Don't know how reliable caughtoffside are as a news outlet I suspect not very. They are reporting a deal has been in place since the end of the season with City for Jack's transfer at a cost of £88 million!

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2021 21:00:36
Just been reading the report myself Villajohn.
Unsure about their reliability but I am at the stage where I am not too bothered either way.
If he stays, great and if he leaves we will also benefit.
I have never believed a club like Villa should be totally built around one player as that could result in a disaster in the case of long term injury or in this case a transfer out of the club.

27 Jun 2021 22:18:19
Caughtoffside is completely unreliable the story is nonsense. Like every other supposed news outlet they're trying to sell Grealish and more importantly for them create a frenzy of clicks on their page. I am confident that the Villa owners will stand firm and Jack will not force a move it will not happen.

28 Jun 2021 02:24:34
Biggest pile of horse manure I’ve every read. it is quiet possible that he might move this year but you can be sure that if it does happen our owners will squeeze every last penny out of the deal, it would take a complete moron to do any kind of a deal like that before the euros, before replacing him and before trying to start a bidding war for him. in NSWE I trust to either put a package together to keep him or absolutely bleed city dry for him.

28 Jun 2021 08:43:52
They have already offered a huge new packag they want to improve their asset not sell the best part of it. In general pundits, media and opposing fans are having a hard time accepting the fact that Villa is possibly the new City galloping towards the higher leves of the premier league and europe. i'm sure City suffered the same ignorance on their march to the top.

28 Jun 2021 08:57:02
I wouldn’t be surprised if Caughtoffside were fed this story by a party with a vested financial interest.

I have to say, I am with Aka. I get fed up of the constant Grealish ‘news’. It gets rather boring and seems to completely overshadow the credentials of the rest of the squad.

Tactically, it would be a nonsense to seal a deal before the Euros, where JG’s value might soar. Other media sources, who have been historically close to the club, have agreed nothing more than interest has been shown by City so far. This begs the question, why would such an irregular AV news outlet suddenly know so much more?

28 Jun 2021 11:15:26
My question is, why is "interest" even a story? Every Villa (sorry Football) fan surely knows City would be interested in signing Grealish? Them and every other big club in world football I'm sure, why is "interest" or "preparing a bid" even news these days. It's clearly agents trying to either encourage Villa to give Jack a nice new contract or start a bidding war, until Jack confirms his intentions I'm trying not to get carried away with all those noise. If he wants to go then we will be well remimbursed, and 88M will not cut it.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with agents or anyone else trying to get one over on Aston Villa. Manchester City are interested in buying Grealish.}

28 Jun 2021 13:38:08
We know they are interested Ed but surely you can agree that caughtoffside are talkingthrough their backsides on this 1.

{Ed002's Note - You will need to enlighten me, I have no idea what they have said.}

28 Jun 2021 13:52:08
Of course it is true that City are interested, but respectfully, don't be fooled into thinking that his agent or agents won't be encouraging the sale they stand to make a few million. Realistically and fortunately it will not happen the club will stand firm and Jack is not likely to force a move from the club he loves. Chance of it happening 4 out of 10.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously I am not going to be fooled in to anything. I answered the post that it was "clearly agents" behind all of this - it isn't.}

28 Jun 2021 13:54:07
Bang on the button BK, totally agree mate.
If any deal is ever done concerning Grealish, it will be at least 100M with add-ons and conditions.

28 Jun 2021 14:33:01
This will rattle on and on in the media they have to create clicks! Come the begining of the new season Jack will still be a Villa player then the media will turn their attention to the next January window when they will tell us all he will be officially anounced a City player " because their agreed deal with him right now June 2021" is to give Villa the first half of this season! Its all media nonsense.

{Ed002's Note - These posts are really embarrassing.}

28 Jun 2021 15:06:39
Would you tell us which ones Ed? so that we can respond.

{Ed002's Note - Everyone that thinks that Manchester City has no interest in Grealish and agents are simply whippling things up. Why would you want to respond?}

28 Jun 2021 15:24:31
I think it's more to do with the £12m difference in reports.
From last year after he signed a new 5year deal it was said and up until Sunday morning, that Man City were launching a £100 for Jack.

All of a sudden it's £88m big chunk of change of a difference PLUS the report said the deal had been agreed since last season - despite him signing a new 5yr contract September 2020.

Look at it this way:
CaughtOffside have never been correct in any of their "exclusive" content.
The reporter Jamie Wilkinson (74 followers) is a die hard Chelski fan and a freelance sports journalist.

Villa are attempting to lure Tammy back at £40m, do you really think he'd come to the villa knowing that Jack is out the door?

NSWE are building a team around Jack, so what's changed in 8mths, don't forget he's been injured Feb to May playing one full 90min.

{Ed002's Note - If Aston Villa want Abraham they need to make an offer and if Chelsea accept it I would think TA would opt for Villa over other options. Aston Villa have also asked Chelsea about the availability of a youngster Tino Livramento.}

28 Jun 2021 15:59:47
Ed I think most of us Villa fans are well aware that City are interested in Grealish, which top team can ignore his talent.
Its the figures that are the problem.
What we are saying, is that it has to be in excess of 100m, if not they should jog on.
If he played for Liverpool or Man Utd they would want 120M + no question about it.

