I'm reading that the Yannick Bolasie deal is to include an option to buy of around 15 million.

1.) 23 Aug 2018 17:00:30
Where are you reading that?

2.) 24 Aug 2018 01:55:48
Read it on HITC.com DJC1983, sorry for the late reply I have had a long day/ night.

3.) 24 Aug 2018 16:47:40
Cheers for the update AVillaFan.

Trouble is with sites like HITC, they take a story from literally any 'source' (Some opinion pole in Australia or talksport for example) and then rehash it into an article. Just click bait really.
Would have thought any loan to buy deal for a player like Bolasie would have plenty of clauses in. including us getting promoted, him playing X% of games and us being covered for recurring injury. Probably why the whole thing is taking so long.

23 Aug 2018 02:31:46
Hoping that later today the Yannick Bolasie deal becomes official along with at least some progress on Tammy Abraham deal. Hopefully Bruce can get a couple more before the deadline then we will be a strong outfit for sure.

UTV.

1.) 23 Aug 2018 08:22:30
I will be hoping for some defensive additions if I'm honest,
I will be very happy if we bring in a l/ back and c/ back.
Can't complain about the attacking additions that's for sure.

2.) 23 Aug 2018 11:44:29
I would prefer a LB and a CB over Tammy Abraham - Kodjia looks like he is back to his best so would he start ahead of him, I can't see it.

We are short up front at the moment but I believe El Ghazi has played in the central striker role before and surely Hogan and Davies can't be that far off from full fitness.

I'd much prefer us sign Matt Targett and a CB.

Do we all think the signing of Bolaise and El Ghazi will resolve our defensive issues in an odd way? Surely Elmo / Hutton will revert to RB, Axel to CB with Chester and fingers crossed Targett at LB?

3.) 23 Aug 2018 12:29:57
Absolutely, a LB and CB are required at this stage. To get Tammy Abraham as well would be greedy wouldn't it?

4.) 23 Aug 2018 13:55:58
I don't think we need a new LB as Hutton is great there. Elmo can revert to right back and Axel needs to move to the centre. Another reliable centre back is needed though.

5.) 23 Aug 2018 16:00:04
Kodjia does appear to be getting back to his best I must agree, but Abraham or another quality striker is essential also, given the injury problems we have. We don't want to become a one trick pony.

6.) 23 Aug 2018 16:29:03
We bossed much of the game last night and if we were a bit more cut throat up front then this game would of been well out of reach for Brenford long before their second goal.

7.) 23 Aug 2018 16:29:34
Also, and this would apply to bolaise, isn’t the. African cup of nations this year? So we may lose Kodja, Elmo during some of dec (not forgetting Kodja breaking his ankle again)

8.) 23 Aug 2018 17:03:58
Assuming we get Bolasie, I think I'm right in saying we can only sign one more loan player as the limit is five. So it'll be either a striker OR a defender, not both - assuming we don't get a free permanent transfer that is.

9.) 23 Aug 2018 17:53:26
Has anybody signed Huth, I can't believe nobody has snapped him up on a one year contract - Its not the approach the club want to take but may be worth a gamble before the window shuts.

10.) 24 Aug 2018 01:51:51
I think you can sign 8 loan players DJC1983 but only select 5 including subs for any one match.

22 Aug 2018 16:23:25
What do you people make of this I just read on twitter.

30m pumped into #avfc via Recon Group Ltd and companies House
?

which strangely actually looks like Β£103 million.

1.) 22 Aug 2018 18:07:29
Bit of a strange question mate, think you'd need to post more info to get any meaningful response. Companies House info is largely open to the public and I couldn't see anything like what you've mentioned - also, not sure what you mean by Β£30m looking like Β£103m?
With Villa clearly able to compete again on transfers and wages, this would suggest the owners are confident they can comply with ffp which would presumably mean increasing turnover and probably mean 'getting creative' with sponsorship like the big boys, so there might be something in this - just a bit of a vague post that's difficult to respond to mate.

2.) 22 Aug 2018 18:33:08
DCJ1983,
Its not really my field that is why it is vague, I was just going on what I read on twitter. It referred to Recon Group Companies House and stated 30 million pumped into Villa, yet the only figure I could see mentioned was 103 million. I don't claim to understand any of it that is why I was asking it's meaning.

3.) 22 Aug 2018 22:48:36
30 million is what the new guys paid recon for the 55 percent. That's been put into the club to help with ffp.

4.) 22 Aug 2018 23:03:57
AVillaFan,

Wasn't a pop mate, just not much to go on. so whoever tweeted that wasn't much use.
On the plus side, Kodjia back and two new wingers in. Should've won tonight and nice to see us dominate a game. we'd have lost that 12 months ago. Still unbeaten and hopefully a bit more of a sting in attack now to kill off games.
Utv.

