Nice to see Ollie Watkins back in the England squad, but you have to feel for the likes of Antonio at West Ham, over the last couple of years including this season he has scored something like 25 goals in 48 games together with I think double figures in terms of assists, those numbers merit at least a place in the squad in my opinion However it just looks like another example of form counting for nothing in the England that is managed by Gareth Southgate. Perhaps if Antonio engineered himself a move to Man City he would be guaranteed to start for England week in week out?.

May be wrong but I’m sure Antonio plays for Jamaica?

You are right Chris I hadn’t realised he was picked during the last international break I should have checked ?.

I think he may have teased it for a while, in the hope it may get him an England cap but when that never came he went through with it.

Shame because like you said, he’s just another who has been on fire leading up to International squads, more than once, yet never been picked.

I’m not a fan of players who find the most tenuous link to a nation in order to play international football, but look at Matty Cash, if we won the league this season and he hit double figures for goals and assists, kids of clean sheets, you would still bet he wouldn’t get an England call up off the back of it. He’d get the old “he’s one we’re keeping an eye on” line, but in reality there’d still be 4 players ahead of him in Southgates mind, so if he wants international football he has to go and play for Poland, which you’d imagine is a country he’s never been to!

We have to wait for Southgate to go. It's the worst possible situation for Villa fans because we all know who will be top of the FA's list when the time comes.

Villa56 I was actually talking about this to my work colleagues and I think one day deano will be England manager.