{Ed002's Note - That is not what people are posting - they are whining about agents and don't seem to understand there is interest.}

28 Jun 2021 17:17:33
I think you re missing the point being made Ed002, we totally understand the interest from city. What we are saying is that the whole story is being hyped up by agents/ papers. Agents commission being their incentive and papers incentive being click bait/ paper sales. Effectively its both the interest and the media circus making it a big thing.

{Ed002's Note - it is not being hyped by agents or anyone else. It is no difference to any other transfer.}

28 Jun 2021 18:15:43
Ed, my point wasn't that there is no interest, if you check my previous posts I clearly state that City and every club in world football would be interested in Grealish. My point is, when does "interest" become news when you are talking about a player like Grealish, for me interest is assumed. Now when interest turns into a bid or a transfer then that's news, until then I'll assume there is interest in Grealish and all this "bid accepted" nonsense is agents stirring the pot.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City have declared an interest with Aston Villa. Every other club in the world has not. I am stunned that the Aston Villa fans cannot grasp this.}

28 Jun 2021 18:27:24
If we are honest, I think listening to Jack it’s a question of when he goes not if. He says he wants to win medals and compete at the highest level as a player both domestically and at international level, and whilst we are undoubtedly progressing as a club I am not sure I can see us winning the premier league in the next 5 years or so, while Jack will be at his peak. Can I see us establishing ourselves in the premiership? Definitely. Can I see us pushing for a top 6 place? Again I would say definitely I maybe can see us challenging for a top 4 spot, we may even win a cup along the way but winning the premiership or the holy grail of the champions league then trying to be realistic that’s not likely to happen. What I hope is Jack helps us attract more quality players to the squad this transfer window and next he gives us one more year leads us to European qualification and then we should let him go and thank him for what he has done for the club.

28 Jun 2021 23:05:41
Agree with you Ed but agents will be behind some of the rumours and media garbage. Agents are cunning its all about money.

28 Jun 2021 23:15:10
ED002 respectfully I am a little bit confused as to why you can't see why its in an agents interests to create a circus " it absolutely does happen" a percentage of £100million is big money! City are of coure interested in Jack and there is a number of other clubs too but they will not enter the situation because who can afford him!? Anyway regardless he will be a Villa player come the start of the season.

{Ed002's Note - Agents do not create a "circus" and his income will not be a percentage of £100M - it will be a fixed amount negotiated with any potential buyer.}

29 Jun 2021 00:00:12
Ed we all seem to have missed your bit of info there about interest in tino livramento? What do we know about this kid?

{Ed002's Note - Young, well liked, Right Wing Back or Winger. Chelsea won't want to sell but may consider a loan.}

29 Jun 2021 13:31:14
"{Ed002's Note - Agents do not create a "circus" and his income will not be a percentage of £100M - it will be a fixed amount negotiated with any potential buyer. }"

I'm newly registered and have done so to respond to this particular thread.

There are two main points to be made.

1. Most of the non-mainstream outlets generate revenue through ads and in order to get ad revenue they need traffic going to their sites. So it's in their interest to generate stories from 'close sources' that will ultimately drive fans, like us, to their sites.

2. I understand the point about agents. Where Ed002 has pointed out that an agent income will not be a percentage of the £100, it will still be a fixed amount embedded in the contract. However, that will be the case for any contract whether it be a renewal with Villa or a new contract with City. It's down to the player as to what he wants to do with his future.

I check the news on Villa daily. Anything outside of BBC/ Sky Sports News is to be taken lightly. Bmail is one of the main offenders, the amount of 'headlines' I see from them daily just to drive traffic to their sites is unbelievable.

We all want to know what's happening with Grealish and other new potential signings. Patience is key here. We just need to ride the wave for now.

Happy afternoon all :)

{Ed077's Note - what the agent gets is generally unrelated to the transfer fee. Agents usually negotiate their fees separately from the transfer fee. JG's agent can demand/negotiate 20M whether JG moves for 90M or 125M.}

29 Jun 2021 15:04:06
Afternoon avod, welcome aboard mate.
Hope you will be part of many more threads, enjoy the ride.

30 Jun 2021 13:48:03
Ed002
Of course the agent will have a fixed figure agreed but agents will also include a percentage of the £100million if they can. I know enough brokers and agents to know it happens.

{Ed002's Note - You clearly know nothing about football agents and how the process works. This is nothing to do with agents trying to create any sort of circus. You really just don't seem to get it at all.}

30 Jun 2021 20:52:18
I really do a friend of mine is an agent, you are naive! I did not say it was all about agents trying to create a circus but very clearly they can and do.

{Ed002's Note - As the one person who has ever visited this page who could never accused of being naive you are simply continuing to embarrass the Aston Villa supporters with these stupid posts.}
