Tried this before but didn't go through.
Maybe it's because i'm older than most of you and Iv seen it all before. But I just can't register, why after just Two games, the doom& gloomers are, on the march again .
Villa have fought hard for Three years, to get us back in the Premier. So why can't we just enjoy it . Some people on here, appear to think, that the great winning run we had, will automatically continue. If you are all honest, nobody expected it to be easy . Not just the new players, have to acclimatise to the pace and skill of the Premier . Our other players have to as well .
Interesting that Walkies states what a brilliant, manager he considers Deano to be . But he doesn't have much confidence that he will keep us up .
I sincerely hope things go our way, on Friday, or the Deano out rubbish, will definitely be starting again . I can hear the knives being sharpened as I'm posting this .

Perhaps it's because I'm most likely older than most of you and Iv seen it all before. But I can't understand, after only Two games, the doom and bloomers have started again .
Iv just watched the highlights again and after that unbelievable start, Heaton didn't have a lot to do . With a bit more luck or better finishing, you wouldn't of had anything, to post about . Just enjoy the fact, after 3 years we are back in the Premier.
Some of you appear to think, that we where going to pick up, where we left off . As we all know we had a great run of, winning games . But this is a completely different world . I dread to think what will happen, if things don't go our way Friday . My old pal Mr Walkies (Mr Negativity ) will start his Deano out campaign. You can hear the knives sharpening, as I'm writing this HaHa .

Premier League is ruthless and unforgiving.
Nice guy as he is and one of your own, Walsall's manager is not going to keep you up. Sooner or later he has to go so make it sooner. Get the best available at this present time. Send these players back to the Championship and spend big in January.

A very well respected manager said that you don't get relegated from the last ten games of the premiership, but from what you do in the first ten games-now we all want deano to succeed big time for sure, but maybe we should be a little less open and a bit more boring, just get some points on the board, then open the taps, if the new players don't start putting a shift in then it doesn't matter how much possession we have in games, 'that don't get you a piece of the pie'-to quote one of the owners!

I wish we would of signed mitrovic instead of wesley, wesley mite come good where mitrovic is proven, same with big ben aswell.

I agree villa4eva. I said exactly the same thing both are class. But if wesley does get injuryed we havnt even got anybody good to come off the bench. I said it time an time again let the manager buy the players but nope money balling seems to be our answer again. The new owners didn't invest there money just the tv money they didn't allow Dean Smith to get the players he wanted. Malpay phillips butland benrahma an prob more instead they brought players on a computer like b4 when Randy lerner aywe vernout an all the french mob. Hope we stick with Dean Smith even if we do go down because his amazing.

Dave you can’t believe it can you, The owners let Deano spend the money he did, but never let him buy the players he wanted . I would like to hear, Deano’s take on that one .

Reading some of the other posts, I'm wondering if some people's expectations are a bit to much . We are now in the Premier, we are not going to, have the success, we had last season . We have not just the new signing to acclimatise, we have players like Jack and McGinn, who will find a big difference . Deano till be telling them, you have to be switched on from the first minute.

As was proved today, any mistake will be punished in this league. It's already been said, players we expected to shine today, just didn't, I don't know if Jack and McGinn, where just not up with the pace, or perhaps, trying to hard, to make things happen.

Deano will certainly letting them know, where they went wrong .
How was that Billings ever allowed, to stay on the pitch? compleat utter mystery.

My expectations are for us to finish 12-15th with a cup run. We need to beat teams like Bournemouth, that’s about it.

Id take 17th right now.

We're 2 games in and it has started already. We knew it would take some time with all the new players yet the doomsayers are here.
If we can come out of these first 6 games with 6-7 points then I'd say we're on track/ doing fairly well. The run after Arsenal is where we want to be fit and firing as another 6-9 points from those 3 games gives us a good springboard to look up rather than down.

No being negative just stating the truth newell were in the hardest league in the world, this league is brutal its changed since last time when we were in it anything above 17th then we have had a good season in my view . and that's not being negative, we are going to struggle to score goals unless we start putting our chances away, that's my worry, avoid relegation is a good target in my eyes.

I'm sure all of us in the summer would say we'd take 17th as long as we stay in but the timing and phrasing reads like we won't get there by the end.
It's going to be tough and we will lose games we should be looking to win but that happens to everyone.
The major positive with the 'big 6' is that the magic 40 points has statistically died in recent times and around 45 points actually gets you into that mid table bunch.
Burnley, Brighton, Norwich, Palace, Newcastle, Sheffield Utd and Southampton are all likely to be down there so enough teams that we just need to be a little better than.

I still think our defence should be
Guilbert
Engels
Mings
Targett
With Nakamba sitting in front of them as D/ M.

Dave we all like and respect Deano, however he seems to be the only one that can't see what a lot of the faithful see in terms of our defensive line up, I really hope he changes his position soon, otherwise he will start to get some flack if results don't go our way. Of course we all want the same thing however we are not the most patient of fans and unrest will quickly kick in if results don't improve if he sticks to the current defensive line up.

I may get shot down in flames but for me we should need to be a little tighter in the centre of the park

I also think Anwar hasn’t really shown his potential this far

I agree with deano’s 4-2-3-1 just not the personal on the pitch

For me I would go

Heaton

Guilbert. Engels. Mings. Targett

Luiz. Nakamba/ Hourihane

Trezeguet. McGinn. Grealish

Wesley

The front three although in a position are all very interchangeable and could almost have free roles

El Ghazi
Jota
Kodjia
Very capable substitutes.
