#avfc consider loan move for Chelsea's Ross Barkley as Dean Smith targets a "No 8". Ruben Loftus-Cheek a possible alternative option #cfc - John Percy latest. Couple this with Alan Nixon posting earlier that we have significant funds put aside for a new central midfielder and striker/ winger.

From this I take the plan is to keep Jack out wide, and sign a new central mid that puts Hourihane on the bench. I like Loftus Cheek, but Barkley would be a massive signing. Add to that a winger for the right hand side and Traore to push for a starting place/ rotate and we have a very strong first 11.

Barkley is a good player on his day. The only problem is that he only has a good day once in every 4 games. And he is always suffering from little niggles. I'd much rather we go for Guendouzi from Arsenal.

Guendouzi good young player, but at times can be a bit of a loose cannon .

Wouldn’t touch Guendouzi with a barge pole, proved he was a good player in a decent arsenal team at times but attitude is horrendous. Saw it first when we played them in the 3-2 last year, when the third went in he didn’t care about celebrating with his team mates, his first thought was to run over to our bench screaming and gesturing at John Terry “we’re in your head”. Then the Brighton saga, constantly asking players “how much you get paid” etc. Bloke is a waste of space and the sort of character we’ve spent a long time driving out of our club.

Barkleys character off the field has been questions on occasion, more his partying than anything but he’s 100% an upgrade and would slot straight into our midfield three, plus he’s proven at mid table level with Everton and has is a regular 7/ 10 for Chelsea.

Ruben Loftus Cheek the only issue is his injury record, again I think he replaces hourihane without question, when fit however.

So both carry risk but so does every transfer, no risk no reward.

I would go for either player and believe they would be good for us.

Don't you boys fancy drinkwater for another season? I'm shocked!

100 percent I'd take either of them if we can get them.

If I were a betting man, I would err towards Loftus-Cheek being the more likely signing. However, he seems to have whetted the appetite of many with reports of up to eight clubs pursuing his loan.
