they know that the club know that and so do we. Theyl go before the end of the window probably the last day when everyone just wants a deal done.
Naturalvillan
All the other clubs know we want rid so will leave it until the death before putting in a bid to get a rock bottom deal unfortunately. Then forcing our hands to accept or keep them on the books. Also I think (Ed to clarify this) Championship and lower clubs get extra time after the window for loan deals so they have no need to rush themselves if we don't sell them. {Ed001's Note - that was an emergency loan window, which I believe is no longer in existence.}
I hope N'Zogbia stays, I think he still has something to offer
10 Aug 2013 20:37:18
Watched troy deeny today and thought he was fantastic. Anyone think he would be a good signing although we have a few strikers? Just wondering
No
Sorry mate, not this time.

10 Aug 2013 03:04:51
Does any one else think gareth barry would be a good signing to help our younger players also our defence! I know people will dissagree but he's still a villa legend!
In terms of football ability I could certainly see the merit of Barry sitting in front of our back four, giving them extra cover and picking up the ball and moving forward with it. In financial terrms I don't think it could possibly happen unless Barry himself really wanted the move and was happy to take a significant pay cut
I would welcome him back with open arms, he's a good pro and was a great servant to villa. If he took a significant pay cut to come back then he would be a folk law hero.
Finch
Byrdy.
I think if we go for a player like Barry with his wealth of experience fine, but only to play a BIT part when needed, otherwise it would mean disrupting the young team we are developing.
We got through last season, and what a learning curve that was, so let's see how we do during the first half of this season.
This type of player like Barry would not go for that, they would want to play all the time, and then who would you drop?
villadave
I think Barry would be a great player to bring on in the second half and keep heads calm to see out a result
09 Aug 2013 13:08:50
Owen Coyle on James McClean's reported pay cut upon joining Wigan
"That was fantastic to see in a young man. All too often in football, finance is the motivation for some players. It is great to have someone at your football club who is prepared to take a step back because he believes it will eventually lead to making two forward. "
Take note Barry, Alan et al!
(although they are both useless so would probably fall over taking two steps forward!)
09 Aug 2013 13:00:38
I love the feeling I have today! takes me back to being a kid again. very excited about the 1st trip of the season to Villa Park tomorrow! Cannot wait!
09 Aug 2013 07:31:29
I think Paul Lambert should consider buying Defoe and Kiyotake, then our attack would be solid, Benteke Defoe Helenuis Weimann Agbonlahor Tonev Kiyotake ( 7 to choose from for 4 spaces, injuries and suspensions) to shore il the defence someone solid like kouyouta. A new GK aswell I recommend Pantilomon or Lindergaard
I think you have been spending too much time on FIFA. Come back to earth!
Defoe would be another overpaid bench warmer. We still have enough of those as clearly Bent, Ireland, Hutton, Bannan & Given are all greedy, greedy B*%~#!DS!
We do not need another!
08 Aug 2013 17:27:08
Do any of us think that Gabby could/should be encouraged to play a bit like Bale? He has pace and a good shot but he seems to fail when he takes on defenders. Sometimes he runs wide and then puts in a cross, then another time he will run at the defender and lose the ball. Personally I think that he added a few pounds a couple of seasons back when he was injured and then lost a bit of pace and this was when he started going wide to avoid the defender. Remember this is only an opinion. However what do you think?
Youve answered your own question there mate bale runs at defenders and does them and as you say gabby loses it. Were best off utilizing his pace in matches when we will need the counter attacking pace I can see a lot of rotation for places this season as we finally have the strength in depth to do it. Bale is a complete forward but I don't think gabby has got that sort of game in his locker.
Naturalvillan
I think Gabby could have his best season for Villa this year, if avoiding injury.
With the competition we now have for places he will know he will have to perform.
He has become a bit more of a threat in front of goal but he tends to play a bit too wide for me, that means taking people on, not his best asset.
I think gabby would be better played in a more central roll, but will our system allow that!
He could find himself rested a few times this season if he is not at his best, Tonev will push him for sure.
villadave
I think Gabby will slowly phase out of the starting 11. Players like tonev and bacuna are going to show their potential and I doubt wiemann or benteke will drop. If anyone in the starting attack will lose their place I am afraid it will be gabby unless he shows more intent like he did against norwich last year.
Mr. T
Disagree Dave. If you look at the previous roles bes played within the team a central role is possibly the worst position on record he's played. He looks dangerous as a winger and his goals to game ratio in this position beats the likes of Walcott and Chamberlain who are in the England team. FACT!
