Hope its not true about Heaton.
Looks like he might be on his way to Man Utd for absolutely Nowt.
He is undoubtedly to good to be on the bench, and should be playing, but not for nothing.
Will we ever learn, we have lost millions over the years, and we are still losing money.

Dave, I think it’s likely he will be off but what I don’t understand is if he wants to play, why is he going back to Utd where he is likely to be 3rd choice? I had read somewhere the Baggies were interested as they expect to lose Sam Johnstone now that I could understand however it does seem he’s destined for Utd.

He’s 35 Dave, recently back from a bad injury, in the last year of his contract, leaving on a free, swapping one bench for another. We quite literally aren’t losing any money here?

This type of thing happens all the time, especially with older back up keepers, there’s countless examples.

Rumours are that Utd are going to cash in on De Gea so doubt he'd be going there to be no.3. Even at number 2 he'll get more game time with them being in europe and generally progressing further in cups than we do, so fair play to him.
We've moved on and got ourselves a better no.1 while he's approaching the end of his career and the end of his contract having done a good job for us. Don't see how anyone is losing out on this and certainly doesn't strike me as an opportunity to view the way our club is currently being run as negatively. Each to their own though I suppose.

Plus freeing up £40 grand a week for a younger player seems astute business to me seems we learnt a lot from yesteryear.

Jed Steer steps back in and were saving money as Daz points out. We let Tom finish his career where he started, with an outside chance of playing the odd game of champions league football and living back where his from. Villa save 40 odd thousand a week and have a ready replacement who is a good character and well like in the dressing room. Everyone’s a winner in this situation, I can’t see how this could be a negative.

I think it makes sense for him to go back to United. Second choice behind Henderson if (when) De Gea moves. He’ll get cup games and possibly play some in Europe. I think while we’re not in Europe and offering so many games, it’s difficult to keep a backup keeper of his level. Steer can be the back up to Emi, and Sinisalo will be back from his loan to be our third option, maybe?
