I picked up comments on-line a week or so ago that Smith rated King and had originally seen him as an alternative to Watkins (versatility across the front line) . I think he may be looking at him in addition to Watkins now.

King had hoped Man Utd would come in for him after an aborted attempt last January, but Greenwood has emerged since (notwithstanding his shenanigans in Iceland) . Perhaps the key question is now whether Bournemouth would be happy to lose both Wilson and King during the same transfer window.

King is reliable, if not spectacular, and does offer a physical presence, whilst covering a number of front roles that could marry in well with Watkins. His experience would be of benefit, whilst both can play out wider when required. However, I seem to recall his best season with the Cherries was when he had to take on the main striker role and ended up with something like seventeen goals.

I think he’d be a good, solid signing. His contract is up in 2021. so shouldn’t cost mega bucks. What was the rule where players could buy out their own contracts? Surely funding that would be less than £5m? Don’t know how it works, mind.

What’s the point in you lot buying any players in this window as you never seem to play. Fulham, Albion and Sheffield Utd aren’t going to get 26 points so you are already safe. You may as well end your season now unless the FA are going to dock you points for not fulfilling fixtures.

We are a huge club with plenty of history, that history is now in need of a top up.
When you have been the dominating club of an area as big as the west midlands, for so many tears it requires the occasional injection of new blood.
