Quite an anti climax before the door slammed shut.
The new signings look good on paper but need to show us the goods on the pitch.
My disappointment is the failure to bring in the ball winner at the back.
I am sure that we all noted that on Saturday Toney was free of any defender when he scored.
Who was meant to be marking him?
So many goals shipped through naive marking.
Smith seems to be hailing Sansom as the bargain and he is now fit to join the match day squad.
Overall a report of could do better but tried hard would best sum up the window.
I am waiting to see what the full squad will do when it matters and look forward to an improvement on last seasons final place.

I think we needed a ball playing hiding midfielder TOV - Bissoma the obvious option, albeit and very ambitious one. My concern isn't as our inability to win the ball back but how easily we lose it when we do, that's why I think the club were pushing so hard for JWP. This for me is a gap in the squad, which is such shame considering the strength in other areas.

Transfer window gone, can't change anything now so we have to move forward. We are definitely lacking in midfield but we have to work with what we have. Sansom, Nakamba and Luiz seem to be some of Deano's answers and whilst many of us have questioned these players, we have to be fair and give time for Deano to find his best team. i'm prepared to give it till October for things to work out before commenting further if things aren't going well and whilst i have concerns that i don't think our all round package is good enough to compete with the top eight, I'm hoping that Deano knows best, deep down though i don't think he does.

Is that another way of saying “I hope I’m wrong” Scott? 😂.

Ov a fair school report sir. I think sansom needs some games to prove his worth. I says let's cut him some slack, remember how vertout was hounded out and now he's showing how good he is. For a dm I would like to see axel in there or in a back 3. Still in Dean we trust.

Scottcaffu? Is that the same negative Scotty from Twitter? Come on guys let’s have some positivity and get behind the Villa and esp Dean Smith ( yes we know you don’t like him Scotty) we are well capable when we have a fully fit squad of finishing in the top half and when everyone has gelled maybe challenging the top 8. Ollie and Ings playing in a diamond front four with Buendia and Bailey will bring many goals and I think a back two of McGinn and Dougie behind them will link up well and eventually produce clean sheets. With El-Ghazi, Carney, Traore, Bidace, Young etc on the bench what’s not to get excited about. Up the Villa.

One of the posters on here and for the life of me I can’t remember who, may very well have hit the nail on the head when they said the owners have only sanctioned the spending of the Grealish money to see how the team progresses before backing the current management team with significant additional funds to invest in the team. I am a big Dean Smith fan but this season is a very big one for him I remain optimistic about what the squad can achieve but if things aren’t going well come December time it wouldn’t surprise me if his position was under serious threat.

As I said a few weeks ago that my sources had advised that our incoming transfer business was completed for this window.
I know we made enquires about several players a central defensive midfielder another striker and another winger / attacking midfielder but we’d set our value other clubs didn’t agree and therefore no deal agreed.
My sources tell me that the transfer policy is simple if we can’t get the identified player the for the valuation then Villa will not buy or go and get 2nd best.
JWP is a prime example we wanted him we valued him at what we believed was a fair market value Southampton said no we didn’t return that was the end of the search.
Will Hughes was mentioned in the press we never looked at him it was pure speculation he is an example of second best and I dint blame Villa for buying second best just to fill the squad and keep you guys happy.