Finch
I think a consideration should be made to using Gabby just behind Andy W and Bentekkers in a Bale role. Gabby has the speed to join up in an attacking situation with an eye for goal and he is able to get back when needed and with Sylla just behind we will have a strong spine of the team.
V70LLA
Finch
If you look back to his days when breaking through he was a centre forward for the reserves, and at that point when asked his prefered position, he said centre forward.
But as I have said our system would probably not allow that, and yes he is dangerous out wide if he is through
but beating his man I am not sure.
My post also said I think he could have his best season so far for Villa.
villadave
As some have stated Gabby was our record scorer in the reserves etc playing through the middle. For the last few seasons he has been given a different role. I put the original post about Gabby and still feel that he should be used down the middle where if encouraged he could do a similar job to Bale. Bale goes past players with pace, he is not a player that dribbles past an opponent. Last season Gabby actually found the net with some sharp shots and this is where he seems to have missed out over the last few seasons. C'mon Gabby, show us the real player that you are. Light the afterburners and show the rest of the prem what you have got.
Would anyone argue last season was gabbys best season? I certainly would, the role outside on the wing suits his game much more than playing through the middle as their is more space to run into which allows him to use his best weapon, pace. It also draws more attention from defenders which results in bentekkers finding more space too. Completely agree taking on defenders isn't his strength but shooting isn't either and therefore I think Lamberts found his most effective position, his stats don't lie and personally I think he deserves an England call up.
Finch
As for someone playing in the hole I, from what iv seen this could suit bacuna, tonev or helenius.
Sorry but bale is not the complete forward, he is a centeral attacking midfielder hence most his goals coming from outside the penalty area. In comparison Benteke is more of a complete forward, 2 strong feet, and a solid header.
07 Aug 2013 23:37:05
Arsenal 3-2. Villa win. Maybe over positive but I believe we will get a good result, it's the following matches that I think we will struggle with, such a hard start for us. But to be fair everyone has to play each other twice so no excuses.
I'd be happy with a draw
07 Aug 2013 22:23:27
Hi ed do you think villa will dip into the transfer market again before the window shuts with what pl said at the forum it sounds like he will be buying a few more players {Ed001's Note - I expect so.}
07 Aug 2013 20:47:56
No more signings this window as lambert is happy with what he's got
Kingvilla
So no rodwell? Thought as much
Come on KingVilla
Who do you really support?
Blues, Albion?
No no rodwel. I or my source was wrong. Does every deal you here of cone off.!
King Villa. Why oh why do you do it?
Are you on a sponsored "make yourself look ridiculous" campaign?
Mendax I take it you don't like kingvilla then not allowing him an opinion and all especially as that is why we come on here to give opinions. if you don't like his opinion surely just disagree with him and give your own opinion as to why you disagree not slag the guy/gal off
dave
Dave
No one is slagging anybody off, I agree with Mendax.
Kingvilla makes a statement one day and says completely the opposite the next day, and now he is saying NO more signings, make of that what you will.
villadave
Na mendax is right lads when you quote "people can eat there words" and then the inevitable happens and it turns out you have infact made yourself a buffet of bs to swallow you deserve to get some stick if you had said I have heard rather than making out its the truth, that's what makes it rumour and worthy of a decent opinion. so do you want some sauce with your cra*?
Naturalvillan
In fighting I love it no wonder the team struggles when you guys call each other like this you should try a little comradmanship and get along unless of course your still at school.
derbyshire dave
The bloke from Derby.
We are not fighting mate, we have identified someone who persists in posting rubbish.
If my neighbours have a difference of opinion I keep my nose out.
I suggest you do the same, you have enough problems of your own.
villadave
Dave,
I would never say I dislike Kingvilla. I don't know the guy. He could be a wonderful fella. I also don't need lecturing about respecting other peoples opinions. If you noticed any of my other posts (not that there is any reason you should) I think you would find that I am more than happy to cede to someone elses point of view if it is well argued and well put
What I do dislike is people timewasting. That said, if KingVilla genuinely, 100 % believed that what he was saying was true I would apologise to him without hesitation if he was annoyed/upset by anything I have said in response to his posts
I would however ask him to consider what he is posting, the quantity he is posting and the way he expresses himself as I don't think, that based on the number of people who seem as irked as I do, that he is doing himself any favours
