We need a conductor, a leader, a captain.
It seems as if Gerard only looks at players that he has personally checked out.
Ward-Prowse was a Smith target and Gerard won't take a backward step.
I am concerned with Gerards apparent disregard for anything that might act against Coutinho.
McGinn is not a captain, neither was Mings but until he signs someone who leads people the team will fall short.
Gerard led by example on the pitch but as a manager he is way down the list of good managers. He appears emotionless, standing on the touchline just looking "lost."
I need a lot more from a manager of Aston Villa, a lot more from Gerard.

Hes got no chance managing lpool TOV he's an average manager and only got villa job because of purslow,stevies man management skills are shocking,hes got no stand out traits apart from his name,hes done nothing really as a manager and was not the manager i wanted,potter,and dyche were the 2 i wanted and still do along with poch,and as for the captain wouldn't have given it to mgginn he's been shocking in my opinion i'd have given it to emi or cash,mings was treated bad in my opinion,i don't think its a happy dressing room at vp sooner stevie goes the better in my opinion we have gone bckwards,deano did a better job and played better football
