With Jack being offered a new contract and a reported wage of 150k a week I think this could have repricutions on future transfers and wages for new players. I know a couple have been released to get some wages back but if we sign Tammy he would surely demand 75-80k a week also can we really afford this?

It is a worry I must confess however, I I am sure the commercial arm of the club are looking to improve revenue streams season upon season, but it will become increasingly difficult if we can’t get closer in revenue terms to the big six. I remember reading a couple of months back that Tottenham’s income from just food and hospitality dwarfed Villa’s match day receipts for the whole season if we can’t narrow that gap signing and paying for top players will always be a problem.

{Ed002's Note - Someone is teasing you.}

Ed - based on the last set of accounts Villa’s match day income was £11 million, Spurs was £95 million. Apparently next year they are anticipating hospitality will take £800,000 per home game 19 home games plus 3 Champions League games gives an estimated income of £17.6 million if those projections are right we are going to have real problems in competing with top clubs unless we address that financial imbalance.

{Ed002's Note - The last pre-pandemic results were for the 18/19 season when Aston Villa was in the Championship. You are not comparing like for like. Aston Villa have far less income than Spurs on match day due to the size of the stadium and ticket prices. They will earn more next season than Spurs do in sandwiches and lager.}

The accounts I am quoting from are 2020 accounts our first season back in the premier league so I am comparing like with like.

Tottenham will do that against most when it comes to match day income, much like Doug Ellis was ahead of the curve when he installed the large function rooms with bars, and as many boxes as possible etc at villa park, Levy has pioneered the next step at the new Spurs stadium, with the 100 meter bar and other attractions, all aimed at keeping both home and away fans at the ground long before and long after the match.

We were away there first game of our return to the prem, when things were ‘normal’, there set up is a different kettle of fish to everyone in the UK.