As for Derbyshire Dave, there is a difference between an argument and a row
We are having a conversation on line that would not be described as "in fighting" were it to be in a pub or restaurant after a game
Not as many as you hutton bannan to name two dragging a half decent wage and never looking like getting first team football. priced out of your attempt for a big signing (punching above weight) with that attempt I think and then the parasite benteskey who if ( and I doubt) was to do ok will be off as well as he has ambition and you do not. as for my club yes we have issues but my club is not derby county bless them
derbyshire dave
To mendex, as you say not physically fighting "obviously" you are on line. but if in a pub you spoke the way you made you message sound you may be asked to leave for aggressive behaviour as it does sound like you are rather angry and if I was to imagine you saying that to kingvilla in a pub I would imagine your voice to be raised and you to have an aggressive and argumentative stance. that's all
much love
derbyshire dave
Derbyshire dave, the blue nose on a wind up to hide his jealousy that our club will never fall out of the premier league and are on the up and improving every game.
Derbyshire Dave
You would be wrong
It is possible to express yourself in a friendly manner yet still have a strong viewpoint
Appreciate the love though
Assumptions again ethavfc. I support a prem team far superior to yours but who I support is not relevant we are talking about hutton etc and the other mercenaries in your team. Also the way you attack other people for having an opinion. no mate no jealousy from me far far from it I am looking forward to challenging for silverware especially with our new signings where as your young inexperienced team may struggle again and the truth be known benteskey is not an unknown anymore so will struggle with the defences. but hey I could be wrong we wil;l see. whatever happens you would do better without in the in house arguments or without calling one of your own
dave
Well either way I don't care, why do you seem to think us villa fans (who more often than not have each others back) occasionally disagreeing with each other will make a difference to our performances on the pitch. Also I can't think of a team from any where near the midlands that are far superior to us, therefor you must be a glory hunter who spends half his weekends driving up and down the m6 going to home games, unless of course you're one of the ones that only goes to your teams games when they play somebody local. Whoever or whatever you are, sod of onto your own page and stop worrying about us.
Darbyshire Dave
I'm failing to see what value you bring to this conversation. If we really take a look at what you are rambling about here and strip it back to the bones, you are stating that we Villa fans are fighting and that we have mercenaries at the club.
Firstly, this is an opinion based site and you are entitled to yours, just like king villa is.
However, when you fail to give any credence nor reason to your views, this is when you will be called out.
This has happened time and time again, so king villa will be lambasted for his random wish lists and time wasting.
Funny how he doesn't bite back. isn't it?
Secondly, every club in the world has players that are overpaid and over valued. In an extremely short amount of time, Paul Lambert has transformed Villa from player personnel to the over all winning attitude.
Villa had been set back years by Mc Leish and to think that his reign at our club is a nothing more than a blotch on our record speaks volumes to the job Lambert has done.
It will take time to get the deadwood out, noones doubting that here at AVFC.
So again, what is your point in raising this?
Btw, I would question what kinds of pubs you hang out in. Sounds more like a cricket club or a yacht club to me buddy.
Leroy
Is everybody called dave on this website?!
finch
Finchy.
Only villadave. I am a real "Dave"
Leroy.
having stripped my point to the bones you correctly indicate that I have called out the villa backbiters. deadwood, yes we all have them I was merely suggesting that your deadwood are so dead that they will hang around and keep taking a pay check rather than go and play in the lower divisions for less money (although this may happen with villa). As for lamberts transformation, fighting a relegation battle as you did last year is hardly what most clubs would have wanted transforming into maybe these are the heights you are happy chasing. And as for your last point I don't hang about in cricket clubs etc but neither do I hang around in deluges where the saloon bar scenario takes over and people are shouting and rawping at each other. I appreciate you support villa but surely you cannot class the transitional process so far as successful, if so what happens when you don't have such a successful season, championship football where some of your deadwood players belong. anyway I didn't intend to be antagognistic I originally just wondered why when someone had an opinion on an opinion page why he would be called out by fellow fans in such a fashion as he was when you all share a common ground that being avfc. simple really

