Paulo Fonsec Didn't go to Newcastle, so perhaps he knew the Villa job was on the cards ?

We don’t know if he was even spoken to let alone offered the job, fans and reporters are completely speculating on any of these jobs, it’s like this short list that everyone says we have, the club are not telling anyone who they want until they have a deal done, the reason I guess is partly because they won’t have it said that they couldn’t get their first choice in after sacking current manager, we could get a huge surprise just like we do when we sign players

So the ‘shortlist’ (according to the BBC so it must be true) seems to be:

Steven Gerrard – never managed a Prem side. Would this be a step up?

Roberto Martinez – win % at Everton was 42%, Deano’s was 39%

Kasper Hjulmand – unproven at club level

Ralph Hasenhuttl - loyal to Southampton, unlikely to move

Graham Potter – unlikely to leave the AMEX

So obviously, on that basis, I’m hoping for a huge surprise appointment that is none of the above

So who Menace?

Dean Smiths premier league win rate is 32%

Dean smith premier league stats, 28 wins from 86 games, so that’s 30% win ratio at the most. 39% was probably his overall stats at villa
I like Martinez I would be relatively happy with him, Emery would probably be my first choice though

Menace, you could add Paulo Fonseca. OK sacked from Roma and replaced by Mourhino who is now struggling to get wins.

Whack, I would be happy with Martinez who I think is looking to come back to the PL.

He is of good pedigree Aka, also has worked with some of the best players in the world over the last few years. and has the relegation battle experience in the premier league, was it Wigan he was at before Everton? He kept them up against the odds a couple of times

I'd prefer Martinez to Gerrard however, I think it's more likely to be Gerrard because of his history with Purslow.

He seems to be the huge favourite with the bookies, it seems a strange one though, every article that talks about it calls us a stepping stone to Liverpool, I don’t like the sound of that I want a manager who sees himself winning things with us not just serving his time before moving to a top 4 club. I think I’d have potter before him, I guess we will have to support whoever they appoint but hopefully they make the right decision

Menace, it’s getting like the old boys club at VP if they allow personal feelings to come into the decision of choice for a new manager.
Let’s hope that they make a decision based on facts, ability and quality.

Steven Gerrard would bring Gary MC Alistair back (was under Houlier)

I still would like to see Valverde, sure it was him that kicked off when Barcelona sold Barry as he wanted to build around him and a week later Barcelona sacked him.