5.) 23 Aug 2018 02:23:14
DJC1983,

I didn't take it that way but i appreciate the explanation. I was just trying to make some sense out of how we have kept our players, signed a couple and loaned a few with FFP hanging over us, the post on twitter didn't make much sense so I was hoping someone had a bit more info (thanks Kingy for your input) . I would like to know how we sit for the January window should we require strengthening.

In regards to the match, I too thought that we were on top for much of the game, we faded towards the end which cost us their second goal, but pushed hard for the equaliser. I think the new additions this month will have a huge impact on the rest of our season once the squad settles and I truly believe we will get automatic promotion.

UTV.

Welcome Mr. McGinn, a great signing for us and look forward to watching him play. UTV.

1.) 09 Aug 2018 03:08:58
Heard rumours that Mr. McGinn reminded some people of a young kenny dalglish-now i know that's one heck of a burden to place on such a young players' shoulders, but its been said he just wants to play football and all that jazz off the pitch is out of his control so he's not interested and it doesn't bother him, i hope this is true because he looks like being a monster-if i were the new owners i'd insert a buy-out clause of at least 75 million-sounds mad but i've been told he's got that factor very few players have-maybe we won't miss jack after all if he legs it today or in january-damn, so that's what optimism feels like! --yes i know 75 million is madness, but you boys wait and see-I'M TELLING YOOZE-WE'VE ONLY GONE AND SIGNED A WORLDY! U. T. V.!

2.) 09 Aug 2018 08:22:13
Hears loads of praise from many pundits on mcginn,
Puts himself about likes a tackle great left foot and a really nice guy to boot,
Could be a really good buy and for 2.8mill with add ons it's a no - brainer for us,
Just hope we can bring in either maddison, Powell, or woods,
C/ back is needed and 2 strikers,
This success from Watford is hardly a great goalscorer looking at his stats,

08 Aug 2018 19:07:54
Word in Scotland suggest that McGinn has passed his medical at Villa.

I must say after watching the Derby game my belief in Villa has been reinstalled, a fantastic performance against a side in form that could have quite easily yielded a lot more than the 3 goals we achieved. So credit where credit is due and If Deano can keep the boys performing like that then we stand a good chance of promotion this season despite my earlier concerns.

Having said that we still have an important derby game to win and a tough match against Forest before facing the massive challenge that next month's fixtures bring. The matches during December are without doubt tough ones which could leave us sitting well behind the leading pack if we are not on our game, so for me it is a key month if we are to have any chance of going up. On the other hand if things go well we have the opportunity to take points off a few teams above us which will help in closing the gap that we now face.

I am a lot more optimistic than I was a few weeks ago after seeing yesterday's result but the Christmas period will tell it's own tale so let's see how things look come January before getting too excited.

1.) 12 Nov 2018 09:01:51
Like Smith says nothing to be feared of just get our game right is the main issue,

31 Oct 2018 04:51:17
Well I did always state that Bruce was our best chance to go up this season and although Bruce being replaced was predictable and possibly called for, I really don't see that the change has improved our chances of promotion this term in the slightest. I'm not saying that Bruce would have took us up if he wasn't sacked but I do think he was our best chance this term.

This was always my fear and argument, the disruption of a change in leadership along with the time needed for a manager to build his own squad to induce his own style of football, this was always going to stand a big chance of resulting in championship football for at least the next couple of seasons.

The fans were unhappy with Bruce for letting slip on our chances of promotion before his demise but the way things are shaping up we may end up in a relegation battle. 3 points from nine after playing mid table nothing clubs is not the start we wanted for a new manager and it does nothing to install any sort of confidence. We now even find ourselves with the rare indignity of sitting below blues who let's face it are useless themselves.

Sadly, I don't see much improvement coming either in the near future and I can even see us losing to blues in the coming weeks, that is how low we have once again sunk. This most definitely isn't what I wanted for this season and I can only sit and hope for some small miracle and change in fortune but sadly for me this season is already dead. :- (.

1.) 31 Oct 2018 07:27:51
You have your opinion on Bruce.
My opinion is that he stayed to long.
The timing of the change could have been better because of our failing in defence where we conceded 20 goals in first 10 games Smith has to put up with this defence until Christmas before he can bring in his players.
I can see a big difference in playing style and not for missed chances and sloppy defending we should have had at least
7 points from them 3 games,
But it's all about fine margins really.
I'm happy with Smith and I hope the owners give him real backing for as long as it takes to get back in premiership.
I'm hoping this year he can do it but if not so be it.
At least now I can see proper football on the pitch instead of pure dross from game to game.

2.) 31 Oct 2018 07:44:41
Cheer up villafan you are depressing me with you negative comments.
It's Christmas soon you know ho! ho! ho!

