I see rumours are starting to circulate that Man City see Jack as a replacement for David Silva I think we might have to brace ourselves for a big money bid come January.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Nov 2020 20:01:57
Where have you seen that John?

15 Nov 2020 01:07:40
I’d say that might have some credibility. Suddenly Kevin De Bruyne is Jacks biggest fan. Could be he’s looking to woo him over to City.

15 Nov 2020 08:42:59
Dave, I think it was on the Newsnow website.

15 Nov 2020 09:26:03
That was said a very long time ago, along with Grealish to Man United. Wouldn’t give it any thought.

15 Nov 2020 09:30:29
Add to that his court case coming up soon and clubs won’t want that bad press.

And the price tag will have gone up significantly, the owners won’t want to lose their captain as they’ve said and shown many a time. I can imagine they will be wanting 100+.

15 Nov 2020 09:55:26
Jack is currently one of the hottest properties in the Premier league. That surely puts him in the 100 million + bracket. How much did Barcelona pay for Coutinho a few years back. If he goes anywhere, it could well be to one of the Spanish giants, who don’t bulk at the price tags.

15 Nov 2020 10:18:49
Clickbait BS! He'll be linked with all and sundry because himself and the team are in the spotlight at the moment and they won't like one of the so called "smaller teams " gatecrashing their bubble. Let's flip it round for a change and start some bs rumours we're coming for their players 😁.

15 Nov 2020 10:32:08
If Jack continues to play as he is now, then I think it is likely that we will receive a bid and if Sancho is valued at £120 million we shouldn’t consider anything less than that. If we hold fast with that price then the only premiership clubs that would be able to offer that kind of money would be City, Utd or Chelsea. Chelsea don’t have a vacancy in midfield for him, and given the prevarication from Utd over the last 18 months plus the fact that they are currently a very ordinary side I think Jack might be inclined to tell them to bugger off. However I think City are a different proposition they would increase his wages that together with the chance to work with one of the best coaches in the world and some of the best players in the world might make him more inclined to move but if we continue as we have recently you never know, the team seem to be enjoying the football and the recognition is coming at international level so he might stay and see if he can take us to that next level here’s hoping.

{Ed002's Note - You are living in a fantasy land John. The value of Grealish is nothing to do with the price that Sancho did not sell for.}

15 Nov 2020 10:33:57
Didn’t realise it was from news now, never ever trust that garbage😂 no doubt they get everything eventually, usually 5 days after everyone else. The rest is just clickbait, links to articles on random websites no ones ever heard.

{Ed002's Note - "Newsnow" is simply a news aggregator taking articles from other sources such as the BBC, Guardian etc..}

15 Nov 2020 10:56:42
Of course I know what news now is, as I said they get everything, problem is that means along with the telegraph etc, they also get ‘football365’ and ‘soccer. London’, which is utter rubbish.

Surely you know the saying Ed, never assume, it makes an, you know the rest😘.

{Ed002's Note - Actually they don't take a lot of news sources. }

15 Nov 2020 12:07:55
What happened here then? 🤔.

15 Nov 2020 12:53:21
Chris I think it may of been inferred that you were born in Crete 🤔😁.

15 Nov 2020 13:41:24
How did we get here, we were discussing a possible rumour about another clubs interest in one of our players.
What has happened in between?
I have seen nothing, and even if it is true, like John has said, we should be asking for similar money as the Sancho rumour.

15 Nov 2020 13:46:35
I think edd002 is correct jacks price has nothing to do with sancho price, especially seeing as sancho is nowhere near jacks lvl, with a 5 year contract jack is easily worth 150 million if he keeps playing as he is, with regards to a possible transfer I can’t see jack going to sit on city bench and fight with foden after breaking into England squad he needs to play every week instead of coming on for the last 15 mins week in week out, I personally think jack is going nowhere for a year or 2 and if we finish in a European spot he will sign a bumper new deal in the summer, big IF I know buy anything is possible the way results are going, as supporters we have to believe that these things are possible.

15 Nov 2020 15:07:58
Ed 02 with all due respect can I ask why am I living in a fantasy land? I accept Sancho plays in a different position to Jack but he plays in a league which in my opinion is neither as competitive or as good and he has not displayed the same level of consistency either at club or international level and yet very few if anyone seemed to be surprised at the fee being asked for him. Jack has just signed a five year deal so currently if clubs want him we hold most of the cards so to speak. We don’t really want to sell so if clubs want him they have to pay, after all Barcelona had to for both Suarez and Coutinho we aren’t going to give him away if they won’t pay fine we are more than happy to keep him win win as far as I am concerned.

