If the reported £15mill for Maupay is true then I'm astonished we haven't done a deal yet. We spent £22mill on a striker with half the goals in a less competitive league. The big man might work out better for the system but with Maupay also being young that £15mill could be a real bargain.

You may have read it wrong, we offered 15m, they want a lot lot more, according to papers, hence why we’ve walked away.

The wording of reports I've seen is that we're not convinced at that price. Obviously the media pages are normally off with their valuations (Nakamba seems to have gone from £25mill to £6 mill from what I've seen) but just commenting on what they're saying.

How can you say wesley hasn't done it he's scored goals in champions league and europa league so he's proven in europe.

13 goals in the Jupiter League doesn't scream prolific and consistent.
Also, having scored in a competition against decent sides doesn't make you proven otherwise that Burton player who scored against City should be a PL player now.
My point isn't to drag Wesley down, he clearly has some talent and attributes the club want in the team but can we not agree that Maupays consistency at finding the net along with his ability on the counter makes him worth 15-20mill when comparing values.

Not really mate i don't know what the thing is with maupay the way people go on about him is like he's messi if he was that good why haven't other big clubs put bids in apart from shef united, wesley a target man and plays in a front 2 which is probably going to happen at villa that's why were going to sign a speedie poacher fox in the box to go with him.

Theres better strikers avaiable than him.

He is unlikely to score 20 goals in the Prem but he's young and would be a perfect alternative to Wes. From what I've seen we have been linked with Gomez (expensive and too similar to Wesley), Austin (injury prone) and Roofe (inconsistent) . Who is realistically available that would be better and reliable? Most of the options I can think of are now injury prone has-beens.
I don't think anyone considers Maupay close to Messi but he is proven in Smith's system and has played with Jota before so will already have an understanding with him.

Lookman from everton, gayle, marega from porto, moises kean from juve, leo from lille all good options.