3.) 31 Oct 2018 18:01:09
I knew it wouldn't be long for villafan to start crying because Bruce has gone.

4.) 02 Nov 2018 20:24:07
I knew it wouldn't be long before Villa4eva came up with more of his none productive posts, If you read my post and have something constructive to say then fair play, but if the best you can do is to come up with some childish comment about crying over Bruce then save it for the playground because it isn't even worth reading. Glad your back to school Monday you have much to learn.

15 Sep 2018 04:25:06
I'm sure Bruce must have had some sort of plan in mind regarding our defence after all these strange decisions. What it is exactly, and if it's the right one I have no idea, confusing would be an understatement and I don't think there is a fan out there who knows what's going on. I hope for his sake that things go well today or it may be a case of exit stage left.

1.) 15 Sep 2018 13:24:27
Like most of his poor decisions I doubt if he has any plan for the defence, he has had plenty of time since the Sheffield debacle to acquire a half decent central defender, yet nothing. One more defeat along the the lines of Sheffield and hopefully he will be gone.

31 Aug 2018 20:29:00
Fans should be so grateful for what we have got instead of putting all their effort into moaning about what we haven't. We should all get behind the team now and give them our full support, a couple of months ago it was looking like we wouldn't have one!

1.) 31 Aug 2018 21:11:00
We all get behind the team that we love but do you not think we are shockingly short in defence. Bruce has signed two goalkeepers, two wingers and a centre forward on loan. He has let Elphick go out on loan. Does anyone thinks this makes sense?

2.) 31 Aug 2018 21:31:44
Think he has something up his sleeve regarding a free transfer.
Jt or Robert huth?

29 Aug 2018 12:53:31
After the awful summer that we all endured I think the team has taken shape remarkably well, we have managed to hang on to our key players along with some exciting additions so I would go as far as to say that we have a stronger squad than last term. We certainly will be far more dynamic if the squad clicks and much of this is down to our new owners who have taken hold of our wilting club and breathed new life into it, so for that we are forever grateful as for a short time things were looking really grim.

Along with that, we have this time gotten off to a reasonable start and we are well positioned for a serious challenge, so given that last season we only just missed out on promotion there really is no excuse for us not to go one better this time around.
I may have trodden on a few toes over the past few weeks with some of my outlandish comments but they were never intended to be personal, I just had a belief in Bruce along with a certain amount of sympathy for his personal loss last season so I was determined to show my support. I understand that he is not everyone's cup of tea but rarely does any club get that privilege.

So if I have upset anyone along the way please accept my apology it was never my intention to do so, we all share the same goal for the club even though our opinions may differ from time to time on a variety of issues. Sometimes our emotions do get the better of us because after all we are all passionate followers of the club.

So here's to a fantastic season ahead lads and I hope we can all enjoy it whoever is destined to lead us, there will be the usual ups and downs as always but I hope we can finish it with huge smiles on our faces. We have the squad, we have the owners, we have the fan base and hopefully we have the right manager in place too, but if not then I'm going to be eating humble pie for a very long time, so for the time being it's over to you Mr. Bruce and the very best of luck.
UTV.

1.) 29 Aug 2018 13:32:33
Well said AVillaFan you are definitely a glass half full bloke like me πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘.

2.) 29 Aug 2018 14:06:55
Fair play AVilla fan, only a handful ov games gone, some ov these so called villa fans don’t relies, get behind villa, loads ov games left, they don’t understand the mess we was in 2mnths ago, they are so fickle, up the villa⚽️.

3.) 29 Aug 2018 14:11:10
I echo villafans post well said my man,
I'm not a bruce fan which everybody knows but I have got behind him but last night was a really poor game and result which I went to and I had a go at bruce for his comments after game when he criticised all the players yet 8 of them were his signings,
We all wants best for our great team,
Some want a new manager others want bruce to finish the job and get us promoted,
I personally think in my opinion we need a new progressive coach to taken us to the next level.
His tactics are dated.
But this is just my opinion and and long as we go up that's all that matters,

4.) 29 Aug 2018 14:29:53
Twincannock its not a handful of games, its 60 or 70 - That is a fair barometer to judge the success of a manager, would you agree?

AVillaFan, great post and fair comments - Nobody can argue that Bruce hasn't hard a torrid time of the past 12 months and while personally I believe he has taken us as far as we can go, as you say, we all need to get behind the club and roar the team to promotion.

5.) 29 Aug 2018 14:52:03
Polls was done before start of season and the majority backed bruce infact every poll done they backed Bruce so that tells you a thousand tales the fickle ones will moan regardless even if we was top of the league but playing bad football. Moan for the sake of it makes you look silly IMO. Stats prove so far that we are in the top 5 of everything passes made shots made etc etc. Still people will moan if we had the best manager in the world because he don't pick certain players. On certain players ie youth do all the ones who moan about not playing them go to the training sessions and see what goes on there? No I didn't think so are you their in the changing rooms? No i don't think so. So back the team give up with your moaning and whinging and we will go far this season.

