Just spoken to a rangers fan who was a season ticket holder until he moved to Redditch last year, he said Gerrard will not be influenced by fans views. He doesn't back down on his decisions and we shouldn't expect him to pick Mings, by doing this he accepts he was wrong and according to the rangers fan they were frustrated that he was extremely stubborn in his final season at Rangers and became unpopular with many fans because he didn't or wouldn't change the obvious. A manager has every right to pick the team and stand by his decisions, however when these very decisions are obviously out of sync and obvious to everyone, fans and knowledgeable pundits alike, then stubborness is absolute folly. I listened to comments on Sky, Bein sports, match of the day and read comments in many if the sports pages and everyone is saying exactly the same as most on here. So let's wait until 11.30 on Saturday morning when the team is announced to see if Gerrard is prepared to accept that he got it wrong.

He’s the manager he lives or dies by the decisions he makes. In fairness we don’t see the players day in day out he does, and I fully understand we are concerned over one bad performance at the start of the season it is exactly that one bad performance, and whilst I would personally like to see Mings many on here have slated him for most of last season and wanted him dropped now they have got there wish they are calling for him to be reinstated! Although Gerrard has made changes in essence the team is still Dean Smiths and Gerrard needs 2 or 3 more signings to push us on. When he took over we recognised that this wasn’t going to be a five minute job we all need to be patient.

Loti, you make valid points its obvious we need at least three quality players and of course gerrard needs time. Its worth noting however the we having been playing with pretty much full internationals in every position. Any manager by now should be able to know his best eleven, should be able to get a team of internationals with a far better recent win ratio above the miserly circa 15%,which isn't far off relegation. So time yes, much of the same definitely not, his future at the moment is in his own hands that may not always be the case in the future

I've watched every preseason game and I think the team had wants to start with has let him down every time. The subs have come on and rescued it. Having stated he wants two quality players in every position, and he is close to that, and to fight for places, then he has to drop players that don't perform. But he isn't doing it so there's a sniff of teacher's pet going on. If he hasn't already, he is on the verge of losing the dressing room. Very hard to come back from that.

Going back to the top of this post, why hell would your mate want to move from the historic and cultural centre of excellence that is Glasgow to the toytown wasteland that is Redditch? Is he on some kind of witness protection programme ?

Menace you show your total ignorance, one he is not a mate, Redditch has nicer parts than Glasgow, you obviously haven't been to either and finally he had to move for work, his company relocated to the south as most of their business is in this part of the world.
