I see UEFA have come out with there equivalent of FFP over a 3 year window. The amount that can be spent on transfer fees, players salaries and agents fees will be limited to 90% of revenue in year 1 80% in year 2 and 70% in year 3. I believe our revenue last year was £186 million with that as a working assumption then in year 1 we will have a maximum of £167 million to spend that being the case I don't see us landing all of those superstar names we have been linked with Phillips, Coutinho Saint Maximin and Bissouma would wipe out that sum in fees alone not to mention agents fees and salaries we may sign one or two big names but the rest of the shopping may be done in Aldi!

Loti, we have access to the best accountants in the world, the owners haven't made their billions by playing by the rules. Remember ed 002 constantly told us we were in trouble with ffp, yet our books were perfect thanks to our world class accountants. I think Gerrard will get exactly what he wants, the big question is will he get the players he wants in order for us to push on.

And we'll raise extra through player sales. It's not as if we have a squad of duffers.

financially we will be fine guys, it's whether we can push on from mid table mediocrity.

Scot I hope you are right, the piece I heard on the radio suggested clubs are going to undergo significantly more scrutiny than they do currently and that some of the loopholes that creative accounting has enabled clubs to use to avoid previous rules have now been closed and that any attempts to avoid the new rules will be tantamount to fraud and result in clubs being referred to HMRC and we really don’t want to end up a la Portsmouth or Derby.

We will be fine mate

Loti, HMRC would have enough oversight from the tax returns.
Any FFP style initiative is independent of accounting authorities and a loophole in those rules does not necessarily mean any wrongdoing is committed in terms of IFRS.

Anyway, we only had a net spend of about £30m this season so should be ok