Im spartacus

I was refering to you leroy, villadave this is where I think you go wrong I am conversing with my opinions its not a win or lose situation its someone voicing there opinion/banter on a banter site. my opinion will always be right to me unless someone convinces me different. that hasn't happened and hutton etc are still drawing a decent wage and still will be after the close of the window. that is my opinion
derbyshire dave
Derbydave.
Yes I know what you are saying, and the very reason I said what I said, is you will not convince us you are correct.
Those are your words.
Who do you support then, you say they are a better side than us!
TELL US THEN, and let's see if we agree with you.
villadave
Villadave it isn't an opinion about hutton etc enjoying a wage at a cost to your club it is a fact and they have proved they are happy to kick a ball abput all week with no ambition as they have turned down opportuities to leave for first team football as they would rather the higher wage than ambition which is how we got into this debate this is a fact unless they left last night so not agreeing with a fact is your choice even if is as blatant as it is. I think you are free to think what you like so you don't have to agree with any facts. As for the team I support what relevance dors it have on the above conversation suffice to say for the last ten years or more they have finished well above you ergo they are a superior team
Dave
Derbydave.
Yes correct about Hutton etc, I stated all of what you say three weeks ago so we agree on that.
The team you support would be nice to know so that discussions can continue, but if you don't want to say who they are fine, that's all I will say.
Hope you have a good season
villadave
Villadave you will hate me even more than you do now if I were to reveal the team I support so I say to you good banter thank you, and I wish your project all the best. I think it will come into fruition it is only a quation of when
dave
coys
Derbydave
I don't hate you, you have an opinion and that's how it should be, you make some good points.
I think we will have a good season this year maybe top 10, and if the management and playing staff are left to get on with their job we will improve again next year, PROMISE.
I have enjoyed the banter as well, I am sure something else will crop up and we will hear from you again, hope so anyway?
Still like to know who it is though, go on give us a clue.
villadave
I'm going to go out on a limb and say coys means come on you spurs. what do you think villa Dave?
Lmao
Derbydave.
Well I am surprised to say the least, you support a team with a great tradition like Villa.
I have seen some great games between the two clubs over the years dating back to 1960.
Chivers, Gilzean, etc Spuds have had some great sides.
I still wish you all the best for the coming season, and its been great talking to you.
As far as I am concerned your opinion is welcome on this site anytime.
villadave
Touche villadave I do like to banter and debate it is always interesting to get other fans perceptions on issues especially about your own club. I can only apologise about selling hutton to you guys (not me personally) but I thought he had an ok game last night his main problem isn't going forward its defending which isn't veruy good when your a number 2 for a team. Good luck with the season I truly don't think you will have any issues like last year as I think the young lads you blooded last year will come good. you have a great manager with a good eye for the game in benteke you potentially have a true star who in the near future could earn you a lot of money in one way or another. not that your a selling club (as proven over benteke) but unfortunately when the big boys come knocking we all lose our best players (modric, bale etc) but if the chairman re-invests it eases the pain. hope for a couple of decent games against you and make sure you win your first game (arsenal)
speak soon buddy by for now
derbyshire dave
Derbydave.
Thanks for that, you take care as well mate.
Speak soon.

I'm going for 2-2.

I think we will hit the ground running and win 2 - 1 tekkers and wiemann!
Opps got it wrong it was 3 1 and tekkers and luna come on you villa boyssssss

Anyone else concerned that our defence might be leaky again this season?
Id like to see another CB brought in preferably someone like the belgian lad who plays for ajax Toby Alderweireld. Apparently the fee for him would be around 5-7m with stoke, norwich, liverpool and everton reportedly interested.
Not a rumour just someone who I think we should pursue.
Finch.
Or genks Mbodj is another good shout {Ed030's Note - Or Kanu possibly for Leige,Similair to Dante. }
I have to second the Mbodj possibility. although I have not heard his name mentioned around VP, I do believe he is exactly what we should be looking for. He is versatile playing CB, CDM and CM also so would be perfect. We'll see!

