I might be reading too much into this, but I heard Southgate's interview with TalkSPORT last night following game with Belgium and he was asked what he had learnt from the last two games, and whilst recognising the efforts of both front men who had played, he was at pains to point out the additional aspects he feels Toney brings to the squad, ie he's not an out and out front man, he links the play well, has good movement and is a proven penalty taker. I think Southgate favours Toney over Watkins. Given you should pick your squad based on ability and players in form, it will be a travesty if Ollie isn't on the plane.

Couldn’t watch the game, so I taped it . Skimmed through it, but lost my rag in the summing up . Not once did they mention the Ollie knock back that got us the goal . Toney, Toney, Toney that’s all we had, Joe Cole acts like he’s his manager . When you have a player, who been involved in 26 goals, then one who hasn’t played for 8months for being a cheat, no contest .