{Ed002's Note - You cannot simply compare players in that way. Certainly nobody would pay £120M for Grealish and if a club were interest Aston Villa would be looking for considerably less if they decide to sell. It is also nothing to do with Coutinho or Suarez.}

15 Nov 2020 15:59:53
Why would we be looking for considerably less? He’s our best player, our captain and just signed a 5 year deal? 80 million was the number dean smith had in his head in the summer and I think everyone can agree that jack has gone up a lvl since season started, his stats speak for themselves and he’s done well in the England set up with a few assists when he’s got his chance. seems to me it’s because he’s not playing for united or city etc. that we’re not entitled to top price for him, gone are the Randy learner days of selling our best players our owners have ambition to go places there’s no way they will sell on the cheap,

{Ed002's Note - The price of players is not going up - there is no money. You are delusional.}

15 Nov 2020 16:12:18
Ed, we all know it has nothing to do with Coutinho or Suarez, we are using them as comparisons, in a monetary sense.
Can I ask, why you don`t think anyone would pay £120M for Grealish. And can I also ask why you think Villa would ask for less, if they ever do decide to sell.
That seems ludicrous to me, especially if that is the going rate for a player of his ability.

{Ed002's Note - There is no money, nobody except a few delusional AV fans think he is worth anything like that.}

15 Nov 2020 16:52:32
Well the proof of the pudding will be in the eating as they say. As far as I am concerned it’s a win win if someone wants him they pay the asking price if they don’t we keep him with our current owners it doesn’t appear we will be under any pressure to sell.

{Ed002's Note - We have established before that the AV fans don't understand finances or FFP.}

15 Nov 2020 17:44:23
Jack is not replaceable. I wouldn't want him to leave for 1 billion. What's the point if we can't get someone else equally as good or better? If he were to leave this year then I would think it'd have to be at least 120m. Why would we even consider him leaving though? As I say, we cannot replace him and it would screw the club up. I don't think Barkley or Martinez would have joined if Grealish wasn't already committed to Villa. He has more pulling power than Smith.

{Ed002's Note - Players are transient, they come and go.}

15 Nov 2020 18:30:05
Ed, I know we have had this debate on here before but we have supposedly been falling foul of ffp for the last 2 -3 years but nothing has happened and given what the football world is going to go through post co vid are we sure anything will happen? If we do then the club will deal with it but I doubt it will happen how many prem clubs have fallen foul to date?

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has happened because of the pandemic. But Aston Villa remain in the same difficult situation John.}

15 Nov 2020 18:41:51
Grealish, to us anyway, is priceless and we'll see how good he is tonight against top notch European competition. At the end of the day he's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay. And with the way the world is at the moment teams won't be awash with money, unless you're Chelsea who saved it during their transfer ban.
Ps Ed002 do you need a cuddle?

{Ed002's Note - I guess you don't understand where the money for transfers came from at Chelsea. There will be attractive offers for Grealish next summer at half of what you are all suggesting next summer. It will give him a chance to step up in his career.}

15 Nov 2020 18:47:40
Ed mate, I don`t want to sound arrogant, but I am a C. I. D Certified Bookkeeper.
FFP, I never deal with, and am not so versed, but I certainly understand Business finances, and Accountancy mate.

{Ed002's Note - Clearly you don't understand FFP and as a bookkeeper I would not expect you to.}

15 Nov 2020 19:19:27
Ed002 I remember you mentioning Chelsea in reference to this and I believe that because of the ban and their lack of spending their income outweighed their outgoings, hence the wiggle room that created regarding FFP. If wrong I stand corrected.

{Ed002's Note - It is that and significant sales - the Hazard money, Morata, Pasalic, January sales, other smaller sales etc..}

15 Nov 2020 19:21:42
Ed you’ve been saying this for two years, will we ever see the consequences of this difficult situation you tell us we are in?

Didn’t you tell us we wouldn’t be spending significant funds in the summer window just gone?

{Ed002's Note - The pandemic gave a break for Aston Villa to regroup and try and fix their problems, but the rolled the dice on a guarantee of survival this season - which they should do, there are worse sides. But it will still need to be resolved. And the changes they will look to next summer could be addressed by a sale or two.}

15 Nov 2020 19:44:39
I think the academy revamp will help with this situation. Obviously we only want to clear out the "deadwood " and not our better players. Cut the wage bill, get whatever we can for fringe players and start seeing the more promising youngsters promoted to the bench. This is the sustainable model the club is looking at in the long run. For now though, with whatever leeway the C.V. has given us re FFP, we have probably spent above our means to ensure we stay in the premier league and the financial riches it entails.

{Ed002's Note - I tend to agree but you can expect interest in Grealish for next summer.}

15 Nov 2020 20:27:31
That'll be inevitable, a bit like Thanos 😁.

15 Nov 2020 22:06:22
Jack, S performances just get better and better seems like more pundits are coming to appreciate his skills albeit late in the day.
