I'm here thinking (deeaming), if I had a choice champions league next season or win conference this season what would I choose
We have tough games coming up and they are all cup finals now, with the injuries and suspensions we have, should we rest players in the league and win the conference?

Or should we rest players on the conference and really cement that 4th place
When ollie went off on Thursday night my heart just dropped to my toes,
Personally I'd push for champions league we have been 3rd-4th best team this season if we can get champions league this season and get it on a regular basis our mighty clubs changes big time

Just had a look a the league table, how the bit of blip during the Xmas period has cost us the draw with Sheffield and the 2 loses to a very average united we should have been seating pretty on top of the league, The injury to torres did really cost us, with united playing City next weekend and we have Luton it should be back to a 11pts gap we have spurs City arsenal coming up I feel if we can pick up 4 it's from them we should have enough to get over the line the remaining fixtures are very much winnable,

Paul, agree mate, however the blip was inevitable, especially because of injuries. I still think our final position in top4/5 is in our own hands. My worry is the number of goals we are concededing and the manner of these goals.Sloppy defending, poor judgement and teams are getting through the high line more lately as coaches have worked out how to beat it. In Emery we trust and non of us expected this progress so early in the project and with quality recruitment the future definitely looks bright irrespective if we fail to make the champions league.Europa league could well be the right stepping stone for next season and I think we could be in trouble like Newcastle if we run before we can walk with the quality in the champions league.

PS I accept the champions league brings in loads of cash and I'm sure the owners would welcome this, however my position remains.

Whilst I admit we have conceded a few shabby goals recently if you look at the stats only 4 teams have conceded fewer goals than us, those are the three teams that sit above us plus rather bizarrely Everton! In terms of goals scored again only the 3 teams that sit above us have scored more add to that the entertainment value is better than it has been for years all in all I think we have little to be concerned about.

I kind of get what you're saying there scotcafu, but I don't quite follow the logic of how europa league would be preferable to champions league next year.
Long way to go before we achieve either right now, but next year Newcastle/Chelsea could be contenders for top 6 and Utd will be a stronger force, so we need to take these opportunities where we can.and boost our revenue too.

DBS, just look what happened to Newcastle, their morale went to rock bottom after early elimination from the champions league. Europa conference to the Europa is a natural progression, it certainly makes sense to me

The difference between ourselves and Newcastle is that we have an elite level coach, they have an up and coming one. I have a degree of sympathy with the view that our development might benefit from being in the Europa League might rather than immediately ending up in the Champions League but if we do end up there I have every confidence that we will do better than Newcastle

7.) 27 Feb 2024 18:35:56
Newcastle did get a heck of a group to be fair. how times have changed though, here we are debating which European competition we will be in, the last few years we have only being wishing that we could get even the least prestigious one, few years before that all we wanted was promotion to the Premier League, it’s being a heck of a ride the last 5 or 6 years, let’s hope it’s just the start, UTV ?

8.) 27 Feb 2024 18:52:03
Long may it continue, most of my close friends are blues fans and do I milk it.

9.) 27 Feb 2024 23:35:12
Using Newcastle as an example is reasonable to a point, but I think there fans would say this seasons slump is just as likely a result of some terrible luck with injuries and if you asked them to trade a backward step this season (though likely only short lived with their likely trajectory) with champions league nights and the chance to compete at the highest level, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't trade that experience. It's far from given that we'll get a chance like this again, so as far as this hypothetical choice goes, champions league qualification would be a no brainer as a preference for me. Each to their own though.

Made hard work of that, our starting 11 are a top 6 side, but after them we are a bottom six side, if we are still in Europe come January we need some serious upgrades,

With the amount of games we have coming up, and we are shy in the forward line what about martial he is looking for a way out of united

Stick ollie in that arsenal, Liverpool, City team and he would 25-30 goals a season simple reason he would have better ball coming to him,

Have to agree with BK cash is a decant right back, he gets little or no help from Bailey, if mcginn had of played on the right side of midfield on Saturday like he was last season cash would have got a lot more protection, ie look back at there second goal from the free cash had 2 men to mark on the outside of the box 1 blocked him from getting back, Bailey is the biggest problem at the moment