I know everyone is getting excited about talk of a young attacking midfield player coming in from the continent. But surely I cannot be the only person to believe that someone like Scott Parker would really help this young team navigate a competive Premiership season
We are ignoring the elephant in the room here in that Lambert has added pure youth to an already youthful team
It would be great to think that it will all end perfectly for us but personally, I would take out an insurance policy
I couldn't agree with this more mate, he is exactly what we need along with an AM. He would be a perfect role model for Westwood, Delph & Sylla as he's a great DM aswell as a model professional. However, apart from Newcastle (where he was a bit of a let down) he has played all his football in London, apparently we made enquiries under O'Neill and that was the stumbling block.
Dont know if I agree with that one mendax the whole point is to get everyone on a level playing field wages wise. It keeps the hunger going and if you perform you get more (benteke weimann etc). and parker probably wouldn't come for less than 40 grand a week he's hardly a superstar for the players to look up to. Though he is solid we have a lot of pace in the side now with some hard hitting midfielders mixed in. Young players means fresh ideas and a lot have already proved that experience counts for nothing if you can play you can play. Personally i'm happy with the squad as it is maybe kiyotake in to give the forwards some bread and bitter.
Naturalvillan
I can see your point Naturalvillain
I just feel we could do with an older head when it gets a bit difficult away at Chelsea, Man United etc
Parker always comes across well off the pitch as well
I think he only has a year left on his contract at Spurs so I think we could get him for less than the 40k a week you quote by offering the right package (ie 2-3 years with the option of a coaching role)
Parker just seems like the kind of guy, in terms of ability and attitude that, I would want around young players
Naturalvillan & Mendax.
This brings it all home now.
Here we are talking about experienced players like Parker etc to stabilise our young team in their hour of need.
And yet we had one of the best, our beloved man "STAN" what a shame he will not play again.
He would of been great in this squad, the young with pace and energy, and Stan the brains and know how.
villadave
Yep, I'd go along with that Dave. Parker and Petrov are cut from similar cloth
I think parker and wijnuldum would complete our squad nicley once the likes of bent ireland given hutton delfonso bannan stevens are moved on.
I agree brains is always a good factor to have and perhaps we do still need a leader out there but i'm still pleased with how were doing things and I believe that we have a lot of goals in the team for this season with okore looking briefly solid at the back and the bearded tony moon we may have the goods to stop the goals at the wrong end. We have no real issue in midfield westy can pass like gerrard, sylla an delph could tackle a lion and with gardner looking like he's been playin for 20 years and stayin off the med table we could be quite tight. were only short a real playmaker no?
Naturalvillan
I agree with mendax Parker would be a great player he is underrated by many but he would give the young lads the advice they need as he has been around the block abit and would be able to tell them the grass isent greener at the bigger clubs from his chelsea days. I have seen a link for Omar Abdulrahman as well that would be a great bit of business by pl if he could pull that off but I believe Arsenal are trying to get him on a trial at the mo.

I agree - I read this site for the good and the bad rumours. For me it's all good banter around supporting a football team. It's just a bit of fun, nobody is getting paid to get it right, nobody dies if they're wrong and allow the nobodies among us to judge for ourselves that some Are just plain ridiculous. Rowell to Villa - my arse!
05 Aug 2013 23:14:22
Once the dead wood has gone why don't the Villa sign Tom Ince from Blackpool. he fits the bill perfectly. young, hungry and English. I'm sure he would cost less than Jack Rodwell (sic) and also he has a good goals to game ratio which we need from midfield.

For me finch
Kiyotake, looks really exciting and would add that missing ingredient. Wijnaldum also looks like a good punt. But as I have stated before would like to see some more experience bought in (someone disagreed stating the team now had experience) my point was someone the young players can learn from in training more than the pitch.
Yea kiyotake looks quite some player. For a few weeks iv been thinking we need an attacking midfielder but then am quite excited to see what tonev and bacuna will bring.
I'd like to see a more defensive engine room in midfield such as fofana from Lyon but either way think we'll be a much better team this season with the likes of baker, Westwood, weiman and lowton getting better an better as they continue to develop.
Just can't wait till the big kick off now!