6.) 29 Aug 2018 15:07:00
Only a handful ov games this season, yes 60-70 under Bruce I agree, but did Bruce start with a handful gone after that rubbish Italian gad done damage with his signings which we still can’t get rid ov, plus Richards from Sherwood is still Milking us drie, let’s get behind villa.

7.) 29 Aug 2018 15:14:19
Yeah right we will go far you must be joking it's not about being fickle sum of villa fans have had enough of his awfull play an stoneage football, I always support my team an want us to win no matter who is in charge, but me like most villa fans I speak to have had enough of him it's been 2or 3 yrs an that's easily enough to get out this league, people have a right to moan we go too games or watch at home or what ever so wots wrong with that it's not moaning or being fickle, at all its just most people can see what's going on and it's not good.

8.) 29 Aug 2018 15:25:23
Villa daz πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘.

9.) 29 Aug 2018 15:26:27
Sorry twin cannock that was ment for villa daz.

10.) 29 Aug 2018 15:31:43
Agree 100% villa4eva.
Let’s look at the facts.
Bruce has the best squad
Bruce has the highest wage bill
Bruce has brought his own players in that he wanted
His even had one of the easiest starts to the season regarding the fixtures where 3 of the 5 teams are in the bottom 6.
No exscuse what’s so ever, the bloke is a dinasour regarding his tactics and philosophy playing players out of position and relying on the same old guard.
Tell you know if we are not in the top 3 by start of December he will be gone.

TWINCANNOCK
I’m pretty sure that the starting 11 is all of brucies signings plus hogan so don’t sprout that crap about having to deal with di matteos signings.

11.) 29 Aug 2018 16:00:41
Villa4eva did you not see the state we was in before Bruce took over you are so blinkered its untrue hahaha. Just look at Leeds Blackburn Forest Charlton and so on all been in the PL and all have failed because of bad man management its took Leeds over 5 years to get where they are today from being relegated yet you and so many others on here think we have a god given right to be in the PL hahaha but guess what we don't haha so take your claret tinted glasses off and think long and hard before you post because I will lose you son hahaha.

12.) 29 Aug 2018 16:05:28
BK 60 or 70 games is enough to judge yes I agree with you there. Getting from the brink of relegation to play off final in my eye is a success IMO plus we are lucky to have a team to support and a manager that cares and is not in it just for the money. Short memories and all that springs to mind.

13.) 29 Aug 2018 18:45:33
Leeds didn't spend the money we have fact, leeds didn't have biggest wage budget aswell fact, but leeds have a worldclass manager an done more in a few months than bruce has done in 3 years, yes he steadied the ship big deal that's his job he's post to do that, so we stick with bruce again and he fails, again ul be saying stick with him again, don't you think it's time to get some 1 better who can squeeze 120 percent out these players bruce can't sqeeze a sponge let alone get the best out this team take play off final how did we set up an how long did it take him to make changes 65 mins in final when any other manager would of changed when fulham scored, but instead of setting up to attack we tried to steel the game by being negative, didn't you hear fulham captain at the end saying football won in the end

Every single manager in the league is only a few games away from the chop that is common knowledge. The new owners stated long ago that they wished for a more youthful squad and Terry at 37 doesn't make it into that category. Much of the hype surrounding Terry is press generated after the crisis of our first loss but I think Terry has know moved elsewhere anyway so it's all irrelevant.

Can't see this happening, More likely a press generated tale until they can find some real news, much like Abraham who isn't even available as yet.

I think you are right mate, Villa need and should get 3 points against Blackburn if we are looking to be promoted. Getting back amongst the leaders quickly is essential both to Villa if want to put in a serious challenge, and for Bruce if he wants to remain in charge.

Slip ups now and again, although frustrating may be tolerated if sparse but a string of poor results won't be. A bad result later today could seal Bruce's fate. We need to be within touching distance of the automatic places or in one of them at all times so sliding down the table cannot be accepted, we certainly don't want to be mid table for a prolonged period.

Come December we need to be right up there with the pack because the tough fixtures during that month will most likely see us drop points and lose ground whoever is in charge. So if we continue to slide down the table now then it needs to be addressed and fast, usually the first step for a club in achieving that would be to remove the manager from his post.

As always I hold my faith with team and Manager but without 3 points today even I must admit I was wrong to believe in Bruce and maybe he is not the man for the job after all. So I hope for Bruce's sake and for that of the club that things go well today, new players are in place, the squad is rested and there are no unexpected injury issues so it's a day for no excuses.

UTV.
