Irrespective of what happens tomorrow, the club has got a big pre season ahead of it, as I think another big clear out is required. For me if we stay in the prem then I would look to keep Heaton, Guilbert, Konsa, Mings Targett, Luiz, Hourihane, McGinn and probably Wesley

but other than that the rest can go, ( I have some sympathy with Samatta but I don't think he fits in particularly well with the system Smith wants to play) I would try to sign some from the following; Mitrovic, Ihenacho, Benrahma, Brooks, Wilson, Albrighton, Tuanzebe and bring in a number of our kids like Ramsey and Barry to blood them through the season.

I think the targets I have identified are realistic and would strengthen the squad significantly. Ideally I would have included Ings as a target but I don't think we have a hope in hell of landing him.

If it's the Championship then the cull still needs to happen but the retained list and the targets will be somewhat different.

Having a clear out is not going to help anyone, what we need is to build on the squad by buying players that will improve the squad and push out current fringe players like Jota. It's a case of buy better players to start and current starters become squad players, el ghazi and trez and samatta replaced for instance.