I really really want to believe the rumours entered on this site, but, as others have posted on here, we need some semblence of truth behind them. Anybody can put on here that so-and so is signing and yes it raises the excitement level. However could someone, anyone, get a real rumour!
05 Aug 2013 14:57:39
I posted a couple of weeks ago that the negativity amongst a portion of villa fans is tiring. I am now writing in regard to posts lambasting villa rumours posted. Why are people getting so angry at rumours posted, isn't that what the site is about RUMOURS. It is the reason I visit, to get excited at the idea and the following discussions about what and what will not make a good signing. God knows we need some news however far fetched because the national (london bias) press are not interested. If you don't like it, go and read the broadsheets.
( in addition I am not against lighthearted banter re each others posts, just don't get so irate)
Paulmcrathmylord (good name sir)
I do agree however I'd also suggest everyone has a right to their own opinions too. One thing I don't get is that people post rumours of players they'd like to sign and a fictionalised story gets told to with it, ie the players friends with their mate Dave who works in the ticket office etc etc etc.
So question is who would you sign mate? :)

Hey guys, Sunderland fan here. Its time to do our fantasy sides again and was wantin some advice on your new guy tonev, will he get much game time you think? P. s if you want a tip sessegnon will be back this season. P. s good luck for the season, I hope both our teams are more successful than last year.
Serious answer here mate. Tonev is a great little player and there is no doubt he will do well in this current Villa squad and in the Premier League, however I cannot see him starting all the games and I think PL will use Tonev for more attacking tactical games. To have him in your fantasy football team every week I think you'd be loosing out on others who would play more, but I may be wrong. Just my opinion and I know what I'm talking about. Good luck to yourselves as well. See you when you visit Villa Park.
AVFC89
Best of luck to you as well mate.
Can`t help too much with Tonev, have not seen him play, I have watched youtube clips but as you know they only show what you want too see.
I must say he looks good and has two great feet.
Game time is a bit iffy with Gabby and Weiman.
Unless Paul Lambert tries Tonev in midfield as an AMP?
Best of luck
villadave
Hi lm86. Probably not a good idea to put tonev in for the first few weeks as nobody really knows how he'll turn out and he has hardly played in pre season due to injury. My best advice is to put benteke weimann or gabby in your team as we aren't shy in front of goal as you guys found out (that was di canio's fault not sunderlands). I'd stear well clear of any defenders as we are poor at the back, and although guzan is a good keeper we will concede a lot as we're still naive at the back. The only defender i'd stick in the team is lowton due to his assists. I'd also try to keep away from westwood and sylla, because while they are very good players who do make a difference, they won't score many, and might not get many assists. Just another tip, for gameweek 1 and 2 i'd put as many chelsea and villa players in as possible as we play each other mid week of the first week so we will have a game more than everybody else just remember to take them out for gameweek 3 as neither team are playing then.
Thanks for your answers, I think i'm going to have a punt on him because at 5 mill he is a snip, again good look with the season, f##k the blues haha
04 Aug 2013 18:10:01
Celtic fan here, just wondering how you think you will get on this season under Lamborghini. Benteke staying is brilliant work but weren't there a number of fans who questioned lambert when he signed him last year? Seems to have a good scouting network for you.
I personally haven't questioned any of lamberts signings, our scouts are finding players that cost us pennies in comparison to what we'd have to pay for the same quality of players from the prem. its a working progress so i'm not expecting huge jumps up the league, but one thing is for certain we will go forward rather than backward, and will no doubt continue to do so until we are back where we belong. I'd say good luck for the coming season but that's just pointless as you're clearly going to win now that rangers aren't anywhere near the league. But none the less all the best in all competitions!
04 Aug 2013 10:49:19
Are Grealish and Burke actually going to get used this season? I can see them playing in cup games but wouldn't it be better if we loaned them out for the season. I think due to Gardners and El Ahmadi's good pre-season they will be contenders for a starting position on the first day. But can we leave the every reliable Westwood and Delph out?
Opinions?
UTV
Gardner should play but not rushed, he is the most gifted player we have, if not injured would be mention in the same league as jack wilshere jk
03 Aug 2013 16:50:04
this isn't a rumour more of a shout-out
well done watford for showing bcfc just how bad they are this afternoon.
awful showing from the blues and they will be looking at relegation this season
i love blues losing nearly as much as villa winning. great start to the season
bring on arsenal we will win 3-2
Be careful mate. You don't want to tip over to the point where you want your hatred rivals to lose more than you want to win
That, surely, is the preserve of the Bluenose?
02 Aug 2013 16:41:57
I would like to see us try and sign Clint Dempsey again seen as he is now keen on a move away from White Hart Lane
Err no he said no the first time why should we give him a second chance he was rubbish last season when he got a game or was a sub **** him of back to the states
Overrated player who had one very good season, after years of nothing special, and was suddenly lauded as a worldbeater
Apparantly Dempsey has gone to Seattle.
Mendax. Are you talking about Dempsey or Benteke?
02 Aug 2013 13:09:01
So where is this Jack Rodwell news or was it all rubbish.
I think you've answered your own question there mate
01 Aug 2013 22:09:18
it's Wijnaldum he is the one we all want, PL spent £12mill he has £20mill, so why do some fans doubt we can,
Yes he the one I want too!

