Benrahma reported to CP for £20m which I believe would have been good business for us.
I think.

Very strange that the price has suddenly gone down from 30 m to 20m.

I think DS has moved on from Benrahma and is looking for a higher class of player.

I have wondered if Smith’s past history with the Bees has actually been a disadvantage.

From memory, Maupay ended up being sold for a cheaper value than we had been quoted.

I’m glad we didn’t buy him he gets a few goals but not a nice person on field always involved in a drama,

To be honest I would prefer Benrahma at £20 million to Rashica at £16.5 million because Benrahma would be happy to join us whereas Rashica doesn’t really want to be here.

I get the feeling that Brentford are a tad hacked off that we keep taking their talented players and a premium is added when we declare an interest but at the £30 million we were apparently being quoted I am not surprised the club looked at alternatives as they are virtually able to buy both Traore and Rashica for that fee.

The other interesting thing for me is that we continue to be linked with strikers like Edouard, King, and Brewster but if we sign Rashica, Traore and Martinez that’s the £100 million gone so unless we have. a number of outgoings lined up that will generate significant additional funds where is the money coming from? Is Jack about to be sold?

My feelings as well John.

Well Aka if that is going to happen we should take a leaf out of the Brentford book and if it is that he is sold and it is to United then we should insist upon £70 million plus Tuanzebe and nothing less.

John, I am one of those supporters who believe we shouldn’t build our team around one player so I will accept life with or without Grealish.

I far prefer Rashica. Played at a higher level, and different type of player. Quick, direct and strong. There’s a level of debate whether Benrahma will make the step up, and style of play may be more similar to Grealish. What we really lacked last year was pace, and we’re (supposedly) signing some really fast players. There’s a really good plan in place.

Reports I’ve seen say that Rashica is really keen to join Villa; not sure where it has come from that he doesn’t want to? Yes, his first preference was Leipzig but that was for valid reasons (stay in Germany, Champions league) . They’ve pulled out and he’s very happy to consider us. I guess he’d have looked at where we were last year and having come from the Championship. having fears is understandable. From various accounts it seems we’ve sold the vision to him and therefore getting a next-level player is looking really likely.

I think we’re in for a very exciting year!

Also. lots of people commenting that Rashica doesn’t want to join us. but what about all the reports that Benrahma doesn’t want to leave London? Seems more evidence that he doesn’t want to come!
