would anyone agree to giving vassilev a go on thursday. Davies and samatta can't score in a brothel so what's there to lose.

I agree SV but would rather give Louie Barry a chance. For me Deano’s over protecting him and he shouldn’t be, the kid is raring to go.

This is another classic example of how quick we are to condemn a player.
Samatta has played 5 full games for us and scored 2 goals, another game he was not in squad.
Of the remaining games he has been on the pitch 16 mins, 21 mins, 33 mins, half of those games are in the middle of a world virus, he is in a foreign country, and has been thrown into a relegation scrap, as a lone striker.
Are you for real mate.
Have you seen anyone play to is strengths, have you seen anyone put him through, no you have not.
I will tell you one thing, If I was him I would want out, and now.
If you watch him he barely puts a foot wrong when he is on the ball.
As a club we have not got a clue, and as supporters well I will leave that one with you mate. 🤡
I thought better of you SV.

Agree totally about Barry Mark, Vassilev is a midfielder, so we need to fair to him, square peg in a round hole and all that jazz.

Villa dave, we agree on lots of things but obviously not on this one, barry or vassilev, thought vas was a forward more than a mid, may just give us a spark. I agree Samatta has not played all the games but mate he not a jamie Vardy. His record before he came to VP showed that he not prolific. Davies is immense in holding the ball up and giving space for others, but he ain't no natural goal scorer. WE need goals to stay up and we won't get them from either. We're losing games because we can't score when we're on top. I've been critical of our mids and defence when needed but at the mo they're under massive pressure cause we just can't score.

Yes we do agree a lot mate, but I hate it when players are not given a chance to prove themselves.
No he is not a Jamie Vardy, but look at the facts mate.
Vardy scored 5 goals in his first season for Liecester.
He went on to score a total of 26 goals in 107 games his first 3 seasons, that is not brilliant is it SV.
Another stat is that Samatta is nearly 8 years younger than Vardy,
plenty of time to settle and get used to the English game.
You say he is not prolific, that maybe true to some extent,

Vardy 389 appearances 191 goals, Samatta 362 appearances 175 goals
Not a thumping great difference is it.

Deano has tried Samatta and Davis together for just the one match and you’re absolutely right Dave, most of his Villa minutes have been as a lone striker and the supply line has been very poor. I think there is potentially a prolific goal scorer in there but as a lone striker in this team, well I don’t think even Harry Kane would do much better frankly.
Why not try Samatta and Barry together or even forget the wingers Trézéguet and El ghazi and play Davis as well, playing that little bit deeper.

Villa dave excellent stats that have put me well and truly in my place mate. The one you are missing though is super Jack is the second highest in setting up chances in the prem, so I don't think it's a case of no service.

How many chances has Grealish set up for Samatta since the restart, I’m struggling to think of one!

I would love to try that combination Mark, different and refreshing.
I think it would surprise a few defenders fore sure, especially the pace side of that twosome.

I can`t think of one chance to be honest Mark, I have seen Samatta check his runs because the ball has not been released into space or quick enough.
SV I am not trying to put you in your place mate, so I apologise if it appears that way.
Only supporting Sammy, who I think could be good in the championship.

Villa dave I think he could be the new benteke given time but alas time we haven't got. I am the eternal optimist and hope he's leading the line next season only in the prem. Maybe him and Wesley together. I'll never give up hope until its certain.

I like your optimism SV, so please tell me where the points are going to come from mate.
Remember we are 4 points behind West Ham and Watford with the Man Utd game in Hand?

Guys some great posts as always here’s my view for what it’s worth. This applies irrespective of what division we are in. Firstly we need to decide the fate of the manager and we need to do that quickly as you know I think we should stick with Delano but if we decide not to then we need to identify who we want and appoint quickly. Once we have cleared that hurdle there is a major restructuring required cross playing and non playing staff the manager needs to decide what formation he favours and identify HIS targets and the club needs to get them and not go for cheaper options which tend to be foreign and have no experience of the English leagues and therefore take too long to adjust. Recruitment needs to be a mixture of youth and experience so that if we do get promoted we don’t end up
having another cull because we haven’t recruited players who are sufficiently talented to make the transition from Championship to Premiership players culling every year means we will not only cost the club financially but means we will end up yo yo ing like the Baggies before us. I think we also need to make better use of the loans market like Lampard did at Derby to supplement the squad a couple of the Liverpool kids like Curtis Jones or Billy Gilmore from Chelsea this approach could benefit both parties and finally the fans need to have patience if we end up in the Championship for a couple of years whilst or kids develop and we build a squad capable of staying in the Prem and ultimately competing then so be it Rome wasn’t built in a day. We as fans need to support the manager through the bad times as well as the good.

Very good post John.
I am all for that in theory mate, as you are probably aware I was fully behind Deano from day one.
I am sure he could rekindle the faith I had in him, if only he would change things from time to time.
Substitutes are made on or around 70 minutes, like for like, and often too late.
Systems are rigid, and the injection of youth is none-existent.
The restructuring of the club and time lines you mention I am 100% behind all of it John.
