Ok guys, season's about to start what do you think success looks like for us this season? Whilst I would like us to be challenging for the top six I think we are 2 or 3 quality players from being strong enough to maintain a sustained challenge for one of those places. Realistically I want to see progression at all levels so a top half finish in the league, decent run in the cups, and a couple of the talented youngsters making game day squads and getting the odd run in the first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe that Aston Villa will finish on 9th place this coming season. If the club signs just one more player, I believe that Aston Villa would get higher up the table. Villa has enough players on all positions, but maybe not enough strikers. One more striker is ideal for me.

I think Villa are as strong, player for player, as any team outside of "The Big 6", West Ham and Leicester - I think 9th is a fair prediction for this season but another few signings could make the conversation for 7th more interesting.

BK1982, I'd certainly agree on that. We have been looking to sign Moise Kean. If we do, then maybe there will be atleast a League Cup title or an FA Cup title and maybe a 7th place finish too. But since I know Aston Villa, there probably won't be any titles this season either.
That is unless Gerrard doesn't improve with his tactics and formations, but we can only hope. Up the Villa!

My honest opinion, 7th is just a dream, 10th will be a push, most likely 12th-14th. looking around the clubs and I see everyone has strengthened as much if not more than we have. I hope I’m wrong but I think we are a few players away from improving on last year.

Yep, agreed with most on here as has been discussed earlier in the summer - unless one or more of the top 6 has a meltdown we're competing for 7th-10th and hopefully a good cup run. Still think there will be two signings to improve our chances and then we should be hoping for closer to 7th and pushing whoever struggles in the top 6, but who knows at this stage.

Whack, who outside last seasons top 6 have actually done that?
We've signed 3 Champions League players who go straight into our starting line-up.
Newcastle have signed Botman and Pope. West Ham signed Scamacca and a defender who is already on the long term injury list. Leicester haven't signed anyone and are losing their best player. Leeds signings are nothing special and they will be bottom 6 again.
I think player for player our business has been better but even if you prefer the idea if a scamacca or a botman the overall business is more effective.

Fully agree with RK here, our transfer business so far has been exceptional - Over the past 12 months (ish) we've signed Ings, Buendia, Bailey, Digne, Kamara, Carlos and Coutinho - I for one could never have imagined that and I'd be surprised if any on the site could either. We've done some great business and I expect this to continue but we know the club won't make a signing for the sake of it and we know the club are willing to wait to get the player they want so let's be patient.