bents wages will be a major stumbling block thou got to laugh at newcastles offer 2 mill cheapskates
I have a sneaky suspicion that most of the bomb squad are playing our club like a fiddle.
They are making things difficult for the buying club knowing that at Villa park their wages are guaranteed whether they are playing with the youth or their fat arses are warming the bench.
Bent is maybe the exception to the rule here, but Bannan, Ireland, Hutton, etc, etc should look in the mirror and man up, get their heads together and move on.
I don`t like harping on about things but these guys are taking the P--s.
Football is a business and should be run like a business, if you or I don`t perform we are sacked, and its about time this should be implemented into the game of football.
villadave
It is all about contracts. When they want players stick to the contract that they signed, so they are not taking the p as you so state. When they want to break a contract they get their agent to look elsewhere. UNfortunately they can all stay and take the money, as a lot of workers do when protected by law. I personally would like to see them gone quickly, but unless we give them a "free" so that another club can do their own deals, they will stay put and take the money.
Sorry mate.
I still think they are taking the P--s
And I know its all about contracts, as I have stated in many posts.
I think my feelings about contracts are well known on this site.

Anyone else find it amusing that Spurs just spent 26million on Roberto Soldado today, when Levy was interested in Benteke they scoffed at the 25mil.
Surely Benteke is a more valuable (and versatile) player than Soldado.
Leroy
Leroy.
Makes no difference does it really, that's up to Levy he`s the mug.
I would rather forget about the whole thing now mate.
villadave
I believe it was media hype and bentekes agent advisingbhis client so the 40k a week deal turnedninto 60k a week
Soldado is 28 years old also.
Dave, this is why I find it interesting, as it most likely means that Benteke was actually the party that was pushing for the wages. it's funny that Spurs were the ones "used" in the situation.
I'm glad we have the lad all the same, but he is a mercenary that cannot be doubted now.
Lets hope Grealish, Burke, Drennan etc turn out like Gabby. talented players who love the Villa and are loyal to the cause regardless.
Leroy
Well grealish is the one player out of the 3 I'm tipping to break into the 1st team, he's a villa boy through an through so could be another one club man which is a rarity nowadays! Utv

Geroginio Wijnaldum is holding talks with Avfc over a possible 8-12m move. He is perfect for both Lamberts philosophy and also has experience. All round player.
Thats a fairly rough estimate of the fee. you sure this isn't just reverberating other rumours and slapping on the amount?
Leroy
01 Aug 2013 00:42:54
Fulham are definate favourites to sign bent as newcastles offer was only around £2 million. Hopefully if Fulham sign bent we would have enough for 1 marquee signing if required
Im thinking any fee we get for Bent some of it will be used to pay him off due to the shortfall in wages where ever he goes. But at least he will be off the books! Uncle Randy will have to use his cheque book if we want another marquee signing.
31 Jul 2013 23:55:13
Just a suggestion for a fairly unknown AM is florent cuvellier from stoke. He's young hungry got great potential and would cost not a mega amount say 2-4 mill if stoke play hard ball. He has been on loan at Walsall and championship club last season I think. Check him out on YouTube. No haters please just a suggestion like the Dutch guy.
Tall villan 92
Fair play mate. Havnt seen or heard much or anything about him to be honest.
Im not of the habit of rating players using youtube, but what kind of game does he possess?
If he has a pass on him, can take a pop at goal and has a good engine its a start.

He has both abilities you listed, used to watch him on the football league show due to my partners dad and my grandad r. i. p being saddlers. He was a cracking player when he was on loan at walsall. Quality in Manchester United tht season.
